he also fought international boxing early on in his career before switching back to Muaythai, there has been plenty of Thai's with decent boxing over the years Saensak Muangsurin won Wbc belt in only his 3rd professional fight, Samart Payakarun who was a legendary Muaythai fighter, plenty of others in the lower weight divisions, the issue isn't so much about a 16 year old, but the pure size difference, as you will struggle to find a decent Thai fighter over 70 kilos Tyson around 100 kilos in his prime

Yes Parr had about 10 pro fights. Was a Muay Thai fighter with good Boxing skills. But I think there is more to it than size. Boxing and Muay Thai/kickboxing are different disciplines. Being at the top of either with years of experience so not a 16 year old and then the weight makes less difference. But huge weight difference and different disciplines as well as being young with less experience is asking to much.

Sorry I don't know how to post YouTube links but look at Kaoklai Kaennorsing "The Man Who Fought Giants". Fought some of the biggest and worlds best kick boxers giving away a lot of weight. See what he did to Mighty Mo

Nokweed is another good example. Did quite well against Jerome LeBanner who was one of the biggest and best kick boxers of his era. Just look at his trilogy with Mark Hunt, brutal

Correct me if i'm wrong but MT is a boxer, correct?

One assumes he does not know the art of Muay Thai.

You would find no thai Muay Thai fighter willing to have a boxing match with MT, Muay Thai fighters cannot punch!

John Wayne Parr one of the best western Muay Thai fighters if all time can box. 43 years old he fought Anthony Mundine (a pro boxer) last year then retired. Now fighting again.

But yeah the 16 year old comment is a bit much.

Thought I'd bump this topic up. Saw one of these today in Korat. Must say in the 13 years I have lived in Thailand this is the first time I have seen one. I checked 2car.com and there were a few of them for sale. All used and the cheapest around 1 million baht. I think they are cool little cars especially in Thailand where most every car is under powered. The one I saw was exactly like this one, a 2 liter TSI. Running the same engine as a GTI, 2 liter petrol turbocharged. Stock with 217hp but easy to tune to 300 and up.

Absolutely love those cars. My brother has R model , 265 HP. Every time I go home and drive it puts a smile on my face. Angry little beast.

Ducati have already built a naked V4 streetfighter. It was debuted 2 weeks ago at pikes peak annual hill climb entered under the prototype category. The famous rider Carlin Dunne, first ever to achieve a sub 10 min lap time sadly died on the last corner before the finish line.

You can get the translation done at Chang Wattana (Consular Building) in BKK. They have a desk near the front will do the translation and then you take the copy upstairs to get it legalized. They no longer do same day service. When competed they will post it to you — it take only a couple of days to get it back.

Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Allow me to add a crucial piece of information that could save a long wasted trip to Chaengwattana as I just wasted 4.5 hours and found out the hard way. Before you attempt to go there for a certified translation in Thai of your passport, you must first go to your embassy and get a certified copy of your passport by your own embassy or you will simply be turned away at Chaengwattana

My experience in Hua Hin.  My daughter was 5 and we went to the Amphur to register as the legal father.  First, I needed my passport translated and certified by the Foreign Ministry -- name must be spelled the same in Thai as on the Birth Certificate.  Second, mother and daughter had to go with me to the Amphur -- we did not do this in the same Amphur where my daughter is registered but we did have to have copies of the Blue Book where she is registered.  Third, my daughter had to be able to write her entire name in Thai -- we were told this when we check about the process a year or so earlier.  Other than making the trip to the Foreign Ministry to do the passport, the entire process was simple and no fuss.   Hope this helps.

Thanks for post, very helpful. Could you tell me where the nearest foreign ministry is to Hua Hin that does this translation?

In order to apply to become a Thai Permanent Resident, you must meet the following criteria:

    • You must have had a Thai non-immigrant visa for at least three years prior to the submission of your application. Holders of multiple NON-Immigrant visas can not apply. You must have 3 consecutive yearly extensions in order to qualify.

    Hi Hummin,

I've had a multiple entry non O based on children and de facto relationship for the past 10 years, renewing every year. Is this what you mean by multiple non immigrant visas?

So I can't apply for permanent residency with this situation?

I think you will find most immigration offices wont do a resident certificate on a tourist visa because you are not a resident (doing 90 day reports) , you are a tourist. A resident certificate is exactly that, a certificate that says you reside in thailand for longer than 90 days.

A friend of mine got one in phuket a month ago. His planned stay is 2 months and got it on his 3rd day in the country. He did have a Apec card. Not sure if that carried any extra weight.

Thailand doesn't acknowledge de facto relationships. The rest of your info is very suspect.

No Thailand doesn't acknowledge de facto relationship but they do offer the type o visa as a parent of a Thai born child.

What is suspect? This is what was requested from me last month, after applying for this visa for the first time in this particular country. Which is a lot more than i usually need in my home country.

  10. I just renewed my non immigrant multi entry O visa based on based on child dependants and de facto relationship. This visa is valid for one year but you have to leave the country every 90 days. The consulate requested the following :

-A round trip ticket paid in full

-Bank statement with adequate financial support. 200,000 baht per person

-a copy of marriage cert, if your married.

    -copies of children's birth certs

-an original letter from spouse/family member in Thailand verifying stay a if relationship and support for applicants visa

-copy of Thai spouses valid Thai ID card, valid passport, Thai house registration

-letter from applicants employer verifying relationship and reason for visiting Thailand confirming relationship

-passport with validity of no less than 6 months

-one recent photo of applicant attached to duly completed visa application form

-copy of both spouse/family members passport bio data pages.

  11. I think the work permit for a consultant would do the trick allowing periodical work throughout the year - at a cost

unless you form your own company and get the full WP that way, your suggestion will not work as a WP is tied to the company concerned...there is no "consultant" WP which allows ad hoc work for various different companies ie "self employed"

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys, much appreciated.

I will not be self employed, rather employed by a Australian company to carry out work for a Thai company.

Does a consultant WP have to be applied for by a Thai company or can a Australian company apply for one?

  12. I was wondering if anyone has any information or advice on a work permit for occasional short notice work.

I live in Thailand with my partner and children and stay on a non immigrant O visa. I travel to Australia and PNG for work as a sub contractor in an engineering field and on the odd occasion the main company I contract to which is Australian registered offers me breakdown work in Thailand which I have to decline as I have no work permit. As the work is urgent when offered there isn't any time to apply for a permit so my question is there a work permit that I can apply for to have on standby for such work.

Sorry for the lengthy question and any advise is appreciated
