The Thailand "Police i lert u" app may be useful if you come across a road accident or need an ambulance.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arunsawad.policeilu&hl=en

The latest version has English option, you can send photos and GPS location. I've never had cause to use it, but as I said, it may be of use.

Thx for this recommendation. How many times one has no clue of its current street name / position..

Also available in the apple store.

Be careful!! I had a couple of winning tickets a few draws back and when going to http://www.glo.or.th and selecting English language and entering the ticket numbers into the prize checker it came back as no prize rewarded. In Thai language the tickets were winners. Error with their system or i think they just not want farang to win?

IF this is true, its really F*cked up - but again nothing surprises me about LOS anymore..

  3. So I went to Thai Consulate in Frankfurt Germany to renew the e-Pass of my wife on the 18 of April. They told us it would take 4-7 weeks because they actually

have to get a new one in BKK (means I don't get the concept of an e-Pass, but whatever). Now I was thinking of making a trip starting on the 14 of Jun because thats the only

holiday time frame I can get. Thats 8+ weeks.

Would you guys do that?

  4. I really believe Thailand attracts the biggest scumbag lowlife tourists from every single nation

Considering that I think the Thais are pretty cool dealing with those.

Saw this Netflix doc recently "Josef Fritzl: Story of a Monster"

Guess where he liked to make holiday?

the obvious human greed, the corruption and mafia + History (Vietnam war) all had their fair contribution.

Cosign avoiding the main tourist spots like the plague

  5. I believe they typically ask for that as a kind of insurance in case the relationship breaks up so that they don't end up with nothing.

Same same with my wife after 8 years of marriage in Europe. Imo its understandable and justifiable.

+ Most Issan girls dream about returning in their village in their old days

I was wondering if it would be possible to get an agreement with a letter of renunciation related to marriage assets and savings?

Means you buy her a house ONLY IF she agrees that she wont claim anything else in case of a divorce.

I have no marriage settlement :omfg:. Luckily my relations is in a very good shape but you never know what the future brings...

Sent ample time in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.  Vietnam suited me so much better than the other two.  People are extremely smart, helpful, and accepting of foreigners without the false smiles.

Infrastructure, malls, food vendors, beautiful country, easy access to ladies, and plenty of places to live make Vietnam a great place to either visit or live.

Some of their beaches are the best in the world IMHO.

Aside from phu quoc - which for sure has tarnished in the last 5 years - can I ask to what beaches are you referring?

  7. She is in her late thirties and she we has been living here since 7 years.

    Far from menopause I hope!

Cosign this post - not the mosquito part but the ped ped part.

A little off topic but. Does your wife suffer when she returns to Thailand with her stomach to. My Thai wife lives with me in the UK. She has lived there for about 10 years. When she returns to Thailand she dives straight in and starts to eat all the local Thai food . I have told her many times she cannot eat the same as when she lived in Thailand , for a few weeks. but it does not sink in. So we have a week of sprinting to the toilet every time along with stomach pains. Also she cannot understand why she gets eaten by mosquitoes. She never did before. So I know where one of the previous poster is coming from about the body adapting to the different climate. But she likes the snow.

She wants to eat all kind of stuff so bad but she admits that she cant deal with this amount of chilli no more + Kitek haha thumbsup.gif

  8. I wonder if I'm the only one in this situation...

We live in South Germany. Its almost mid march and still literally freezing in the morning and the temp. never gets above 7°C / 44°F during the day
and thats like the warmest region of this country.

Winter means Nov. till March you get no sun at all since you're at work + its cold when you get out in the morning and evening.

But.. wifey is totally fine with that, never complains bout nothing. In a few weeks we'll be LOS for our annual trip and I'm already worried about her...

Normally we come b4 Thai summer.

I like to move around, explore blabla but I know with temperatures way above 35°C / 95°F she will be throwing tantrums left and rights.

When we are in bkk its oright cause I go my way and she shuttles between her fav place and 7/11 air con. But I want to visit at least

5-6 places during those 30 days and Im already nervous about that.

Obviously I know the majority of you peeps dont deal with this kind of temperature delta but still I wonder if this hardcore trait is common for Thais.

  9. How does car navigation works when you can’t type in Thai like e.g. assuming I'm in Bkk and I want to take a trip to Hat Nang Ram beach in Chonburi.
    If you just type "
Hat Nang Ram" will your navigation find it?

Also how does it work for addresses in a city where you would more or less interpret / compose the English name writing yourself

and you might not necessary catch it appropriately. Do you get good suggestions?

  10. Was there only once in 2007 and I really enjoyed it but somehow I never returned.

Almost no massive resorts at that time but I remember a couple were already in the planning.

I remember every one was leaving the key on the motorbike and authentic smiles everywhere. Is that still like that?

Also no bars since the island was completely in the hand of Muslim fishers.

    Also lots of caoutchouc plantations.

and all that sight distance of Phuket...

  11. ^ visited Koh Chang 4 years in a row starting 2006 and on the last trip Lonely beatch was already seriously trashed and full of shitty bars and scams when before it was just the Tree house.

so I bounced with tha quickness. Would rather drink bleach than going there another time now I dunno this island went from an insider destination to a lotus tesco island

in just this time span so yeah pass.

Baan Krut and Ao Manao added to my "to do list"

Its seems to me that the coastlines of Thailand must be filled with deserted paradise beaches.

I mean, the international tourist spots are just tiny little spots on the map in comparison (Samui, Patong, Krabi, Pattaya etc etc). And then the local tourist spots, even smaller (Hua Hin, Cha Am).

I don't get it when people say, "Thailand has no more paradise beaches left..they are all polluted and corrupted.."

Am i missing something here? Are the rest all taken up by the Navy and heavy industry, or something? Or have we never driven down the coast and stopped at places?

Believe me that any "paradise" beaches you might find will certainly have a karaoke joint just down a ways and will be blasting music all nite long...along with out of tune Thais caterwauling along to it. Thais can't stand quiet...it makes them nervous and of course the noise keeps those ghosts away. But good luck in your quest.

Thats what makes them dope imo. Peeps e.g. in Vietnam don't have this joy of life.
Thais have the best savoir vivre in whole SEA even if that means they'll be broke for the rest of the week / month next day.

  12. Also I can see why Crazy chef 1 says the traffic is not dense since its essentially motorbikes compared to cars and bus in bkk but living

there I would eventually get nuts quickly because of the uninterrupted horns of those flaccid motorbikes. Basically you fell like it will never stops

whereas I now lots of big streets in bkk where its calm at 10 pm.

Here you have a couple of thousand motorbikes in one shot.
