Second extension is exactly the same as the first. Just do what you did last year.

What do you think the chances are of ever getting caught? Very, very slim I think. I've lost track of how many trips I've taken in Thailand. To visit my wife's family, to visit friends, etc. Never reported anything and never had a problem. And the fine for not reporting is how much? I think 3000 baht. So if you get caught, pay the fine. No big deal.

Nonsense
It has worked for many people until the last few days.
So how long is it taking to process these online applications now? When I did them previously, they were approved the next day. But I hear they have added another step to the process, approval by the local office and now the process takes a lot longer.

I ran into this a while back, googled it and found that the solution was to disable browser add ons. Did the trick.

You will also need a letter from your bank and proof of address. The length of time the bank letter can be valid seems to vary between 1 and 7 days. I obtain mine one one day before I submit the application. Not sure what the letter actually says because it is in Thai but seems to be a standard format.
You only need a letter from the bank if you are using the 800K Baht in the bank to prove income.

You didn't say how old you are or your income. If you are at least 50 and have an income of over 65,000 Baht per month, a retirement visa is less trouble than a marriage visa. And getting a visa here in Thailand like I did is easier than doing it from abroad. No medical or criminals records reports are needed and I think even the proof of income is simpler though I suppose that depends on the particular embassy or consulate. I'd guess you could just come in with a tourist visa or maybe visa exempt and get your marriage or retirement visa here. When I first moved here, I got a refundable onward ticket to some nearby country. Didn't cost much and of course I got my refund.

on that type of account they can not issue a debit card. you are required to go to the bank to get your money or transfer it to a regular account that issues a debit card.
no there are no other banks that get direct deposit.
you can still get a visa card, they have to order it and takes a week. you have to push them. make sure you tell them you need it to make purchases on line! the union pay card is useless and can not use for on line purchases.
what i do is an ach transfer to bkk. bank in n.y. it takes 2business days to get to my account. it is cheaper than swift. it goes to a regular account not the locked direct deposit account. a little effort to set it up, but when done works great. the only time i have an issue is when a u.s. holiday is followed by a Thai. holiday when all the banks are closed.
I don't know what if any is the difference with SS payments and regular transfers. But I transfer money to Thailand by doing an ACH transfer from my bank in the USA to the New York branch of Bangkok Bank. And yes, as soon as I did that, they disabled the debit card connected to that account. Told me I could open another account with a debit card. But I didn't bother. I just transfer money to my other bank account at K Bank, etc. Actually it seems like a good precaution, not having a debit card associated with it since I keep a lot of money in that account that receives the transfers from the USA.

Bangkok did start a new procedure about 18 months ago which requires the top official to sign off on all extensions of stay so the time has increased a bit as the reviewing officer now has to send it onward for that signature rather than being the final say and the passport has to be passed back after signed in another office.
I got my retirement extension last December. It took about an hour, hour and a half total from from when I arrived until I left with my extension.
-
When you apply for the yearly extension, you'll have to either show the 800K baht in a bank account or get a proof of income from the American embassy.
I really wonder why so many people get their retirement visas in the USA. Its so much easier to get them here.

I have an agent who has been doing my extensions in Bangkok for many years now and dealing with immigration in Bangkok is his full time job. He says one week.

No NFC and probably PIN+signature. Will take ages and much slower than cash.
Why would you make such an assumption without trying? I use my credit and debit cards, both Thai and American all the time in Thailand to make purchases.Could be the same at 7-11 as all the other retailers i've used cards at. Yes, sometimes I have to sign, but I don't really care about that or NFC. Been doing this for many years without a problem.

Looks like you are seeking for something to complain about.
I always pay cash except for larger purchases (a new TV for example), and here in Thailand I get held up by people paying small amounts using their debit cards or credit cards, and it is slow. When I use cash it doesn't take as long by far. When it becomes a simple tap of the card, a card that women will still spend a good time looking for in their bags, I will stop being a Luddite and join the club. People aren't in that much of a hurry here, even fast food takes a while.
I believe 7-11 sell True money cards, is that when you mean? I don't see a need for me to loan the 7-11 company money for free, an NFC enabled bank debit card or something similar on my phone would do that job.
I just noticed a sign in my local 7-11 that said they accepted credit cards for purchases of 300 Baht or more

Money cards .
They are just ways for companies to get information on us to sell.
I guess some people want 1984 already.
Let them have it. I could care less.

