Is it possible that rather than criticising, the elite at TVF could come up with a solution? For me, a reduction is the first step. Sure, I still need large black bags for rubbish but no longer accept the bags offered at the local minimarts.

All this over reaction about having to visit a Immigration Office a few extra times a year is pathetic
I follow my local football team and at least once every 2 weeks travel to an away game and stay overnight. It means every 2 weeks I should waste a day reporting that I’ve successfully found my way home.

FYI, I was told in Buriram yesterday that if I overnight outside the province I need to do a new TM30 when I get back. Mind you, the officer admitted that it’s only really if I stay in a hotel as they’ll register me. If I stay with a friend there’s no record!

There are plenty of schools around Isaan that offer a good education, such as Assumption in Korat. Take some time to look around.

I've stood in front of a Thai immigration officer -- entering & departing Thailand --- hundreds of times and never once was I in a position to view his/her computer screen. Pray tell how did you see the computer screen???
In my case he invited me to view the screen, probably to show how ‘powerful’ he was.

Just be very polite at immigration. They have two buttons, one red one green. If they don’t like you they’ll just push the red one and you’e out of the country. An immigration official explained that as I travelled often my passport was ‘flagged’. At the time I was working 4 weeks on 4 weeks off. Quite scary how easily I could have been told to leave, despite doing nothing wrong.

You get the impression they start the process with 'where and how can we make money from this?' And then they start planning.

Yet again? Is tattoo removal a big issue on this forum?
No but people often criticise the wrong people in posts. Her the girl is being chastised rather than the tattoo artist who messed up.

I'd like to see the residency system made easier. You'd have to prove your willingness to become 'thai' by taking a test, written and spoken, as the do in the uk but I'm sure some people, like myself, would be willing to work for that if you could get permanent residency without the reporting.
-
Yet again, posters focusing on the girl being wrong rather than criticising the amateurish person who completely messed up the procedure.
-
Considering how many people like to accuse the Thais of not being able to speak English, I'm surprised we're criticising their politeness.

here is my scenario;
Thailand has been my base for nearly 20 years and through almost all of this time i have been working on jobs that have month on / month off rotations (offshore kinda set up). I was married with a visa to match for most of this time but after my recent divorce the visa was cancelled. Since the cancellation of my Non O Marriage visa i have continued to return to Thailand every other month through a Visa -Exemption. In many instances i work in locations remote from any city or should i say city that would have a Thai consulate, so getting the opportunity to apply for a tourist visa is zero to none.
By staying just within the 90 days in 6 months guideline (for what its worth), carrying the required cash in hand for immigration, carrying my Thai bank book and return to work flight ticket, i feel confident i will not face any problems but some of the stories here are telling me otherwise.
My own mistrust of putting any large sums of money into anything in Thailand makes the Elite card a non starter for me. Fingers burnt once is enough!
I am almost 50 but because I am still working (albeit outside Thailand) the retirement visa is a also a non starter.
Are any TV members in the same situation, have similar circumstances, can give sound advice?
I went through a period ,when doing rotational work, where they stopped me every trip. I explained my job (in Thai where possible) and showed them the air ticket. Not a big problem.

Not required reading but a useful book to read before your first trip. Of course, it might make you a little cynical, but as we know from here, most of ours are 'different' ???

I was previously told that 3 x 30 day stamps in one year is the limit at PoiPet. They told me land entry is different to the air route.

I believe it can only be done in Bangkok. FYI, I went in on 19/10 and was told to come back at the end of November. I asked about an express service and for B2500 it was ready on 25/10. Worth the money to get back to worth much quicker. I found all the staff really really helpful, even before the money was mentioned!

Certification of the copies in this case means signing and dating them.
UbonJoe, Do you know about the "Letter from the Embassy for Request check to objectives"?
-
For the passport certification, is that done at my embassy or at Chaeng Wattana?

They need to tighten up on the visa rules and screen people properly to ensure they have enough funds to remain.
I'd imagine that when he arrived he had enough funds so not sure that would help. Also, I'd not fancy the queues at Swampy if they had to check everyone on arrival!

Recently I've been asked every time I board to show that I have an onward ticket. There are very mush within their rights to deny boarding in Paris.
-
Maybe because they're really comfortable and take up very little space in your bag.

Went with friend who knows the boss man, an hour later walked out with book. ?

Guys, If I need to get a visa and medical for KSA, can this company help me and save me a trip back to the UK? Do I need to prove anything about staying in Thailand such as having a Yellow Book? Thanks, in advance.
