I was there that day. TM-30. One motorbike taxi guy was right in front. And I've seen others later. And I saw someone handing several passports over. I would have used the online system, but ran out of time to get a user approved with the right documents submitted. I braved the queues one more time, but now I'm not doing it anymore. The agent brought me to a place where she could get the facade of immigration behind me in the photo of me. Apparently it was important to prove I'd been there.

Do you actually need a Sim Card?
goldmagpie replied to aussiexpat's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I get calls from delivery drivers. Rather than having them trying to find me in the condo, they call and I go out. Definitely worth it! -
whats the duty/tax on imported supplements?

When I got that far, the time they quoted as my shipment arriving was too close to when I leave. I should have ordered before. -

I am more than halfway through a bottle costing 39 dollars from iHerb, and expect to go through it before I go home. Shipping 11.59$. Would I trip the customs monster? I have searched Lazada and Shopee in vain. -
I activated the SIM on another device. All I needed was the bar code and number. It took time before I got it approved, though. I never did get a text to my other number that it had been activated, so it took even longer. The 20 Mbps package would only have worked if the Lazada seller had activated it, so they gave me a reseller code for 10 Mbps. The problem was that they had sent a piece of paper warning about that, ONLY in Thai. I should have done a Google Lens on that, but didn't. So I have to live with 10 Mbps, which actually is enough. I just wanted to try 20 Mbps.

They claim it will work from anywhere in the world: https://www.ais.th/4g/vowifi/en/ Unlike most networks where it only works in the network's home country. I've got it enabled on my phone (different network), and as soon as I turn on wifi, the network identifier at top left changes to «(network name) WiFi VoWiFi». The last word in white background. And I'm on a sub provider, and it changes to the host network name. I've never gotten my home SIM to work with VoWiFi in Thailand before. I've had an enabled phone with me the last two times. I haven't checked AIS. I've had the SIM in a phone that doesn't do VoWiFi. Might test it before going home this time. Most likely you need to be connected to the network when enabling VoWiFi. Maybe even IN Thailand?

Thailand Pass date bug
goldmagpie replied to goldmagpie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There was an error in a certificate that was discovered today. I made a new submission with the new certificate. I got a new QR code with the correct dates. -
You may be right, but the process outlined in the tab about using the app doesn't mention installing the SIM. What's needed is the bar code and number. I have seen shop assistants activate my SIM on their phone (November 2019), without installing the SIM. But I was physically present, as you have to blink to have your photo taken.

Translation: You thought I didn't know what I was doing, and tried to not say it outright. It should be easy to figure out if you have the app. Dtac Call is wonderful that way. Pretty much anything you can do on the phone you can do on the app, but you have to activate the app IN Thailand. I've used that app a lot lately, goosing things along if I'm being ignored. Which can happen even if I forget to dumb down my vocabulary.. It would have been great if AIS made an AIS call app. Unless wifi calling works abroad.

Thailand Pass date bug
goldmagpie replied to goldmagpie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When I called the guy said nobody would check my birth date, then later it was removed. So forgive me if I don't trust support too much. I'll probably try the link myself tomorrow, and see what happens. This thread? -
Thailand Pass date bug

I got two e-mails. One for each submission. An invitation to fix all the dates that's only good for 7 days. Glad I waited to do yet another submission. -
Thailand Pass Is Up And Running

I recommend documenting your seat with photos, which are time stamped. Do a video or two as well, and go from your seat to the row designation and get that on the video as well as stills. -
Thai Pass approved in just 30 seconds

Your assumptiom you'll be safe next to a vaxxed person is false. Who's safer to sit next to depends on so many factors your head will spin. -
And I'm sure you've heard of the Covid positive pineapple and other foodstuffs one creative country in Africa sent in for tests?
-
I checked two airlines. Qatar requires submission of copy of the test results. KLM requires hard copy. So yes, and you need printouts of EVERYTHING! Preferably multiple sets, in case your airline keeps the copy.

They have removed the birth date from the page the QR code links to, for just this reason.
