No assault or mugging should be condoned. Sad to read the sick comments suggesting a woman’s haircut somehow makes it ok.

I find that UK people have the lowest standard of proficiency in the English language in the English speaking world. I think they assume that they are number one. I have rarely met an English person that knows "lose is not loose" nor " have is not of"
On the basis of what research is this opinion? A few beers in a bar somewhere? If you can’t reference reliable sources, better to withdraw your comment.

With smaller places, I usually book directly with the accomodation. With larger places I’ve used Booking.com successfully many times. If internet connection is not so good, avoid online payments.

Not sure if records are kept of nationality of firestarters. Chiang Mai does not want him or his petty disputes, wherever he is from.

‘Crowded skies’ are not a feature around Hua Hin airport, or many other regional airports. If more flights are available to such places, that is surely a good thing.

Do hotels that laid off their loyal staff really expect them to sit and wait until called back to work years later? People move on so to attract staff hotels need to pay more and provide the training, as needed. Haven’t hotel managers been doing this?

His attitude is a reflection on how Thailand looks at us wanting to be vaccinated same as the Thai people. I have never gone outside my room without wearing my mask correctly, but I agree with his attitude towards Thailand 100% ????
His `attitude` displayed here represents the worst of the ill educated, self centred foreigners in the country.

Lets call on anyone who recognises this selfish individual to report him so he can be removed from Thailand. As a local resident I don`t want to see this person remaining here and further tarnishing the image of foreigners in Thailand.

With that number of new cases, we can be sure many more asymptomatic cases too and the spread will continue. When a population is far from having had mass vaccinations, this could be disastrous in the coming months. Mismanagement with lost opportunities to keep it under control. Australia, NZ, Taiwan and Korea have set the standard in dealing with this virus.

I spent many years living and working in Thailand. No regrets at all and still enjoy visiting family and friends there. And my story probably isn`t very notable either.

Currency exchange rates are always changing, usually slowly, sometimes more quickly. You may benefit or lose from those changes. Don`t assume these rates will not change. Don`t sweat on any rate changes.

Thailand needs the economic boost of renewed mass tourism but not the spread of Covid-19 that will inevitably result. Unless visitors are only allowed from a very limited number of countries or people are put under quarantine for 14 days on arrival, the spread of the virus could soon take off and be hard to control. That is the reality we have to accept, therefore keeping borders closed is the least worst choice.

Sensible measures in view of the return to school next month. Thailand`s government and people have done well in containing the virus spread, as have Taiwan, Hong Kong, S Korea, Australia and NZ.

Good to see social distancing measures, more widespread testing, contact tracing and public education in countries including Thailand, S Korea, Australia and NZ. Other countries with large per capita numbers of virus cases and thousands of deaths could learn a lesson.

Reporting no new cases of Covid 19 does not mean the virus has disappeared. The number of new cases is strongly linked with how people are tested, which also depends on how many people come forward to be tested. Restrictions need to be continued to avoid new outbreaks which are hard to control. Follow the lead of S Korea and Australia to get closer to eliminating the virus.

Back to normal is not something we can expect anytime soon. Alcohol sales is one thing but is minor in the broader scheme of things. Millions will be out of work or on reduced hours for a long time, in Thailand and elsewhere. If you have some income, that`s not so bad. Think of all those in hotel and tourism who have no work, no income and few prospects this year.
-
If Thailand can be a leader in vaccine development to fight Covid 19, that will be great. If any country is able to develop a safe, effective vaccine this year, that will great. The latter is perhaps the more likely.

Quite the opposite. Your lockdowns are doing more harm. You are destroying the lives of millions of healthy people for nothing.
Reports suggest 200k kids may die also.
What for? To save fat people who ate junk for 30 years? Killing babies to save junk food people. Destroying family businesses.
And all you can say is have a nice life?
Obviously don't care about anyone else.
This is satire, right? The measures to prevent virus spread are necessary, despite the economic pain. In Australia and HK people understand that and have no wish to see older relatives and friends suffer and die. That`s why we have lower numbers of new virus cases than in countries where ignorance or denial sadly dominate.

In Australia some strong measures have slowed the spread of the virus. This is vital to do, despite the hurt caused. The alternative of exponential growth of virus cases is far worse, eg New York. Armchair critics need to understand this instead of imagining all will be OK if people have normal freedoms.

I heard a lot of stories last night about how people are being kept in the provinces they were in when it really started sometime around the end of March. Earthmovers used to pile dirt on the lanes at highway checkpoints. People unable to even leave their villages. So I would argue that measures are being taken.
“I`ve heard a lot of stories” or news from reliable media sources? We need to just focus on the latter, not on rumours.

Some people stay at home, get on with life and can ignore it.
Others go out and mix with many other people in ignorance of the dangers to themselves and others.
Those who have Covid 19 but no obvious symptoms are perhaps unwittingly the most dangerous to those people they meet who are older or not in good health.
-
New cases are likely to greatly underestimate the actual number. As many with covid-19 do not show symptoms, they can unknowingly pass on the virus. With many laid off workers allowed to return home to the provinces without health checks, this will help spread the virus further. We can expect many older people or those in bad health to become very sick in the coming weeks. Expect a huge rise in cases over the next few weeks. This can only be slowed if we all stay at home or at least keep our distance from others.

Lets remember the impact of job loss on millions of Thai people over the coming months. Their financial problems will be worse than those faced by the average farang in Thailand.

Each additional year of vol NI contributions effectively pays for itself in about 4 years. Check out the excellent `Topping up your state pension` guide from the Royal London company, written by former UK pensions minister, Steve Webb.

Pubs and bars in parts of Thailand a step closer to 4am closing

4 am closing time means more drunks on the roads, more noisy people heading home late at night and disturbing neighbours who have to get up for work in the morning. Most people can manage their entertainment hours to finish by 1 am so let’s keep to that.
