After today they’ll be overflowing.

I play in Isaan and I’ve never seen dual pricing. Where does it occur at golf courses. As for price, it’s much cheaper up here than in the UK. I also find the caddies great fun and often highly entertaining. Would be a lot less fun without them.

Sadly it’s well known to expats who live in Krabi that most of the locals really don’t like foreigners. Many families have become rich selling family land and would be happy if tourism closed down.

It’s already dumping buckets of rain over Isaan, as of 5.00am today.

No, the details have not been released and probably not yet even worked out.
If history is any guide they will be very convoluted, poorly explained, subject to varying interpretations and very hard to implement. A similar scheme to allow medical tourism to resume that was supposed to be in effect in July is still largely dysfunctional.
Although there may be many cases I’m sure it’s a tiny percentage of the 30 million who come and are not a burden. There’s always too much focus on the small minority.

In a later test it was proven to be a ‘false positive’ so he’s ok and the games needn’t have been cancelled. Better to be safe.....

There have always been cases in Thailand. The only place that I have come across someone with symptoms was in a Thai bar just off Ratchada soi 17 in March, a girl with a persistent cough.
It's quite naive believing the spin that they have been coming out with.
I believe there are quite a few people carrying the disease without knowing which is where the danger lies. But, without testing every member of the population, how do you fix that?

2 baht isn’t exactly flaunting your riches in fact it just a simple chain. Please don’t blame the victim.

Shouldn’t be chained down because it shouldn’t be on a pick up. We see it every day which is so frightening.

I wish them luck but as September is the wettest month and the sea is churned up from the storms it’s going to be an uphill struggle. I wish the 2 extra Songkran had been moved to October or November when the weather is more pleasant.

Whilst there is xenophobia present amongst some here, and it will certainly play its part in the "upper echelons" accepting these sorts of rulings, I don't think that this reflects deeply ingrained racism; more the inchoate nature of so much decision making here.
FYI the decision has now been reversed. But.... foreigners have a later date to register which means they miss out on the ‘early bird’ discount. Two tier pricing in all but name, but it’s good to see the decision changed.

Maybe it’s time to say “Thank you” for offering us the discounts too. There’s a lot of expats who have time on their hands and would happily visit more of the country. I know those who work will complain, but a serious discount for non-weekend hotel stays would please those who can travel at any time.

Sadly I think the male ego would account for most accidents. Thai men just have to get to their destination faster than everyone and they’re sure they’re all the best and safest drivers on the roads.

Right now I’m ok with keeping the borders closed. It’s protecting the country for the long term, Not looking at short term gains.- 7

Is this apart from all the workers testing positive for the virus after leaving Thailand and returning to their own country ? They caught it somewhere - obviously in Thailand ! And if they had it in Thailand, Thais have it in Thailand.
Where did you see news of this?

I'm convinced that Thailand has done relatively very well up till now.
But it would be tragic to waste all the effort that represents by relaxing too much and too quickly. That doesn't mean that new lockdowns are needed but if they blow it they will be.
Agreed. But, I think it’s unreasonable to expect no new cases once the country opens its door. It’s how the government reacts to a few days of new cases, that will be interesting.

If you were based in Krabi or Phuket I think the tsunami was worse as it hit right at the start of high season. As bad as this year feels, most businesses had 2-3 months of business before they closed down.

I take it that you will be unaffected by being in the wrong place then????
I lost my job because of it but I’d rather stay alive than try and return to work. The virus doesn’t move, people do. I wish people understood this.

It’s for people who are wheelchair bound to wave bye bye to family who are traveling. Very thoughtful. ????

Every person traveling outside their country should have to do 14 quarantine at their own expensive. It’s about time people realised that they are the carriers of this virus and by traveling they potentially move it around.

I see some countries are suggesting reparations. How about the billions of $$$ sent in aid every year that the greedy dictators siphon off to their Swiss bank accounts. Sort your own house out first before telling me about mine.

Better late than never, and perhaps look at European history. So called friends today, are tomorrows enemies. As for "We Euros". Are you some sort of spokesperson for all Europeans?
555....nope, not a spokesperson.....just a European....and someone happy to actually have some history to look back on.

Um, the euro Germans and Italians against some other Euros. We Euros would like to thanks the US for turning up late twice and wish they’d stop trying to start a Third World War. We’d be happy to defend ourselves as we’ve been busy making friends for 70 years, not making enemies. ????????♂️
