They cited their sources as saying that Thailand DPM and Health Minister - the much villified Anutin Charnvirakul - as saying that the mess could not be helped.

Yes, the plague is obviously the fault of the people not distancing themselves.  Of course, the line would then extend for miles and be mistaken for a demonstration against the government.

They are going to have a meeting about it so all problems will be solved!

    Amazing Thailand!

He said that, if the Mongkut Wattana Hospital, and its affiliated Palang Paendin field hospital, have to admit all COVID-19 patients, including those who arrive at the hospitals without advance notification or arrangement demanding immediate admission, it would be very unfair to other patients who are on the waiting list.

Yes, the infected should just quietly stay at home and die in peace.  It is not the general's fault that there are not enough hospital beds.  It is the patients fault due to reckless behavior that resulted in infection!

In its complaint, the GPO accuses the two men of defaming the organization by providing false information to the public, causing the public to incorrectly believe that the organization is making huge profits from the procurement.

    Corrected the spelling!

The government has said that misinformation about its policies have caused undue panic and unwarranted criticism, something it wants to cut down on.

A misspelling noted here!  The correct version should be:

The government has said that information about its policies have caused undue panic and unwarranted criticism, something it wants to cut down on.

The embassy in a message to its citizens in Thailand said the state department could not provide vaccines to the millions of Americans abroad, but would advocate for equitable access locally.

but didn't they announce recently that they were helping Thailand with a $30 million dollar grant?  They could have earmarked some of it for the Thai government to vaccinate US citizens.  That way there would be no need for involvement.

It was therefore necessary to re-open the country before it was completely ruined.

In order to do this he admitted that some risks must be taken.

Yes, like the Republican governor of Texas who famously said "We must sacrifice our grandparents for the sake of the economy!".

I think there would be a lot less risk if the government could manage to deliver Covid vaccine in a timely manner.  This all could have been avoided if the PM had been proactive and ordered the vaccines 6 months sooner.
