  1. My 90 day report comes up on Saturday, i can't get to immigration tomorrow, can i do it on Monday without penalty?
  2. Are you serious???? Toughened glass will never break, we have the same hob and the glass is almost unbreakable and still going strong after 13 years... I make my own cheese and regularly put a pot on it with 20 litres of milk at a weight of around 25 kilos. Is this the first time you have come across this type of hob?... Man you seriously need to get out more.
  3. The wife alreasdy has and he will come over when he gets back into town and see for himself. He is working out of town, so there.... I already did it.
  4. I would say you are 100% lying and I think most people reading your BS knows you are lying... I bet plenty on here have had the same experiences as me... NOBODY on here has had your 100% perfection record.... Just read the other posts, they are all lying????.... Nope.... YOU ARE.
  5. I agree, some ARE good, but the vast majority are bad... based on my own experience I would say 70% are chancers... I come from the UK where there are lots of training programs for the basic trades with oversight and certification. In fact I don't think you can work on someone's property without the necessary certification. Here in Thailand I don't think any such thing exists, I don't think there is any certification or regulation covering trades skills. Colleges and universities are everywhere here, but none for trades it seems. Most people working in construction here are basically rice farmers working to earn some money outside the planting and harvesting season, especially here in the northeast. Every time we need some work done, my heart sinks.
  6. This is Homepro.... Wouldn't you think the biggest company in Thailand that covers this industry would have done that work already?.. Meaning they vet the workers they send to install their goods.
  7. I have never seen such aweful quality of workmanship as I have seen here in Thailand. We just bought a new load of bathroom fixtures as the old ones were starting to look a bit tatty such as chrome starting to look aged. The guy who fitted the new toilet has left out the wax ring because when he fitted it the water refused to drain out of the toilet for some reason. So he left it off and said call him if it leaks. The guy fitting the shower tried to fit it so low that it would only be capable of showering an either very short person or a child. Then we find out that there is only a 30 day warranty on the installation work.. The irony is that my brother in law is actually the regional manager for the whole northeast of Thailand for Homepro home installation department. Oh and once again they left a terrible mess behind them which is a feature of all Thai workers, they never clean up their mess. I remember having some work done on my house and they mixed cement directly on my tiled driveway and just left the detritus behind after them, I had to chip off all the hardened cement the next day and use acid to dissolve all the lime staining... We had an extra window fitted in one of the back rooms, the father in law said he knew a couplke of guys who were window 'experts'. after fitting we couldn't open it, so we got a different guy who told us they had fitted the window upside down... He took it back out and refitted it right way up, but the renedering work around the window is so bad it looks like he was standing on the deck of a ship in a hurricane while rendering the edges. If Thais arte seriously conscious of losing face, why do they leave such face-losing work behind them???? I have a list as long as my arm of other stuff, I would say 70% of work done by Thais is of very bad quality.
  8. I knew her online for 1 year and then 2 years here before I agreed to get married. But this thing is not tied to marriage (for those saying no need to marry), it can happen outside of marriage just as long as the farang was daft enough to buy the land, house and car.
  9. To be honest, I have personally known victims of this and none of them play around behind their girl's back... In fact in 13 years I never met a farang that did that... But then again I don't live in the flesh pits of Thailand. There are no bars where I live that are like Pattaya etc....
  10. Been in Thailand for 13 years, happily married to a Thai girl for 11 years... I am sure most of you know about the 'wham bam, thank you' scam. Farang from the west, comes to Thailand, possibly a regular visitor playing the bars and the girls, eventually meets 'the one'. Guy falls in love, she tells him he is different, even possibly refuses money (playing the long scam). Takes him to meet the family in some rural location, everyone loves him.. She takes him around temples and places of interest, indulges him with proper Thai culture. Guy goes home keeps in touch regular online chats, messaging etc etc...... Maybe goes to visit her a couple more times, decides to sell up in the west, move to Thailand permanently, buys that plot of land, builds a house on it, buys the shiny new pickup truck or SUV, usually in the girl's name for ease... Maybe by now they are married and even possibly a kid is in the picture. Then BAM!... Suddenly out of the blue the girl seems to go a bit cold, tensions are in the air, she scowls more than she smiles, then an argument is engineered. You are introduced to the end of the long scam. You lost the girl, your kid, your land, house car.... How many times have we read this??? I met my wife through an online community game, we started chatting, I hated living in the UK and always wanted to make a move abroad, so I took the chance. After having been in contact with her for over a year I finally made the move. I rented out my house in the UK and bought a 2 week return ticket with the intention of never going back. I make a living online, so I have an income no matter where I am. I spent almost 2 years here before finally getting married, I lived without a car no problem because my girl had one, I rented during that time... Once married I sat my wife down and explained to her that if we were to spend our lives together, I will buy a house and car, BUT.... The house has to be through a mortgage and the car on monthly payments. I had the moiney to buy both but I had read too many of these long scams, as much as I love my wife I want to be secure... I pay the mortgage and the car is already paid off. You see, if it all went south after a couple of years, I would walk away with minimal losses, the wife would be the one lumbered with the monthly payments, its all in her name, so she ends up paying for it. Call it mercenary but my wife understands... When I read all these horror stories like the one above I shake my head at how foolish the farangs were. In fact I know a Canadian guy who is just 2 years here with his relatively new wife and is currently building that huge dream home.. I give him a 50/50 shot.... Many of these stories that end like this might not even start out a s a scam, the girl may be genuine at the start... But there is a huge temptation dangling in front of her, she is suddenly launched from coming from nothing to suddenly having a 10 million baht house and 2 million baht car in her name and thinking "I could turn that lot into cash and my family would be set for life".... THAT has got to be tempting. It is also a common element that she is externally pressured from certain family members. Many of these disasters could have been avoided if they took my advice and did it the way I did it. Hope this helps anyone thinking about making the big leap, don't leave your country without your brain...
