What is the exact procedure to change an extension based on work permit (Bangkok) to retirement (Pattaya)?
I'm over 50 years old, and I have the funds required (funds have not been touched for a long time). My next extension is due beginning of March.
Someone told me I have to cancel the present extension first (immigration at Chaeng Wattana), and also to contact the Labor office (Din Daeng) to have my work permit cancelled. Is this correct information? If this is indeed correct, will an agent in Pattaya be able to help me avoid this red tape? I'm not interested in avoiding the financial requirements though. Is there anyone here who has knowledge about an agent who can be of assistance? Thanks in advance.

I have had yellow tabien baan and pink ID card for about five years. The book and the ID card are not as useful as I wished they should be, e.g. getting Thai price at national parks. I have however, on a few occasions, found book and/or ID card useful for certain things, such as opening a bank account, hospital visits and renewing my drivers license. And no need to ever pay the 500-baht-without-a-receipt for a residence certificate at immigration anymore.
I have found a really good thing though, and that is that the yellow book is really useful for the Thai citizen application (going straight for this one is possible if you're married, no need to go for PR first). Of course many more things are needed than just a yellow tabien baan, but it is at least a start. I even took notice of the translation guy at MFA asking me if I, later on, wanted to become a Thai citizen.- 1

I just tried to reach those sites using Nord VPN, and yes, you are correct, the pages won't load.
But why would you want to use VPN in the first place?

Siamburi's, on top of soi Khao Talo, search for it on Facebook.
It's a little bit far to go for most people, unless you live in that soi. However, they always have good offers, so it might be worth the trip.

There is no problem with

But if you check ...

... you can see that it has indeed been hacked.

Is that a new name for Koh Larn?

I was very happy when I saw your advice, because I have been waiting for username/password for 3 months now.
I followed everything you said, and it all seemed fine until the part "it seems to automatically send the password". I didn't get anything in my mail.
Question is now, how long do I have to wait? I suppose you didn't mean password being sent instantaneously.

Successful now. Suddenly everything worked, we were able to use the dropdown menu and nothing was greyed out.
It had nothing to do with antivirus or adblock, or even Windows 10. Just a temporary glitch.

Thanks for your answer.
Already tried to do the procedure again, no success.
Two different computers with Windows 10, Internet Explorer, Edge, Chrome. Antivirus and adblock disabled.
iPhone and Android phones with Chrome.

We are trying to sign up on the TM30 site. My wife fails to enter anything in the "Position" field (dropdown menu is not working), and the field for "Register at" is greyed out.
I tried all browsers I had, also disabling anything which might interfere. Even opened it up on my phone. No success at all. Any solution to this?

4 hours ago, TPI said:
You don't need a WP to open a bank account!
Well, it's true that some banks (branches) just want to see a passport, and some banks want a work permit + passport.
It doesn't really matter, because, as I said, I have one.
Anyway, that was not the point of my post; I wanted to show that it can be quite useful with a yellow tabien baan / pink ID card.
And no problems using the ID card in other provinces, contrary to what someone said earlier in this thread.

I had use for yellow book (tabien baan) / pink ID card quite a few times.
E.g.
Registration of my newborn baby at government hospital, with me as the father, and baby with my surname, in Thai, according to what is stated in yellow book. (Didn't have the ID card in the beginning.)
Renewal of Thai driver's license. Yellow book.
Membership card at Suan Siam (Siam Park City), with free entries for one year. It was advertised as being available only to Thai residents. Pink ID card.
Many places with dual pricing, for example Suan Nong Nooch. Pink ID card. (Some places might accept a Thai driver's license, others not.)
Tried to use my pink ID card to open a new bank account, they wanted a work permit though (which I had), so that was the only time I failed to do something with the ID card.

Thanks for your input Ubonjoe, I do appreciate your help.
I know now why I always got away from paying a penalty fee for failure of reporting, and that was because my trip abroad I was always doing quite soon after being at the immigration.

Mr. Lopburi, thanks for your answer.
A friend of mine asked me, and suddenly I became unsure, that is why I was posting here. And after reading your reply, maybe he was correct in what he was saying, 90 days doesn't reset by visiting immigration for an extension.
I can just recall to my own situation: always in the past when I was visiting the immigration (applying for an extension), I would start to calculate from 1 from that day, just like it would be day 1 when arriving from a trip abroad (re-entry permit). I would also sometimes go abroad, and when coming back, I would start to count from 1.
I was at Chaengwattana immigration quite recently.

Hello everyone.
Just a quick question. I didn't want to create a new thread for this, so I hope it's OK to post it here.
Anyway, I am aware that 90 day resets after a trip abroad. But what about a visit to an immigration office, for example applying for an extension? Isn't my 90 day then reset by this visit, and I will calculate from that day at the immigration?

Thanks all for your advice.

Can a 30 day overstay be cleared by doing a border run? (Not myself)
Requirements, except the 15,000 baht fee?
Which borders to be recommended near Bangkok?
Thanks in advance.
-
Greetings everyone.
Let's say that my 90 day report is due next Friday, 15th of June. If I go to immigration on that date, in person, I will get stamped until the 15th of September, give or take a day.
But what about the online reporting? Since I will be doing it no later than a week before due date (maybe this coming Friday on the 8th), what will they stamp on the slip?
15th of September, or 8th of September?

My friend, who is from Uganda, called me right now, he is at Immigration Chaeng Wattana. He said that they are going to give him only 7 days because of his nationality. Is this true? (Multiple Entries Tourist Visa, expiring in June.)

Deputy director-general Nanthapong Cherdchu said a sting operation on Monday in Bangkok had led to 18 Uber drivers being nabbed and each was fined Bt2,000.
He said the agency must try to make Thais understand that the use of Uber was illegal and if any accident happened, a customer would receive less protection under the law.

I live in Samut Prakan, work in Bangkok. I have for years been doing my yearly extensions in Bangkok (Chaeng Wattana), so in some cases no, it doesn't have to be where you live.

I work in Bangkok but live in Samut Prakan. Is it possible for me to go to the immigration office in Pak Nam (Samut Prakan) to transfer relevant information to my new passport? (Passport was issued in Sweden, and I already have the required document for transfer from my embassy).
The last extension was obtained at Chaeng Wattana, but it would be very nice to be able to go to Pak Nam instead. They want proof of residence in Samut Prakan when I am there doing my 90 day report or requesting re-entry permits. I will then show them my work permit, utility bills are not accepted though.
Will I have any problems showing up at this office for the stamp transfer?
-
I haven't done this yet, just arrived in Thailand a few days ago.
I just wanted to ask one more question: someone told me that the visit to C.W. immigration, to transfer the stamp, must be done in person. So I can't send someone to do this for me then?

It was possible, in the past, for a foreigner to own a firearm. I think the law was amended quite recently; not possible anymore.