The question is whether there is anything in the application that gives them access to your credit or court records in your country. Do they even ask for your social security number if you are an American. If not, they have no way of getting this information anyway.

Having had the same issues.
I disagree with the comments about small suppliers not doing the shipping to Thailand.
I've found that if you send an enquiry to the supplier attach a photo that contains your direct e mail address they will contact you and ship directly cutting out Amazon.
You need to attach the photo as if you put your address in the message Amazon filters will block the message and they never get it.
The independent sellers who sell on Amazon have no control over whether Amazon ships their products internationally other than to not opt in to international shipping. But if a seller does opt in, Amazon will usually not ship the product internationally, but in a small percentage of orders they will. And Amazon will not give an explanation.
-
I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon. But I have a mail forwarding service in the USA. Since I have Prime, Amazon ships it free to the mail forwarder and the mail forwarder ships it to me in Thailand. Lose a couple days on the extra shipment, but that's not such a big deal.

I got my Non-Imm O-A from the LA Consulate in Feb. For me it was a simple process(others will disagree). If you are in LA now you might consider getting the O-A there. The 3 key things are completing the following:
1. Financial Qualifier(you can bring evidence of money where you currently have it and it does not have to be in a Thai Bank)
2. Police Background/Check Letter(the Local police background check was accepted by the consulate)
3. Medical Examination(I had it done at a local clinic that specializes in US Immigration Visa/Citizenship medical exams).
Presented the application packet on a Thursday morning in person and I picked up my passport with the O-A Extension of Stay at 1030 on Friday morning.
The other option is the Non-Imm O that can be obtained in Thailand(you can search Thai Visa for the information on this option).
Good luck on your journey
Yes. You won't need either the medical exam or the criminal background check if you get it in I have a retirement visa and it was really easy to get in Thailand. I don't know what advantages doing it in the USA might have.

I think like most every immigration rule it depends on the province. My understanding is that in Bangkok it can be no more than a week old.
-
I just pay someone to do it every 3 months or so. He does a good job and it only costs 500 Baht. Or you could call service for your A/C brand. But its likely to cost 1000+ baht.

Immigration are disgustingly corrupt. There are so many idiots that feel intimidated and are unwilling to stand up for their rights. I've been asked countless times for bribes or even if I wanted the change. Every time I refuse. I knew one guy who paid 2000 bhat every 90 days as they asked him to.
Khon Kaen Office even had a tip box and I saw people actually putting money in it!
I've been here 8 years and never had a problem with immigration or seen any evidence of corruption. But maybe that's because I'm in Bangkok.

There is a 7 day grace period after the deadline date. No fine, no problem. I've reported a few days late a few times.
A humorous incident I witnessed. I was in the front row waiting for my number to come up. People would go to this one IO's counter with their 90 day a couple days late. This IO would tell them they had to pay 3000 Baht. They'd tell her about the 7 day grace period and she would yell at them. So a line formed outside her supervisor's office. Eventually her supervisor came out to talk to her. But she argued with her supervisor heatedly. Finally someone higher up came in and talked to her and finally she relented. By the time I got to her, she accepted my late 90 without comment. She really wanted to collect those 3000 fines.

Yes it's normal, but it doesn't happen very often. Maybe it's because you're on a long term visa/permit and they wanted to check you out as you haven't been processed through their office.
I think it depends on the province. I've lived in Bangkok a long time and have never heard of it happening here. But I've seen posts about it happening in various other provinces.

Yes. That's my question. What is it that you supposedly did wrong?

I've done many marriage extensions and have never shown any such proof. I'm in Bangkok, maybe it's different in your province, but are you sure you need it?

Who cares. If they can help and you can afford it, use them. As far as them paying off immigration, who knows and who cares. Why be so moralistic about it?
