  1. Seems that severe farang paranoia is one negative side effect of cannabis.
  2. I am on the grid, but just bought an MG4 and am upgrading my solar system from 5 to 10 Kw so I can run my home charging station without drawing from the grid during peak PV generation hours. +1 EV owner powering his car predominantly by solar.
  3. I tried this and it failed at the point where I attempted to link my Thai bank debit card. My guess is because I already have several US bank credit cards linked to Google Wallet. I don't particularly want to de-link them became I use Google Wallet all the time in the US, and not much in Thailand. Not sure if that would help, because Android Auto is already installed on my phone (it was installed in the US where it works on multiple vehicles). It also works sporadically in Thailand, but typically fails in the first couple of minutes of use and can only be restarted by shutting the MG off and on. Can't be restarted while driving. So I'm going with the "cheap Thai registered phone" for now. Looks like I don't need a data plan because I ran it off a phone in airplane mode using data from my primary phone's mobile hot spot.
  4. I did and it works. I'm considering keeping it in the car as my "Android Auto" phone, but it partially negates the point of Android Auto if you lose connectivity with your primary phone and have to pay for data on a second phone to operate it.
  5. When attempting to switch location to Thailand I select the option to link to a debit card, but get the message "something went wrong" before I'm able to enter details of my Krung Thai bank debit card
  6. I did what you suggest, but even after logging in to that account, if I go to Play Store, Settings, General, Account Country it's listed as USA. I try to change to Thailand, attempt to link to my Thai debit card for payments, and the change fails. I'm not even sure that the Play Store country is the problem, it's just the one difference between my phone and the ones that work reliably.
  7. I had; 68 Firebird 400 66 Chevelle SS 396 70 Camaro SS 350 69 GTO Judge 82 Mustang GT 5.0 84 Mustang GT 5.0 88 IROC Z Camaro 90 ZR1 Corvette 94 Cobra Mustang 14 Camaro SS RS and currently have a 2019 Challenger 5.7L RT in the US Engine stories? As a teenager I completely rebuilt the engine of the Firebird 400. It was a convertible so slightly de-tuned vs the same vintage GTO. I discovered that the major difference was the cam shaft, and installed a GTO spec cam upping the horsepower by 25.
  8. I recently purchased an MG4. My first issue with my Android phone was that I couldn't download the MG Thailand app because it was not available in my region, per Play Store. Now some background. My phone is a Samsung S22 Ultra purchased in Thailand. It's dual SIM, 1st being AIS and always active, 2nd a US provider only activated occasionally. But my primary GMail account is apparently US based, which causes Play Store region to be set to USA. I attempted to change the region to Thailand, in spite of the warning that region can only be changed once every 12 months, but got the message "something went wrong" when attempting the change. At this point I gave up and brought the phone to a repair shop who worked some magic and installed the MG Thailand app on my phone, and it appears to work normally. But Android Auto doesn't work well. It typically displays properly for about 30 seconds, but then the screen reverts back to the home screen. After this if I press the Android Auto icon it says "plug phone in USB port first". So I figured it's a bad cable. But tried 5, including a brand new cable purchased from Samsung. I tried a friend's phone and it worked okay, so I thought my cable connecter on the phone must be bad and had a new one installed to no avail. My wife has a Samsung S23 Ultra also purchased in Thailand with AIS as the primary service, but also a US GMail account and similar situation RE Play Store region. Her phone works the same as mine on the MG4; works for a few seconds or minutes and then fails. Meanwhile any phone we borrow from a Thai friend works fine. And both my wife's phone and my own work fine with Android Auto when we are in the US using cars purchased in America. I've spent hours at phone stores and the MG dealership trying to figure out what the problem is. It seems likely it's something related to Android considering our phones to be US based but I suppose it could be something else. Has anyone else had similar problems? I believe the MG Thailand app is used on other MG vehicles, has anyone had similar problems?