  11. You point to a single example that is an exception to reinforce your narrative that Thailand is a terrible lawless place... Then end with an insult to show everyone who really IS the child here..... Added to my 'ignore list'....
  12. Thailand is my home, NOT the UK sh******* Look up the word 'home' in the dictionary, it doesn't define it as the country you were born in, it is the place where you live.
  13. Just had a weird convo in our local Facebook group... It is really funny how whenever you have something positive to say about Thailand you get the farang mob who will gang together and try to convince everyone that Thailand aint a great place and then start to point out all the faults with the country and especially the people. I had one guy who seems to think there is no law and order in this country, I am not talking about police corruption, that exists in many parts of the world especially where they are paid very little... I am talking about him insisting that police do virtually nothing to fight crime... Right on queue the mob arrives and takes his side... So let's have a look at it from a statistical point of view... If a country's police are apathetic to crime, then wouldn't it be logical that there would be a massive problem with criminal activity in that country?... Seems logical to me... I come from the UK and trust me, crime is rife there, especially violent crime. In some cities you will see fights almost every Friday or Saturday night.. You literally can not walk the streets of a major city on your own at night. Yet in 13 years in Thailand I have seen 1 fight and that was between two rival villlage youths which was broken up by police very quickly and all were arrested had their hands zip tied and carted off. I can walk almost anywhere at night here and I feel totally safe... A cousin of my wife got caught stealing a tube of toothpaste from 7/11 and was handed a 2 year prison sentence.. In the UK you would be let off with a caution... Yes let's look at the stats... Thailand prison population is almost 370,000, in the UK with a similar population size it is around 90,000. In the UK I have had 2 cars stolen, I have been burgled twice, my car broken into and the CD player nicked 3 times and have been assaulted half a dozen times by drunken idiots. I have parked my car out on the street for 13 years here and nothing has happened to it, I have never had my home broken into and have never been assaulted by anyone ever. I am not saying Thailand is perfect, I know some crime happens as does everywhere but to say law and order in Thailand is non-existent is stretching it a bit..... Yet the mob tried their best to back up the Thai hater... There is a certain type of farang who want to live here and tear the place down at any opportunity and no doubt some will show themselves on this thread to tell me how wrong I am, and some will probably lie and make up fake anecdotes to reinforce their narrative... That is also very apparent about this type of person. For all its little faults I would rather live here than in that sh***** I came from.
  14. I can't agree... The world is changing fast, the east is rising and the west is declining... Countries like the UK have swept across the world for hundreds of years slaughtering people and stealing their wealth and resources and the UK was at the forefront of it. The multipolar world is taking off and the unipolar world led by the USA and their European sycophants in tow are in real danger... The multipolar world is made up of all the countries that have at one time or another been victims of the west and they have a huge axe to grind. The BRICS is about to explode with over 40 countries ready to join and another 50 countries interested... The 5 current members of BRICS have a collective GDP that is bigger than the combined G7 countries.... The BRICS countries within the next 2 years will hold up to 80% of the global oil and gas export markets.... The multipolar world is where the resources are that the west can't live without.... I see a seperation happening where the west will be cut off by the rest of the world which makes up 85% of the global population and they have a massive axe to grind with the west, they won't forget history... I can see them cutting the west off from trade and that will be the total collapse of the west. Nobody needs the west, they are drenched in debt, they live off the printing press, they are a fading market... The UK is probably going to take the biggest hit of all... They are cheerleading the USA on for war with China and ther Brits are desperate to be involved. If they think the sanctions on Russia backfired onto themselves, wait to see what sanctions on China does to them.
