  1. No, I live here in Thailand. I was last in the Philippines in 2014 when I had to make a connecting flight there from San Francisco to Beijing.
  2. I don't tip my doctor or my dentist when I get my teeth cleaned and I don't tip cashiers when I buy groceries. However, I tip just about everyone else because having driven a taxi at one time in my life tips were a good part of my income and greatly appreciated. I remember in the early 1970s Australians would never tip because it was not a custom in Australia but they eventually learned to do it and became very good tippers. The French, on the other hand, could not be excused for their failure to tip because tipping was a common practice in France and they knew better. Also, I tipped in France, so it really ticked me off when they refused to reciprocate. Anyway, I tip my barber a hundred baht for a 120 baht haircut and just about everyone else, even jitney drivers.
  3. If that was true, I'd get my fat ass down to the Beach Road and start eating Thai street food. That having been said, I will now get busy on my newly bought treadmill----which I should bought when I first moved here.
  4. Says the man who can't even come up with a rebuttal. 😆
  5. It's a city where women are women and so are half of the men. That having been said, San Francisco was once a truly great city.
  6. On the contrary, I think it went over yours. However, if it really upsets you so, then do feel free to present some evidence to support your allegation.
  7. Not since early February 2019. However, I do know that if I compared downtown Rayong with downtown San Francisco, it would be the latter that appeared to be a Third World city, not Rayong.
  8. When I lived in San Francisco I saw a guy about 25-years-old being attacked by a Pit Bull. The poor guy had jumped up into the bed of a pickup truck that was parked nearby in an attempt to escape the enraged dog but it went right up after him. I immediately exited my car with a wooden Billy Club in hand and whacked the dog on top of his skull as hard as I could and to my utter amazement it seemed to have no effect on the animal. I then whacked the dog between fifteen and twenty times until it went into kind of a daze. I then grabbed a rope in the truck and tied the dazed Pit Bull to the pickup's lumber rack so it could not move. The police soon arrived on the scene followed by the animal control people and then shortly thereafter the dog's owner arrived just in time to tell me that I had no respect. (Had the police not been there I might have had to whack the dog's owner over the head.)
  9. The USA is another country that really needs to grow up when it comes to dealing with prostitution. In fact, if it would stop being childish and unrealistic and legalize prostitution, there wouldn't be so many nutjobs running around murdering women in the USA.
  10. The Angles, Saxons, and other Germanic tribes began migrating to Britain in the 5th century AD, following the decline of Roman rule there. Before that Britain was inhabited by Celtic people.
  11. That would be unfair and discriminatory to all the law-abiding British travelers. 😄
  12. Does anyone know where I might find a used electric car seat in good condition in the Rayong area? I want to try converting an electric car seat into a desk chair because I find car seats more comfortable than desk chairs. oslooskar
  13. Oh come now! You threw your hat in the circle and I responded by engaging you in honest debate, which apparently you can't handle.
  14. No, figuratively speaking, I just gave you enough rope to hang yourself, which you've done quite nicely.
  15. So, let me get this straight: According to you, I am bickering because I have asked you to be intellectually honest enough to back up your allegations with evidence?
  16. UH-OH! I see a sharp decline in the quality of your retorts, Kwilco.
  17. Given the fact that you continue to make allegations that you refuse to back up with corroborating evidence, I think we can safely conclude that you have no idea what intellectual honesty is.
  18. Well, then, you shouldn't have any problem articulating what that "EVIDENCE" is that your allegations are based on that my idea, stating that I have more freedom in my everyday activities here in Thailand than I did in California, is naive in the extreme. And do remember, I specifically mentioned, "in my everyday activities".
  19. If you're going to make allegations, at least be intellectually honest enough to back them up with facts. You can start by explaining why my idea, stating that I have more freedom in my everyday activities here in Thailand than I did in California, is naive in the extreme. Mind you, I specifically mentioned, "in my everyday activities".
  20. There is still more freedom here for me in my everyday activities than there was in California. However, I will acknowledge that if I was accused of a crime that I would be better off in an American court than a Thai one. Also, if I was a political activist I would certainly have more freedom in the USA to speak out against my government than I would in Thailand. BUT, I am making reference to activities in my everyday life as an elderly retired expatriate. Hence, I can drive along the Beach Road in my electric cart, park my car at the curb on the Beach Road, ride in the back of my son's pickup truck, get my medications at the pharmacy without having to go through a doctor here, go fishing without a license. Also, I can walk around the city of Rayong without any fear of being victimized by criminals or confronted by aggressive panhandlers.
  21. On the other hand, there is more freedom here for the common man in his everyday life activities than there is for his peers in the United States, which is supposedly the freest country in the world but isn't. My point is that the carefree Thai way of life has made my life a lot easier and hassle-free. So, for me, I find more positives here in Thailand than negatives.
