This is an old post.....but is this the law? Is there a link to clarify this? I'm trying to get my wife to report me returning back to Thailand (yesterday). If we make the online report, will there be any problems? In the online system it asks the date I leave (I just put in the last da of my extension), as its a required field.

I should add I have an old tm30 slip in my passport from 2018. My concern is that they will see this slip and it does not match my last entry.

Will you return and enter reentry permit?

    If so TM30 not required.

    Which immigration office?

They never said or stated that. This piece of news are about Immigration and tourist police. As they work with foreigners and not with the local citizens, it´s only natural that they also give information about that.

Rest assured that Thai police have their hands full with Thai criminals. Why do they need the extra workload with foreign criminals? Just cancel their visas and deport them. Job done.

I couldn't believe the cops got right into the middle of that brawl as opposed to whipping out the sticks and tasers and going to work. Oh I'm so depressed I missed that action. Those ladyboy fights are so interesting, sort of a combination of men throwing punches and women hair pulling and screeching. I remember about 9 or 10 years ago I watched two lady boys fighting in front of the Thermae, and then some dumb British guy got between the ladies to separate them and they beat the <deleted> out of him. It was wonderful.

I reckon tasers would be rare here. I asked my student who grecently graduated form the police academy. They cost like 100K and they have to buy them themselves. The same goes for their uniform, weapons, bullets (26 baht each), and petrol to just go anywhere.

No. I am annoyed at Universities' inability to give any logical reason as to why dormitories are mandatory and to only mention it after the fees are paid.

Good luck with that! We can't get any kind of reasoning out of our school for whatever inane rules they can come up with. Asking questions that start with "why" are not dealt with well by most Thais.

We'll be doing some more reading on this.

According to both reports, LDL was calculated.

Located in a small town outside Korat.  Will have to see what sort of specialists are available in the big city.

If the LDL was by direct method it is most likely on the lab result as "direct method". My ldl was elvated (160) on my last test 2 weeks ago. Dr suggested statins, but I'm holding off to see if I can reduce it over the next 4 months. 6 months ago I had it checked at another holsipal (at a time I was talking more care with eting, and the direct method had it below 130 (forgot the actual value).

I had a provisional diagnosis of a renal stone (slightly elevated RBC in urinalysis). When I asked the renal specialist for the ultrasound at the local hospital, he refused and said the CT scan was better, no argument. Went ahead and booked it, around 13000 baht, day after tomorrow.

The next day, visited a private hospital, explained the provisional diagnosis and their specialist recommended an ultrasound, carried out an hour later. This confirmed one, small renal calculi. Being asymptomatic, I was advised to drink plenty of water, up the citrus intake and come back in 3-months for a follow-up. Cost 2800 baht. Subsequently, I cancelled the CT scan!

Follow-up at private hospital 3-months later. Another ultrasound and it's still there, same place, same size, still asymptomatic. Same procedure, same advice, same 2800 baht. See you in April.

A renal stone is not really a peoblem unless if gets quite large. The problem is when it decided is wants to leave your body and get stuck in the ureter. I've had a few of them. The last one taking a few months to exit. The bet way to ensure one doesnt get a problem is to drink >2 liters of water a day, everyday. I just can't manage that!.

I got mine all cut  out, its  frikkin awful, Chevrolets  were quite  good till they bugggred  off and Fords and Mazdas were the worst

On a swift? what year was that car? Ours was blue 2013. We got it resprayed at the nearby nissan dealer as the suzuki dealer hos no spray facilities. They really messed it up and the orange peel was bad. And the actual blue was a little different than the original, s when we got a door and bumper resprayed a little later then didnt match properly. We offloaded it last year but still got 50%+ of the original price.

It's not up to the schools or their l9cation.

Anyone without a degree will not get the documents required from Teachers Council of Thailand to be able to obtain correct visa status snd a work permit. Unless they teach at a language centre or University.

