  1. I currently use Youtube and Dailymotion to find good tv series from UK or foreign TV with English subs. This can be old or new series. Can anyone suggest alternative "Free" sites which allow for watching and downloading ?
  2. I thought you had to make a bank deposit for your one year visa renewal and that you are not supposed to withdraw from this account at least 2 months before visa renewal application. When renewing my visa I make a 100 / 200 baht deposit.
  3. OP - an idea but there are originals and copies to be sent including old ones that may not scan well. Will check with DHL.
  4. Thanks I have sent hair products to UK by DHL from Khon Kaen, very good service. Will check next time I go to KK
  5. phone number is 080 664 3405 Sorry cant remember name will ask my friend
  6. OP - Thanks for your comment. That's what I was hoping they would do ( phone contact ).
  7. I have a number of important documents ( about 10 pages ) to send to UK. Due to current labour problems with strikes / proposed strikes in UK and also allowing for Christmas / New Year any suggestions for best way to send documents from here ? Not sure if recipient would be at home during normal delivery times to sign for documents.
  8. I need translation of simple Will ( English to Thai ) and signature. Secondly signature only for 2 other simple documents which are in English. I made a DNR document in English many years ago ( I always carry with me when out ) and lodged with various hospitals in Thailand ( also once in UK ) . There has in the past been cause in Thailand ( and UK ) to present it and my request was acknowledged. Does anyone know if hospitals in Thailand need a special document from my children in UK to release body for cremation locally and does this have to be in Thai language ?
  9. Seen beginning of rainy season, less now little rain. Will try to photo next time I see good specimen Ovoid shape, 1 - 2.5cm, chocolate brown colouring top whiter underneath, smooth top, slightly ribbed underneath, may feel slightly tacky and rubbery on back, movement almost imperceptible, very difficult to push with finger, I think that they leave a brown staining to cement road and in local small keep fit running track ( similar to that of cow / buffalo poo which "yes" sometimes enter park ), have not seen glitter track as with certain snails, have not noticed them in grass or roadside plants. I am sure I will get some hilarious replies but having worked in farming in many countries since the 60's I have only seen this 'insect' here.
  10. Thanks again for your comments. I have been to a number of funerals at different temples of Thai friends and I have an idea of the various arrangements. Also prices. My partner has finally got some sensible answers from UK Embassy and local govt / police requirements. I have already prepared a folder with various documents. Many years ago I prepared and placed a DNR request at all hospitals I attended. My local govt. hospital when I was in emergency asked me if the DNR, if necessary was still applicable. When I have been in a similar situation in Khon Kaen ( and even on general visits ) have never, except on one occasion following a major stroke with complications ( which I help treat with alternative treatment including for kidney failure ), mentioned the fact that I had placed a DNR with them. Guess its now just a wait and see. My local temples are only 2 - 4km away from my home, closer still if I am in the local hospital ( but 50km if from Khon Kaen ). Not sure about the catering side as I am vegan and some friends are vegetarians. Will ask for at least one dish to be vegi.
  11. Locals where I live outside of town cut grass in many places including local keep fit park, they feed it to their cows and buffalo.
  12. I have a dead laptop battery, anywhere in Khon Kaen ( my nearest big town ) to deposit it ?
  13. OP - Thanks for your comments, sorry to read of the difficulties regarding your Mum's bank accounts
  14. OP - Thanks for your comments. My next of kin in the UK have already agreed to funeral here and will attend if possible. The British Embassy were not helpful in any way and would not even discuss the mater over the phone saying that I have to fill in an online information form and "wait ! " for a reply. My friend here has already garnered information about contacting police, local govt office etc. and will arrange all sides of the funeral /cremation. Have found a lawyer to translate / witness my funeral wishes, going to see them this week and check that I have used all the correct phrases I.e. "Being of sound mind etc" on my funeral wishes. Now we just have to wait and see ....
  15. OP - Thanks lopburi3 for your comments. I am not married to a Thai but have had longtime friend for more than 20 years. Next of kin ? I have next of kin in UK but what happens if you don't have etc. ? What happens if you want someone other than family to agree about funeral ( local knowledge of what needs to be arranged to reduce stress on family members. The embassy doesn't seem to have an answer to this. They also don't seem to have an answer as to who can arrange funeral other than Funeral Parlors. They claim local temple funerals ARE expensive: not to my knowledge of those I attended here, even when the person was a well known person in the local community. My next of kin in UK have agreed no problem to my friend making arrangements for funeral so I have drawn up a document stating it is my wish to have a Buddhist funeral / cremation at a local temple and named my friend as organiser. This will be translated in to Thai and stamped by a lawyer. I am hoping that the British Embassy will accept this along with death certificate - if this of course can be given to friend. Then I must hope that the local hospital gives signed death certificate to friend etc etc. ( get translated to English and copied for UK pension office, bank etc. ). I am told that if I die the police and local govt. office have to be informed so I think I need to have my friend ask these offices now what needs to be done not to wait until I am dead. Will let you know how I get on with initial documents and govt departments.
  16. I haven"t used a TV for years, watching downloaded or website TV series ( Dailymotion / Youtube ) on my laptop, rarely full movies. Generally watch only in the evening for 1 - 2 hours. I would like something in the range of 20 - 28 inch to help view sub titled programs. Something to use WiFi or connect laptop to view downloads. Am considering 3BB package but unsure if any value as I mainly watch UK TV series or European, occasionally US. Nothing HighTech or too expensive. Any ideas please ?
  17. Does anyone know what "signing off" documents are required for request to have a funeral and be cremated at a local temple ? I follow no faith and have had a DNR ( used a couple of times ) and general document for funeral for many years. I have been to a number of Thai funerals of people I knew well and, wish to make it as easy as possible for the person that will arrange mine. Already advised my next of kin in UK with no issues. Have tried getting a simple answer from the British Embassy both in writing and verbally but no definite fixed requirements i.e. do I need to send a death certificate to the embassy, do they send it back with an approval document ??? Do they need something from next of kin ? Do they need a document from the person who will arrange funeral ? Can all of this be done in advance documentation ? Please keep replies to the questions asked - thank you.
  18. I have a friend whom I wish to carry out my wishes for a funeral / cremation in a local Watt. Under British law firstly next of kin in UK must approve and the document "signed off" by a lawyer in UK. Can anyone confirm this is necessary ? This is then sent by my daughter to me. The document must be translated in to Thai. This document would on my death enable release of the body for cremation. In my Will which relates only to the funeral I must nominate the person to carry out my wishes ( and this must be written by a lawyer in English and Thai ), attached with the English / Thai document from my daughter My questions are- Has anyone had experience of this ? Does anyone know of a lawyer in Banphai or Khon Kaen that has knowledge of this and can do translations ? I seem to be stuck in a spiral of what to do first etc
  19. In the end I found someone to talk to Kaspersky in Bangkok and they eventually sorted out the AntiVirus Package and found me a way to install the One Year Total Security that I had without extra charge.
  20. OP - many thanks for all the replies, whatever their message. In the end I found someone to talk to Kaspersky in Bangkok and they eventually sorted out the AntiVirus Package and found me a way to install the One Year Total Security that I had without extra charge. Again thanks to all
