Why are westerners so offended over the word farang? Get over it.

Then you are are a Thai citizen, but you are obviously not ethnically Thai. Maybe Scottish-Thai would be appropriate -- as in African American. -

Would it be ok by your reckoning to call my kids Amerasian? I speak Thai and my wife speaks English, and to our knowledge the use of the the term "luuk kreung" to describe children of half Asian and half Caucasian parentage is not derogatory, nor does it translate to "half caste." Please point me to any evidence you have to the contrary. -

Do you have a Thai passport? -
You know surprisingly few hookers, eh? So that qualifies you as an expert on the nocturnal activities of beer girls. Are you Thai? If you're a farang, what makes you think your marriage with a Thai woman puts you in a different category than every other expat with a Thai wife? Your girl is different, right?

Not really, they make more money by being pretty and flirting with male customers; why so horrific to presume they might take the next logical step? Given your attitude I could presume some horrific things about your good self too. And she married one of her customers, so I guess folks weren't so far off base then, were they?

Jack*ss made a series of mistakes leading up to the fairly predictable result. Had it not been a "knife" it would've been a length of 2x4 or quite possibly a gun, which many Thais are known to possess. Cheeky <deleted> told the bloke to go home; there's a trigger if there ever was one. Now the fool's afraid to leave his own house -- som nam na.

Tourism minister questions Thailand’s 2pm-5pm alcohol ban

Same goes for postings on this forum. The rule has to do with keeping it away from kids after school, but mom and pop shops are selling so they can still get it if they want. -
Foreigners in Thailand warned about not wearing face masks
jing jing replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sometimes it's embarrassing, really, being a white foreigner here. At every Tesco Lotus, busy shop or market in the Pattaya area last month, I would estimate about 10% of foreigners were strutting about with their masks below their noses, as if they haven't a clue how it works. Maybe 1% of Thais are equally ignorant, but we are supposed to be more "civilized" than the natives... aren't we? -

In Isaan, most folks speak at least two languages. That's one more than most folks in the US and England can speak. -
Can Quarantine be Reduced?
jing jing replied to jing jing's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Lol I think you mean respirator not incubator, but I fully agree there is a huge difference between vaxxed and unvaxxed with regards to their respective threat to the public health. Anyone who has witnessed the carnage being done in the USA by the 30-40% of the population who stubbornly refuse to be vaccinated will agree that those folks probably shouldn't be allowed to travel at all, but if they are, ought to be subjected to the strictest quarantine possible. I say if fully vaxxed and tested within 72 hours of departure -- and then rapid tested again upon arrival at the travellers expense -- folks should not be required to quarantine at all. Any still-unvaxxed travellers from Western countries need to do at least 15 days quarantine and probably ought to have their heads examined. -
Can Quarantine be Reduced?

The management of my ALQ hotel just informed me as follows: "The government announced that guest who arrived before announced can be quarantine 10 days even they had vaccinated" It could have been better, but it certainly could have been worse; this trims 4 days off my quarantine period, and anyone who's done this before knows that's a big deal. Who says they never throw us furriners a bone? -

That, I'm afraid, is the long and short of it. -
Here's my situation, no doubt shared by quite a few others: I'm fully vaccinated. Got my COE from RTC Los Angeles in mid-September, designated quarantine period no less than 14 days per COE, and arrived at ALQ hotel on 21 September. Am scheduled for release on 6 October. Now that the required quarantine period for vaccinated travellers has been reduced to 7 days as of 1 October, it stands to reason that I should be eligible for release on 1 October as I'll have completed 9 days of quarantine by then. Does anyone have knowledge or experience from the last time quarantine was reduced to 7 days, of whether those already in quarantine might benefit from the reduction as well? The COE states that final decision on quarantine period is made by the Communicable Disease Control Officer (at the airport I surmise), but each subdistrict has their own Public Health Officer with authority as well. Is there any hope of a sentence reduction for those of us already incarcerated?