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 250,000 in Pattaya alone
  10. So you can have water thrown at you while you eat? Great concept!
  11. I'm thinking about buying an MG4 EV. In the US there's been competition over various plug type standards, which Tesla appears to have won. I know that Europe has a different standard all EV's must use. What is the situation in Thailand? What plug type does the MG4 use? I'd have a home charger, but have been looking for chargers in areas I frequent. Can I assume I can use any charging station I see, or am I limited to stations compatible with my MG4 plug type?
  12. I hope you're right. Because so far Trump has been pretty effective at convincing the public that Democrats are using "lawfare" to prosecute a political opponent, even though "we are not yet at the point in this campaign for the public to really care".
  13. So when should candidates start to be concerned about what the public thinks about themselves and their policies? A month before the election? A week before the election?
  14. True. But not particularly relevant to my original post which is below. Your graph, going back to the days following the Trump camp's underwhelming performance in the most recent mid terms, supports what I quoted above. That ^ is my point.
  15. Thanks for the historical graph. IMO it backs up the point I made in my original post on this topic.
  16. I don't want to see Trump reelected, so I find his rise in polls alarming and an indication that Democrat strategy to prevent that from happening isn't working. If it doesn't bother you, I guess you are representative of the Democratic establishment. I hope you're right and I'm wrong. In the meantime, what are you using in to guage voter sentiment in place of polling?
  17. Did you read my earlier post? How do recent polls compare with polls in early 2023?
  18. I've been watching. So far the court cases have boosted Trump's position in polling.
  19. While not a Trump supporter, I do agree with this. Trump lost 3 elections in a row. After foiling his party's chance to take over congress in the last mid term election, Republicans were sick of him. No one was showing up at his rallys. He was down in the Republican primary polls. If Democrats and the media turned their backs on him and ignored him he'd be another Al Gore or John Kerry. But instead they started dragging him into court on questionable cases. He deserved arrest over classified documents, but not Biden. He screamed unequal justice and rejuvenated his campaign. And the more court battles he wins; SCOTUS unanimously overturning the Colorado court, NY appellate court so far partially overturning the NYC court ruling, the more his claims look justified and the more his poll numbers increase. Democrats and the media should have turned their backs on him and let him wither on the vine of inattention.
  20. I know fees can be avoided. My point is that handling cash is more expensive for banks than handling cashless transactions. I can see a day when they are therefore more expensive than cashless transactions and wonder how many would pay extra to continue using cash.
  21. I can envision a time when one must pay for the privilege of using cash. Where does one get cash? At ATM's or branch offices, both of which cost banks money to maintain. There could come a time where there is a 5% fee in order the receive cash from an ATM or branch office. I know someone in the US running a business that generates a lot of cash, and his bank charges "excess cash deposit" fees on business account due to the extra expense of handling large quantities of cash. I wonder how many advocates of cash usage will continue to resist cashless payments if paying via cash costs more.
  22. Same as all of the markets I've mentioned except Thepprasit, which is about 80% Thai. The tourists usually don't have Thai bank accounts so usually don't use the QR/Prompt Pay system which is designed for Thais doing shopping. But that may change soon, as Asian nations are discussing a QR payment system which will work across the region, so Asian tourists will likely use it too in the future
  23. My wife reports that markets in Lat Yao and Phetchabun, regions less advanced than Chaing Rai, also accept QR payments. In my experience establishmets catering to tourists are less likely to use QR/Prompt Pay payments than establishments catering to Thais. Have you enquired about accepting cashless payments at your local market or are you just assuming they're not accepted because you're not interested in paying that way?
  24. At the day markets I frequent (700 Rai Sattahip, Che Junction Bang Saray, Thepprasit Night Market and more) every vendor either has a QR code hanging at their stall, or will produce a Prompt Pay number or a QR code on their phone if you request one. In the past year I have never encountered a vendor who won't accept a cashless payment.
