That border is closed old chap, has been for months.
Thanks for the info and very understandable with the civil war going on there. I could make a new topic but how about a border run to Chiang Khong instead?

As per the title chaps. :)

I have to leave by November 21st. I should have the funds in my bank account within 2 weeks.

For the application for non O the funds only need to be in bank on day of application.
Obtain a TM87 to apply for Non O.
Which immigration office.
You require 15 days + remaining on your visa exempt entry permit.
You can extend your 30 day visa exempt entry by 30 days if needed
The Non O will provide 90 day stamp permit..
The application for extension requires funds in bank for 2 months.
I should have mentioned I am already on a 60 day extension to my marriage visa. Is it still possible for me to obtain a TM87 and apply for a Non O or am I forced to leave the country either way?
My immigration office is CM.

Bumping an old topic but if I was able to leave the country and come back on a visa exempt and before that expired I had 400k baht in the bank for 60 days, would that fulfill the requirements for getting a new 12 month marriage visa?
-
Quick guestion guys - when applying for an extension of stay based on marriage, is there a time limit or can it be done anytime before your visa expires?
Also on a side note, can this extension be applied for at Central Festival Chiang Mai or would one need to go to the aiport location?
TIA!

Have you already used "60 day extension to visit wife" .
When will you have the 400k.
It only needs to be in bank for 2 months.
If you kill off your non O by exit Thailand and obtain SETV that means you start the process over.
You would need to obtain a non O and subsequent extension.
Very messy and somewhat costly.
Bad plan.
I haven't used the 60 day extension - was not aware of it until I made this topic and very happy to find out about it. ????
I could potentially have the 400k today but it would involve selling company shares at a time I would prefer to hold onto them. Ideally do not want to start the process over again but not the end of the world if I end up needing to do it.

As above multi or single entry O visa from Savannakhet is available and if get multi can cover up to 15 months with 90 day border runs, and could be extended for one year when you get the 400k in bank. Be sure to read requirements (invitation note from wife and copy of her ID card believe is required). If travel from Bangkok/Pattaya believe frequent visa run vans have all inclusive plans (you do have to stay a night in Savannakhet).
I will be travelling from CM but happy to make my own way there.

Go to Savannakhet and get a Multiple Non-O on the basis that you are married.
No Financials needed (except the money for the Visa)
caveat is that you have to do border runs every 90 days but the visa, with careful planning, will last you 15 months+ so more then enough time to get the financials in order
This sounds like an excellent option! Do you know what the visa currently costs? And would I have to go through all the proof of marriage steps again after this? I assume not.

Sure, do a boarder run and come back with a tourist visa.
I did it last year.
My extension to stay was near its end and we were traveling abroad, So we went on our trip, I came back visa exempt , did a 30 day extension to the visa exempt. Then got an Non Im 0 ,which if I remember correctly " gave me another three months . And then I applied for another extension. Dont quote me on the exact extensions after I came here visa exempt, I might not remember it exact,
But it would give you time to re-build you funds.
Just remember that if you come back with a tourist visa, you will be starting the Extension to stay based on marriage again from the beginning (visit to the hoe, pictures etc) but no big deal.
This was my original idea before making this topic. I am aware of having to start the marriage visa process again and would have put up with it.

You can get a 60 day extension if that helps.
Actually I didn't know that, that's great! ????

