Hi,
Any recommended places to repair ipad out of warranty in Chiang mai . I am aware of the ICARE in Central Airport/Maya plus the Studio 7 in Central Festival and Maya. I called Apple directly. Apple Support advised to go an authorized dealer. Apparently, authorized dealer can repair free if it is not a hardware problem and also they can give you a estimate price to fix it. There is no cost to estimate to repair. Any thoughts much appreciated/.

From some googling this morning I get the impression motor shows are a small part of Telsa's marketing plan....along with avoid "paid" advertising. Apparently it's common for Tesla to skip many of the biggest auto shows worldwide...selective in what exhibitions they participate in.
Tesla Marketing Strategy 2024: A Case Study | Simplilearn
An In-Depth Look at Tesla’s Marketing Strategy
Tesla absent from China’s largest annual auto show - Global Times
To add to Pib's note, Tesla do not have distributors too. Luckily for Tesla, I understand from Youtuber Electric Viking that in China currently, about 20% of the distributors are making money. China is going through a rough time in the automobile sector.

Does the 100K cash have to be one account account or can be spread to a few accounts?
I talked to a BOI rep. He told me that changing to self insure is not a problem. I need to show prior one year account statement of 100k prior to renewal ( 2 months before LTR expire )He also said it can come from multiple accounts and can even be in money market fund ( of course cash equivalent ) No need to liquidate to cash .

Never dipping below 100k in a bank account used for health self-insuring -- be interesting to 100% prove. Probably asking only for end-of-year statements would be the solution.
I did my ltr with a health plan insurance .

EV used car market is a huge unknown at the moment as finance and banks aren’t to g lending on used EV at the moment
interesting info. I am sure this is bad for the ev resale market as I would think most buyers finance than pay cash . Ice cars going to be around .. -
Due to recent floods, I read on Facebook that car insurance does not cover water damage battery due to flood . Is this norm for 1sr class insurance in Thailand ? For those who bought cars that includes insurance , I hope flood and fire is included . Any thought about which insurance company has better coverage ?

can confirm the new 410 models all have PM2.5 filtration, the cheaper model does not display the PM2.5 level, it probably doesn't have the sensors but it does have the filter.
thanks , good to know that it have pm 2.5 filteration , only does not have sensor to display the readings, in/out . Appreciate your reply . -
Andrew,
thanks , my bad . I meant the 50kwh standard dynamic 410 for 899k model .
I am sure the BKK motor show will confirm if this model has pm 2.5 filteration present .
Thanks .- 1

Pm 2.5 is essential here up in the north. I am sadden to read the new 2024 BYD Otto dynamic 480 priced at 889k does not have it . It might be an omission by the media publisher . Anyway at least the next model, 945k Otto 3 premium 480 has the pm2.5.
-
JB,
I saw this on Facebook of their pm2.5 reading here in chiang mai .
it is certainly not 5 .

aarg, found out that Byd took out the pm 2.5 filter from the dynamic . Guess BYD had to cut some stuff out to sell it at 899k. However they did upgrade battery 50.25 , continental tires and reduce 100k.

looks cool , same price as current BYD Otto xtd, 1099k with similar upgrades as the BYD Otto 410 , 949k . All coming after may.

I can just see me in the drive thru, with the clerk scratching his head and calling higher authority -- while ten cars behind me are warming up their horns... I've got a few months to decide about Star Visa. They're a lot closer to me than Imm, plus no parking problem or streets to cross. Beside, hey, I'm a Wealthy Pensioner -- why worry about 1000 baht
It was a no go with central festival immigration . They told me to go Bangkok for tm 95. So star visa must be dealing with someone at the airport immigration. Hope it is true that chiang mai immigration can process tm 95. -

