  1. Bronx pizza by the slice open late closed Tuesdays on soi Diana east of 2nd road on the north side of street. NO ambiance, but good slices of New York Style pizza, very thin crust. Two slices 115 baht, one for 70, topping included, already baked. The pies are a bit pricey (480?) but I imagine large and arroy.

The new harbor mall has an all you can eat Thai buffet for around 120 Baht, I have not yet tried it but looks ok for the price and amount of food and your Thai companion might be happy there.

  2.

    JASMINE RESTAURANT

On Soi Beaukow just south of Volare Italian restaurant intersection (west side of street).

I have now tried this place a few times and have some good things to say about it.

They serve both Israeli and Thai food.

I wouldn't go to an Israeli place for Thai so can only comment on the Israeli food.

The original menu when they first opened was a cramped two sided one pager, poorly designed, and very hard to understand especially for English speakers.

    That has changed!

The new menu is crystal clear, with English and large pictures! thumbsup.gif

    I have tried:

    Shakshuka 140

Perfectly cooked poached eggs, tomato sauce too minimalist, served with side Israeli salad and pita.

    Ordered spicy and got it.

NOT served in the metal plan as pictured on menu. Served on plate instead.

Coffee or juice included breakfast only.

This was one of the better tasting Shakshukas I've had in town, but there really wasn't enough sauce.

    Hummous 110

    With pita.

Tasted of some tahini in it (but not too much which is good for me) and some whole garbanzos on top.

    Very good.

    Eggplant in tahini (forget price)

Roasted large eggplant piece SWIMMING in tahini

Nice. But this is NOT baba ganoush (eggplant dip) which you can order but it's off the menu.

    YEMENITE chicken soup 200

Very tasty. Smallish piece of chicken.

Served with two authentic side adds, one spicy.

I doubt it's world class Yemenite chicken soup because it's a COMPLICATED dish and uses really specialized spices ... but still, it was good eating.

IF you like things spicy, ask for either "spicy" or "Zhug" which isn't really pronounced that way to add to pretty much ANY Israeli dish.

    Great with hummous.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhug

You'll usually find the GREEN version locally.

To add, the excellent Thai waitress as well as the Israeli owner are remarkably friendly and seem to really care to make their customers happy, regardless of nationality.

As regular Pattaya restaurant diners know, that quite often is NOT the case!

Is this south of soi 15, north of the place restaurant and action street, on the beach (west side of the street) usually not many people, decent sized place, not small?

  3.

Just a heads up, with Big C on Second Road closing soon, I stopped in by 'Khao Suay' last night where I have enjoyed some great meals since Big C first opened.

And I was informed by the Cook that they will be moving at the end of the month, to Sukhumvit 21.

Very sad to lose another great Pattaya Restaurant to the other side of the Sukhumvit :(

I know of two big c's, one near Pat Tai and Suk and one on Pat Klang, there was a central on 2nd road north of Pat Klang or am I mistaken or did it become big c, there maybe one on Pat Nui? What am i missing?

  4. An urn full of water and little fish in the yard will help keep the population down. The mossies lay their eggs in the water and the fish eat the larvae.

Yes, I see these urns outside allover. Where do the fish come from and could I set this up in a semi closed area? What would I need to provide for the fish and how long do they live?

  5. Yes, it is a well protected area and i have seen wild life like no where else. A pigmy deer ran by me so quickly once it took my breath away. I am pretty sure what i saw was a bear but I still can not believe it. It looked smallish for a bear and not the dark black as in the pics more lighter perhaps brown. Seen many monitor lizards, the first one was huge, at least 2 meters long, they are incredibly fast creatures. I still can not get over the bear however. I also wonder about the wild chickens, are they really wild or they escape from captivity? What was the most impressive thing you have seen in the wilderness here? I started to notice insects more. Of course monkeys interesting to watch but i think best to keep distance.

  6. 2012 thread with 60 pages and 14000 posts, OK I will bite.

In case these have not been mentioned: Ala Tuca Turkish on 5th floor central, great food, service and decent prices, highly recommended.

Breezio at the Royal Cliff: incredible location and view, good food, decent prices, nice little day trip.

The Indian restaurant there is nice too but higher prices.

Sukushi, buffet or non buffet at central, there are two, good service, decent food, decent prices.

Of course The Place on Soi Bhokoa, near action street, great middle eastern food (thahini!), decent prices, fantastic home made french fires.

The hippo a tiny bit more pricey but excellent food and service at central beach side 6th floor.

The always hot always busy thai restaurant on soi Bhokao near oasis, any thai dish, decent prices. good food, late night too!

Coonum Jeen at south pattay thai near temple, and at soi bouykoa 7 day market.

Falafal at the corner or soi diana and bhokaow, if you like falafal you will not be disappointed, if you can, get the man to make it, it's an art.

Pretty cool all you can eat Arab place on 2nd road south of soi 15. I think only 200 baht however if you take away they raised the price. Great place for non thai flavors and spices.

(not sure if i am allowed to say this but i no longer eat at kiss, i can not recommend it, quality and service varies too much)

Remind me to read this entire thread!

HAPPY EATING AND FEEL FREE TO SEND SUGGESTIONS MY WAY.

  7. Out in the woods of course, not huge but big enough to be scary though he/she was more afraid of me. Google calls them Asian bears or sun bears. Anyone else seen a wild bear in Thailand or was my mind playing tricks on me? Other possibilities: very big monkey, very small elephant, pig or hog though, I distinctly recall seeing very large feet along with a fat wobbly body crawling around on fours. My first thought: BEAR