So every foreign teacher in every k-12 school in Thailand is legally employed with a teacher's licence, degree and work permit? Is this what your are saying? Because I'm quite certain there are many teachers in far flung places working illegally in schools (Pathum Thani a couple of years ago, when a foreign teacher was found abusing kids). And that is hardly out of the way!

Don't they need a degree to get a work permit, non-immigrant visa and social insurance?

No degree, no work permit no visa tied to it, right?

In the past, more remote schools would skirt the law. I don't know if that happens these days. Anywhere near Bangkok, schools are very strict about this.

Jesus Id be more concerend by that awful orange peel than the  cat, ceramic  coating........hmmm  snake  oil imo

Just about every car comes out of the factory like this these days. Even a nice shiny black benz has it. Pearl white seems to hide it quite well. My suzuki swift, surprisingly, had very little orange peel (until I had it resprayed!)

Thanks. They look very nice indeed. I’m being quoted 24,000 baht with 24 follow-up treatments and ‘guaranteed’ for five years. They also do a two-year deal for 18,000 with 8 follow-ups. I’ve never had it done before so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I’m in Bangkok.

Are the follow-ups free? We get it also done at the dealer. I think we pay around 1000 each time (we get it done at the regular service intervals).

Note: It won't stop stone chips if the impact is severe (I have one on my hood).

However, where there are minor marks in the paint (not deep scratches), they can easily be polished out. My crv is close to 5 years old and there are no scratches in the paint at all (ony the odd stone chip). A paint protection film can be stuck onto the front of the car to reduce stone chips.

I occasionally apply a spray-on coating to keep the paint slick (meguairs has some products). see below

Overall, I recommend doing it.  Hondas prices are competitive with outside shops. You could always do it at an outside shop, its just more convenient to do it when get get out cars serviced. image.png.c34b89a3dc5af8860cb06bb93fe720dd.png

Based on this reasoning, you should not purchase anything as the technology will be better next year and the year after that. Except for ICEVs of course, as it has reached the pinnacle of its technology.

Who knows, in 10 years we may be able to teleport with the help of Scottie and cars won’t even be needed anymore.

Not just improvements in technology. EVs will go ahead in leaps and bounds as it's new technology - battery packs in 10 years could be vastly superior to the ones today - they how will you expect to get any money back on your outdated nd out of warranty EV? Phones get 'better' but I still wouldn'y buy a new one when a 5-year-old one does what I need it to do.

To be accurate, I understand that most of the workers were Cambodian, but of course, supervisory and management staff would be Thai.

It's THEY who should have their backsides kicked.

Having said that, I am wondering how they are going to manage to cover all this up.  Not a good advert for monorail systems hurried through on the cheap.

I am reminded that when a Thai airliner had its undercarriage collapsed at Swampy, they just painted over the Thai logos (talk about head in the sand, eh?)  and then when it was serviceable a while later, there were all sorts of religious ceremonies to bless the craft and the airport.

What's the betting the same will happen on the Pink Line?

I don't think it was hurried through and certainly not cheap! It took years of traffic snarls along Changwattana for it to get done. I'll probably never use it but at least the traffic flows much better now with all the lanes open. It must have been 5 years or more that they worked on it.

This is a very good comment.

It's some time ago that I bought a car, but I over the years I bought some motorcycles in Bangkok.

There is often a big difference in what I like and what makes sense.

I.e. I thought about buying a sports bike because it's fun to accelerate with those things. They also look good. But in Bangkok traffic they make absolutely no sense.

Luckily, when we get older, we think more about what makes sense and not only what is cool.

Apparently, the Chinese made Teslas are better made than American made ones. Better build quality etc. However, I’m not sure where these are sold. I would imagine Asia, including China of course, Australia, NZ, possibly Europe? I don’t they are sold in the US.

This is what I've heard also, re: the better quality. It's a shame they are still quite expensive, though I imagine that will change in the short to medium future.

I was lucky then, just bought my new one in 2022.

Good to know about the resale value though I have no plans to sell anytime soon.....

Boy racers love the manual gear version which is what I believe you have. Look after it well and you can still sell it easily in 5-10 years from now. 5 year old cars are still selling for over 400K.
