  1. I married my Thai wife in Thailand, I have a Thai bank account and can place 400,000 baht in the account from a UK account. On my non-o visa application I put 300 days stay in Thailand will it be rejected, as I forgot it’s for 90 days.
  2. I am applying online for a non-o (Thai wife) long stay single entry visa. Can anyone please provide me with some support who has successfully completed the online application. Section Supporting Documentation…. 3 . Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party. Is this different to showing bank statements proving more than £10,000 in the bank. I don’t have a regular income into my bank as I am recently retired, but don’t receive a UK pension until 2024. However, I have a sizeable private pension fund which I can draw down from as and when needed. What should I provide the online application. Secondly, I am applying for the 1 year long stay non-o visa but will leave Thailand after 5 months to then return a couple of months later, is it best to get a re-entry permit prior to exiting Thailand. Rather than apply for the non-o multi entry visa, which I believe requires more information provided.
  3. I am similarly planning to return to Thailand to be long term with my Thai wife, in the past I have entered on 60 day visas to visit my wife and applied for extensions of stay. However, now I want to return on a non o marriage visa based on being married to my Thai wife. I noticed in the above response from the the visa team that….O Spouse Visa Conditions- The O Spouse is valid for a single entry 90 days or multiple entries 1 year from the date of issuance (period of stay not exceeding 90 days for each visit). I will be based in the far south and don’t want the hassle of leaving the country every 90 days on a multi entry visa. I apologise for my lack of visa knowledge I have not been looking at the visa requirements for sometime. I don’t want to go down the non o retirement route, any advice is greatly appreciated.
  4. I suggest those interested in this debate search on Google Scholar for relevant papers discussing the pros and cons of cannabis…. Read this one to start with… https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapsychiatry/article-abstract/2804266?casa_token=QOXbErpX3JgAAAAA:qMlczdek1C5Ra8EXu1NfKxNBm9CmnKzQm1AMvl7u4269ZQWSvWtgSmY8mfXQmqF_tu85WCPfgPQ Too many illiterates voicing their opinions or agendas without backing up with scientific facts.
  5. I have just purchased a Ford Wildtrack and I am not familiar with the car wax products in Thailand. What do members recommend to provide a high gloss finish, protect against UV and stone chips if possible.
  6. The initial money will be 800,000 thb to buy a vehicle which I will now register in my wife’s name for ease.
  7. Yes I was going to pay by cash, thanks for your response Thanks for your advice, I will look into the COR. If the car is registered in my Thai wife’s name will it be any easier and will she need a COR.
  8. I am planning to buy a used Nissan pickup from a car dealer in Thailand, can anyone who has recently done this explain the process of purchase and registering a vehicle. Additionally, what is the best process and cost effective method of transferring money from an overseas country to a bank account in Thailand.
  9. My ability to learn Thai is slow and I need a handheld device that provides voice to voice Thai to English translations. I have looked at the Pocketalk S model which has a 2 yr data sim and the unit costs approx €280. Do any members use translation devices or smartphone apps and what are your recommendations.
  10. Some useful information here. However, my question is once you have the one year extension what is required for departing and returning to Thailand. Do I need to complete a TM8 re-entry form at the airport and what about land crossing. Is the re-entry single use and can you buy multi use.
  11. I have not kept up to date with the latest insurance requirements to get a non o visa based on being married to my Thai wife. It’s difficult to see on websites with conflicting views. Can anyone who has recently acquired a non o visa based on marriage let me know what the health insurance requirements are. My wife gets health insurance from the hospital she works at and this also covers me for health insurance, would this be accepted by immigration.
  12. @carlyaiI appreciate your response, you made some good suggestions. I will add data cables as the property is over 500m2 and WiFi could be a potential problem. I am planning to put solar panels on the nearby garage roof, for ease of access. The plan is to have a gable roof using SCG fibre cement roof tiles facing east and west and install quality insulation. I would like some form of solar water heating but I don’t see it regularly used here as they do in Mediterranean countries, so if anyone has any experience I would like to hear from you.
  13. We have a good builder in place having seen their previous builds and they are currently working on my wife’s parents property renovation so I can more easily monitor their work.
  14. For those members who have gone through the process of having a house built In the south of Thailand and I am seeking your experience on a range of things. Firstly, I am looking at Q-con blocks for the external walls one option is to construct walls with 25cm wide blocks, or alternatively double skin walls using 12.5cm blocks with a 10cm air gap. The cost of materials is very similar but of course double the labour costs, and if I go for the double wall what about insulation in the air gap as I am concerned about insect infestation. I look forward to receiving your advice and hearing your experiences. Does anyone have any recent experience of the cost per m2 to lay q-con blocks and the cost of rendering per m2. Secondly, any advice on window frames and doors, the area where we are building is rural and very quiet so I am not sure if it warrants double glazing or not, and should I go for upvc or aluminium windows. I am sure over the next few months I will be further seeking advice from members here who have already or currently going through the process of building.
