  1. I hope, you will be luckier this year. Last year went very well for me, 30min. for extension and 90-days-report, this year they also accepted everything, but it took them about 90 minutes from the time of the appointment (I didn't ask why..). I always insist on a manual update for the bank letter with the actual date and check for stamp and signature. They made me run extra rounds too many times because of such little details. Good luck for your next extension.
  2. Not my experience. Over the years we had transactions in several provinces and nowhere had the officers of the "grom tee din" any interest in the amount of money beeing exchanged between seller and buyer. Their only interest had been on the amount of taxes they had calculated. Not speaking about hidden envelopes, that's another story..
  3. You can't get a Cerfificate of Residence in Bangkok when you are living and extending your visa in Pattaya, but you can use the one form Pattaya IO to open a bank account in Bangkok.
  4. I did it last week at a KrungSri branch in Hat Yai. There was some confusion and they admitted, that they aren't used to this system yet, but finally no problem. They used the passport instead of an ID and didn't say a word about different rules for foreigners.
  5. To be on the safe side he should better take a plane, exit with the EU-passport and reenter with the Thai passport. A return flight to Kuala Lumpur doesn't take long and isn't expensive.
  6. Yes, everything back to normal. Made my extension last week; much nicer to wait inside. Interesting was, that all visitors had masks on, but not the Immigration Officers..
  7. In 2011 we had no meter reading for almost 3 months. No problem, they never cut the power off. The first bill after the floods we had to pay at the PEA office in person (they were quiet busy..).
  8. Have you tried it? 10 years ago, i changed a passport and went to the bank. There they had some problems, because 20 years ago, i forgot to inform them about the change. They still had the passport number from 30 years ago - i never had a problem with any bank transactions or the bank information for the immigration..
  9. No need to change bankbooks. None of the big banks have linked the account number to the passport number. The driving licenses can be changed with the next renewal (the number of the old passport is in the transfer stamps of the new one.
  10. It's ASEAN NOW, where you are posting, not ASEAN Times.. And it has no connection at all to Bangkok Post, it's part of The Nation now. Maybe you are a bit delusional..
  11. I'd rather say, that most customs officers will tolerate reasonable amounts of meat/cheese and other food for personal use. Last time I reentered TH I had to open my bag in Hat Yai, because the officer thought, the salt sticks could be some sort of explosives. She had seen all my meat and cheese products and didn't say a word, but was relieved (and even smiled), that no explosives were found..
  12. Paying tax would be a good idea, especially as this government is in terrible need of money. But, as it is Thailand, i rather doubt, that this would give any quality assurance or use of pesticides or other chemicals.
  13. Mike, you're wrong. I've been smoking both for a long time. I stopped cannabis, when i moved to Thailand - legal reasons. Whilst a decent outdoor ganja or hash from Kerala, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Morocco, Lebanon and so on have a quiet decent smell, the new generation high power indoor plants with 20 - 30% THC-content smell very, very strong - at least for the non smokers (ask my wife, she will tell you some horrible stories..).
  14. I don't think that they have any protocol. 4 years ago they came visit us and 3 years ago they told me, that they will have to come every year from then on. Never came again. And we don't have any neighbours..
  15. So did you get the 12-months statement from the headquarters of your bank or did you print it from your app?
  16. I only give them the relevant pages, but, just in case, i also carry the other ones with me. The problem of inconsistency is not only the change of command, for the last three years the officers changed every time. Last year the officer said, i don't need a 12-months statement, as my bankbook obviously shows every transaction (common sense), but this year a new officer wanted the 12-months statement - the bankbook was the same. On the other hand, they gave me the full 12 months and missed the fact, that my passport will expire earlier.. I will see what happens, when i change the passport. Maybe they'll change the date of the extension, but, i rather hope, they won't admit any mistake and let it be..
  17. Hi Stocky. I use a BBL branch near the clock tower. Bank letter and statement (up to 6 months) was always done in 20 - 30 minutes, but doesn't work with 12-months statement.. I never made copies of every passport page, only the relevant ones and always use a google-map with hand remarks; has never been a problem. The 12-months statement for retirement extensions is relatively new, a bit difficult for the timing, but then, on the other hand, i don't like to go back to marriage extensions, as lots of other stuff is needed, incl. the consideration time. Thank for your information anyway.
  18. Do you mean two months or 12 months bank statement? I can get up to 6 months at BBL immediately, but 12 months takes a week. If Krungsri can do a 12 months on the spot, please inform me.
  19. The statement i got from BBL headquarters didn't have a stamp. There was even a remark, that no stamp is needed, as it comes directly from their headquarters. IO was ok with that. Could be different from a downloaded PDF file.
  20. The confirmation letter is not such a problem, since it can be done in a few minutes, but since last year they also ask for a 12 months statement (extension based on retirement), which takes about a week to be sent from headquarters. I use an account only for visa purposes, so obviously no hidden transfers, but still had to get it. Besides; a new officer again..
  21. OP, did you scan the QR-Code at Hat Yai Immigration and then use their Line app.? I did my extension last month and just had to fill in my name, passport number, expiry date of the existing extension and the e-mail address.
  22. I wouldn't plan on that. I just got my new extension and they were so busy with the financial details, that they missed the expiry date of my passport. They gave me 12 months instead of 9, i didn't insist.. 10 years ago, in an other province, they didn't miss the expiry date but gave me 12 months anyway, just reminding me not to forget to renew the passport.
  23. We live about 20km SE of Hat Yai, no public transport at all, so we would be lost without a car. Besides, i like driving here. I stayed in BKK before, hated to "drive" (crawling from one traffic light to the next) there. Tuk-tuks in Hat Yai are ok, but if you have to go out of town, they are very expensive. Hardly any taxis (only airport-taxis) or grab. As in many other southern towns, taxi business isn't comparable to central Thailand.
