Hi guys

 

I'm 47 and want to spend 6 months in thailand....I live here in AUS and am thinking of 6 months thailand and 6 months cambodia

 

Is the Non-immigrant visa best for me?......is it 90 days with how many extensions?(30 days??)- in what time frame-6 months or 1 year?

 

i receive a pension back home so don't intend on working or trying to meet retirement requirements

[NAB Traveller card vs NAB visa/debit card]

National Australia bank will give an exchange rate on a traveller card of 24.547b for 1AUD....So if i put $3850AUD into it i get 94,505 baht.

 

But if i keep my money in my visa/debit card i workout i will need 6   20,000B withdrawls..Does anyone know how much the overseas

ATM charge is on a single transaction?....I figure i lose 3,444 baht on the lousy traveller card exchange rate....So even if the charge

is $12 per transaction x6=$72.00 i'm still ahead .....I lose roughly 137.00 Dollars on the traveller card deal....

 

What are they paying on the ground at the moment for cash.....25.10/25.20? for aussie dollars

kind of see from reading this thread where a lot of westerners are going wrong. But then it no doubt went wrong in country of origin. So they come over with a plantation owner mentality and expect Thai women to behave in a western way. No effort made to understand her, because a leopard can't change its spots.

And that attitude is compounded by marrying a lady who expects to be in a financially secure relationship, eastern style.

I married into a Thai Chinese family and made the effort.

I was married to a middle class Thai woman, she had a good education, financially secure and a job wage above 80K per month, her family had dozens of businesses, yet she vanished all suddenly without trace one day after 6 yrs of being together, i found Thai women much more flaky then western ones for sure.

also I ve dated dozens of married Thai women who were cheating on their farang husbands, one young guy was working his ass in the UK to send her 1500 pounds monthly, yet she was sleeping around with different guys for no obvious reason, she wasn't asking for money, note that her husband was in his 30s n handsome.

99% of farang/thai relationships are based on money........

And that is only for one reason. Because most farangs choose to be in that type of relationship. And judging from most of these posts they think that is the only type of relationship available to them and others. Hell, maybe for some it is. For me that is definitely not the case. The last time a woman was able to get money out of me without me giving it to her was never. They only have themselves to blame.

Best test for true love. Really!, 'un-selfishness' is the 'one and only standard' needed for lasting relationships.

I used to do this in America--I don't have a car here so I use a different test.

On dates I notice some women will offer food, put your straw in your drink, refill your glass--little things like that. I never once had a western woman do any of that to me.

Have to say never seen bad violent behavior where ever I've travelled in Thailand only bad manners mainly.

Friends & family that ask me about coming to Thailand if their concerned about certain things they are told, I just say stay away from Bangkok, and places like Pattaya & Phuket and now Hua Hin, come straight to me and we will sort your trip.

Going on that post,you would of been better to advise them not to come.....if they were true friends.
