  1. Are there still visa agents in Penang as I am partially incapacitated I do need assistance, I entered Thailand visa exempt on 30th Nov and will extend another 30 days , I have an onward flight out of Thailand on the 24th January to Penang, just wondering if that's the easiest way for me to go now considering the visa agent situation.

I would not take the 400k baht out of the bank unless immigration said it was allowed to keep it a different account that is not in you own name. Perhaps move it into a new fixed deposit account that would give a higher interest rate than a standard saving account.

Was the 400k baht what was needed to reach a total of 800k baht when combined with income?

    Yes it was joe

When did you do your extension application? If before March 1st the new rules will not apply to you until after your next extension.

There is nothing in the new rules for a combination option stating how much you have to keep in the account. Some offices have said half of what was needed to reach a total of the money in the bank and income to reach a total of 800k baht needed to kept in the bank after 3 months.

You will not need to prove where money in the bank came from when you top up your account.

I did extension in May Joe

  4. Using the combined money method  , l am doing the monthly transfers, and have kept Thb400,000 in my bank book can l take out the Thb400,000 l have in my account and deposit it into my ladys account to get a good interest rate

(,foreigners aren't able to open an account  at her co-op)  then after 9 months place the THB400,000 back into my account in time to qualify the

THB 800,000 , will l have to show where  the Thb400,000  came from, lt will be my 3rd extension ,

    Thank you for any advice.

  5. Pleasant experience at Chaiyaphum Immigration today ,  had my papers checked by an IO during their lunch break , he said cant do because you have to have 12 months of statements ,so i pointed out the stat dec. and said ok you using this ,i said yes please, ok no problem and he smiled and said i not see , next year you will have to show 12 months statement , dont want the bank book, bank letter is good enough , so tm7 , passport copies, bank letter ,6 months statement, ( bank book pages copies which they didnt want ) ,after we were called and had it processed, which took about 10 minutes  l asked the IO about the income and money in the bank method for next year , she said you need to transfer money every month .if you have 400,000 bht in bank book you will need to transfer enough to show you have had at least 800,00bht in your bank book over 12 months, l started transferring money in March in accordance with the rules, and yes you can spend the money you transfer. She confirmed the advice Ubon Joe gave in reply to my enquiry posted 13/1/2019 ,

"Clarification regarding finance arrangements with 12 month Extension of stay" l hope this can be helpful

  6. Hi all ,

l would like to know if l am understanding the new rules correctly regarding my 12 month extension of stay renewal, say

l have THB 500,000 in my bank book, and not letting my bank balance get below THB500,000 ,  is it still necessary for me to deposit THB65,000 each month or can l deposit THB30,000 each month which would give me THB 30,000 x 12months =THB 360,000 + THB500,000 = THB 860,000 value attained in my bank book during the 12 months, and say l spent the THB360,000 during the year on living expenses ,  would this ok.

             Thanks for your discerning replies.

  7. For those that may be lnterested,

I visited Chaiyaphum Immigration today to file my 90 Day Report 6 days prior to the Due Date

which is on 22/10 /2018,and was told l will get 90 days from todays date, l asked if it was possible to report early

and get the 90 days from the due date , the officer said no ,l then asked can l do the 90 day report online

and was told cant do at this office , 2 officers agreed about the matter, so lost a week by the looks of it .

any points of view appreciated , Thanks.

    ok, so:

1] no documentation whatsoever to back up a claim

2] no means whatsoever for anyone to investigate the claim

3] define swearing an oath/BS from start to finish,

no way of telling, and no one will or can verify validity of the claim,

that for all practical purposes can be made out of thin air

Only Thai Immigration if they chose to could force you to verify a statement

or affidavit and its contents made under oath,as Ubon Joe has said it has nothing to do with an Embassy who only witnesses you sign that oath,

Apart from the Q+A  dissatisfaction , how is your marriage otherwise ?

We all have our problems and l soon learn't not to be to serious about everything ,and that made a big difference to our relationship ,and when l look back it makes me laugh as to how touchy i was

about the sort of things you are talking about, we were in Bangkok last year going to the Australian Embassy,l said" ark some peepin where Lumphini Park" , "teerak", she didn't want to ask "what?  l not talk good Thai enough" so Duang asked 2 people and she said "we go this way" okay we walked a while and l asked her what did the people actually say ,she said "man tell this way" ,and what the lady tell?",she tell go other way" ! well we both started laughing and she said teerak you know this Thailand ! l think the lady may have been right because we walked about 3ks .

Duang doesn't have to toe the line to western ways,  and she is not stupid and she is not ignorant and she is not disrespectful all l needed was to try and learn and have some understanding of the Thai way of things and it involved a bit of time !.And life is still good in Thailand

  10. You have plenty of colourful opinions to help you !

Does your brother in law live with you along with any other members of the family?

how much contact do you have with him ?

Tightening the purse strings can get results

along with going away for a few weeks ,you will get some answers one way or another ,

and yes l realise you have a child

Keeping it lighthearted, if your serious take control and sort things

out. It appears to have been dragging on for some time now ?

Perhaps the better question is " why did you provide a letter from the embassy if you had B900,000 baht in your account?" Unless B800,000 had not been in the account for at least 3 months prior to the date of application for the visa extension (in such case you would not provide the evidence of the required B800,000 in a Thai bank; you don't need both), I am aware of no requirement for a letter of income from an embassy if proper evidence of B800,000 in a Thai bank is used as the basis for the extension of stay in Thailand.

Sorry about that my original post is  misleading (along with the Statuory Declaration of income per annum , bank letter ,and updated bank book totalling BHT 900,000 ) The 900,000 was a combination of Stat Dec and bank book funds  .one baht.