The Atto ADAS system works fine, but I have turned off the Lane Keeping function in the Infotainment system as I didn't like getting the occasional notification that I was too close/went over a lane separation line...or shoulder lane line. The road lanes in Thailand, especially in cities/towns like Bangkok, are narrow and often poorly painted well which can easily cause a Lane Keeping warning where there is really no danger. If you watch any Atto Youtubes say made about a year ago before a software update allowed you to turn off all or some Lane Keeping function you would see some people griping about Lane Keeping notifications....but those gripes seem to have disappeared in recent Youtube reviews after the software update which tweaked that Lane Keeping function and also allowed people to turn it off if desired.
I have been very pleased with my Atto over my 4 months of ownership/driving. No problems to speak of...only a few "minor and brief" issues talked below:
- when I first got the Atto when hitting certain bumps at certain speeds I got a small "squeak" in the rear seat area if no one was setting in the seat....I took to car back to the dealership one afternoon to point-out the problem....their mechanics immediately started working on it...no appointment needed....they removed the seat...reinserted the seat...tightened all the seat bolts....took a total of about an hour...no charge...free....and the squeak was gone.
- the morning after the car underwent its 1st scheduled warranty checkup which was the 3 month/5,000Km checkout in late Dec 2023 (which was really only a bunch of visual checks with the car on the ground and on a lift with some OBD2 data checks) when the wife and I began a trip the next morning about 40Km into the trip I noticed a low volume squeal in the front brakes when pressing them....not very loud...just a low squeal like you would hear when brake pads are worn out after many tens of thousand of kilometers. I decided to abort the trip....did a U-turn to go back to Bangkok but right after that U-turn the squeal was gone. So, we did another U-turn and completed our planned approx 200Km trip. That was two months and over 3,000Km ago. A visual inspection didn't show any problems. Maybe some road dirt got lodged between the pads and rotor and somehow that U-turn cleared the dirt...squeal gone...hasn't returned.
- and final minor issue was right after the OTA update from Ver 1.61 to Ver 7 several months ago the interior door lights (i.e., the pretty multicolor lights you can turn on of desired) had a glitch where the light on the right rear back seat door was on while the other 3 doors lights was off as they were suppose to be....and that door light shouldn't had been on as the interior doors lights were turned off in the infotainment settings and when turned off it turns "all" doors light off...not any door of your choosing. To clear this glitch I turned the doors light setting on and then immediately off...that rear door light then went off. Problem hasn't come back. I figure it was just a OTA software update glitch that cleared itself by me turning the interior door lights setting on and then off again...probably cleared some configuration file.
Yeap...knock on wood (my head) but above three minor issues are the only driving issues I have experienced after 4 months/over 8,400 Km of driving my Atto.
PiB, thanks for the reply. I like BYD Otto 3 option to turn off Ada’s if I decide not to use it (turn off once) unlike the mg 4 that requires a turn off upon a start. Appreciate your ownership responses .Will check put the Otto 3 standard 899k in may . not sure if the 950k model is worth it( larger screen and wider tires )

Hey Pib,
Can you, please share your driving experiences with your Otto 3 . I am most interested on BYD adas system ( I like your comment that you use standard regen with normal mode )
Have you disable any of their adas system.? Appreciate any experiences , the 899k baht may delivery with 7.9 se. 0-100 kmh sounds attractive even with the standard battery

recently discovered that I could use Wise.com to transfer USD's to my Foreign Currency Deposit Savings account at Bangkok Bank. Just choose "same currency" USD's to USD's and choose the SWIFT option for the transfer. I sent a low 5 figure transfer for only a $52 fee, and my credit union in the US would have charged me $80 for the same transfer. Had it done within 5 minutes with no hassle at all.
I was discouraged to open a foreign currency deposit at Bangkok bank because of the high fees and paperwork to withdraw to convert to baht for everyday expenses . Could you please share your experience why a foreign currency deposit has been your choice of account please? What are the advantages Besides having in USA currency? -

He can get me white or black performance now, so I told him to get me the white one and I will wrap it Porsche FrozenBerry. I should have it later this week.
congrats -
Good to know in Thailand , we have the option to disable till we enable it ( part of software menu) . This option available is invaluable as the comments I read on the video indicated that removing the ADAS function manually invalidates insurance coverage .
-
Good to know that BYD software here allow you to disable the Adas and keep it disable and do not require you to set it everytime you start the car . Thanks
-
I thought you can save your settings to Disable ADAS so that you do not need to disable again after startup . Are the Thai seal different than AUS seal. If not , how are your experiences with BYD ADAS.

for me I will only let the charge drop to 10% or below if I had no other choice OR I'm doing the once every 3 to 6 months recommendation by BYD.
i am in the same camp.I will do my normal dc charge from 20-80 for time savings
and will not let it go below 10 % soc.
Thanks

Just FYI. My curiosity satisfied...and I know when I drop below 10% charge what's going to happen in that I still have around 50 to 55Km left to find a charger. Cheers
This is very useful . Since I do not have a wall charger at home . For me I will just do my normal outside dc charging
- dc charge from Soc <10% to 80 % and then let it continue to complete 100% . Since I get charge by kWh for time spent for the last 20 % is no issue . Is it beneficial to switch from dc to ac charge for the last 20% charge ?
I always thought that estimation range in nedc was higher than wltp. It was great to see you achieve above nedc km as your trip a meter showed over 500 km. I thought using dynamic ( better than nedc and wltp) would even be less range than 490 advertised range but you showed otherwise .this has been very informative . Thanks