Hey guys,
I've been living with my wife for a few years here on a marriage visa but I may not be able to get the 400,000 baht required for the renewal in time. Is it a good option to get a tourist visa and then apply for a marriage visa later when I have the funds available? Or is it risky that I could be denied?
Cheers,

Hello,
I just had my marriage visa approved today. I am hoping to qualify for it next year by sending over the minimum 40k baht per month from outside Thailand. However, I saw that if I go down this route then I need a letter from my embassy. However, the source of my income is not in my home country. Does this mean I cannot qualify? Also, if I can get my visa this way, do I just need to receive money every calendar month or how does it work?
Kind regards,

I have an education visa until about the middle of next month. If there is no amnesty in August and I have to leave I want to know what the current situation is like. Would appreciate some answers to the following questions:
- Can I stay here and get a marriage visa in Thailand? I have all the necessary paperwork to get married here with my fiancee and have had 400k in my bank for 2 months.
- If I get married and come back is it expected I be able to return ahead of tourists?
- I am coming to the end of my education visa. Before that I was here on a combination of tourist visas and visa-exempt stamps and also had 2 education visas prior to this. Am I likely to be given another tourist visa if I applied?
Many thanks in advance for any help offered. ????

Got my appointment booked at the UK embassy already. As far as I understand it, I need to get it translated to Thai and taken somewhere to be approved by the Thai government. Can someone guide me through that please? Cheers!

Hello,
I need to head to immigration tomorrow (Friday) to get my 90 days renewal done. I was told I need to get there about 6am to ensure I get processed as they only issue 100 tickets per day. I was wondering if that is totally accurate and also if there is any alternative like doing it online? Can my fiancee go and get a ticket and wait in place for me?
Cheers

Really depends which immigration you go and where you live I guess. Can't generalise it like this.
Yes the Marriage Extension (Visa is anyways done outside of Thailand) has more paper work involved and takes some preparation. But it's easy to get if you have everything done correctly. Also that witness thing is not enforced by all immigrations.
@Chesterpot PM me if you want a todo list for the marriage visa extension I build myself the last 2 years with personal notes. Happy to share it ???? small things like "2 photos per page only" is stuff I learned the hard way over time. Everyone else is also free to PM me. Don't want to share it in public as it contains some personal notes and I am lazy to delete them out of it ????
Ubonjoe a great member here in the Forum also constantly answering questions towards that the last months/years so if you search a bit in this forum you find some good lists.PM sent ????

The school should provide you with the paperwork required to get a Non-immigrant ED visa, and later an extension of stay.
You will need to go to a Thai embassy/consulate outside Thailand to apply for the visa. Should be no problem with confirmation of your course supplied by the school.
On re-entry to Thailand you’ll receive a 90 day stay. Towards the end of the 90 days you can apply for a 90 day extension of stay from immigration, which you can renew every 90 days for up to a year. After that you’ll need a new visa.
Thanks but it's the marriage visa I requite info about.

Ideally I want to marry in a year's time as it just suits us better. And I genuinely want to learn Thai so I am happy to go to school here. I've already paid up for half of it and they have the paperwork.

Hey guys,
I'm applying for an education visa but if I am rejected for whatever reason I will be applying for a marriage visa now instead of in a year's time.
Read some conflicting information online and know this is the best place to get up to date info so asking here about the process I should go through to apply for it.
All help appreciated. ????

Thanks again. The school I will go with did inform me about that but they said there have been no problems there. That said, I would like some more knowledge before paying for the tuition fees.

If you have not gotten a ED visa for a year or more Vientiane is a good place but you have to make an appointment to do the application.
Savannakhet also and no appointment is needed.
Thanks as always unbonjoe. ????
How about Kuala Lumpur?

Hey guys,
I was wondering which embassies are relatively safe to get an ED Visa approved these days. In my passport I have one previous ED visa that was transferred and then 3 consecutive Tourist Visas.
Cheers!

That is the maximum fine with a minimum fine of 2000 baht.
Fair enough then. For some reason I believed it was a straight 1,600 baht fine.
Reporting back, I went to Mae Sai and all was well. Immigration were very friendly and didn't think it was a big deal.
Border run to Tachileik/Mae Sai ahead of applying for a new marriage visa - viable?

I have the 400k baht in my bank ready so could do it as soon as I get back to Chiang Mai, which is where I would apply for the marriage visa.
I thought the Non-O option was exclusive to Savanakhet if I have to go down that route?
