Use Google Translate. it will avoid you getting scammed or cheated or sharing your lifestyle with some stranger.

Actually Google translate is not that good, but it can be used to communicate in brief exchanges.  Even then you might have express what you wish to convey to the Thai person by changing some words (like using 'also' instead of 'too'. Just an example).  If you're looking to get documents translated you might look for a Thai student age 17-18 who's attending Regents International School in Pattaya. That person will have a strong knowledge of Thai, because of his/her family, and will have learned English at the International school.

  2. Brother Farang, I can remember 15 yrs ago, partying hard on Soi 4, then the disco in the hotel or off the "coffee shop" Thermae. Shack up with a 'sweet thang' for a couple of hours and be heading over to the Nana Cafe to eat breakfast at about that time of morning. I even ran into a couple 'friends' there one morning. I haven't been down there in over 7 years; although, we drove down soi 4 at about 9:30 this past Wednesday and sighted a couple of 'thang' who looked like they were headed home.

Good luck in you quest. I just don't have the desire anymore...

They say Thailand has 3 seasons

Hot with no rain, hotter with rain  and bloody hot !

I have never heard that and have lived here 27 years. I guess it depends on where you live, but there's always been a 'cool' season in the descriptions that I've been given.

I think it is as long as you do not have any fissures on ye bungerer or open sores or lesions on your bottom.

I use the sprayer and/or the toilet seat washer (mostly imported from Japan or China).  I've been here 26+ years and never had a problem.  I use very little paper to dry my bottom.

    No worries, mate.

  5. I normally park under the building where the Burger King is located just West of Sukhumvit Soi 3. I then catch a taxi around to the Embassy avoiding all the  Witthayu Rd (aka Wireless Rd) traffic trying to find a parking space or dropping off people. Let the taxi driver manage that problem. After the consular business is finished, I walk back to the Burger King and eat. I forget the time allotted for free, but it was cheaper than parking at Sindhorn Tower.

All Seasons Complex has multi level parking, 5min walk and can access from Whittayu left side or from Ruam Rudee just past Soi1 right side

I've done this in the past, also.

  6. I've meet up with one of the moderators here at my house who helped me with a little project in his line of knowledge (only cost me a couple of beers and we got on well).  I think there's a lot of folks here who share similar ideals. Though, having a specific party and trying to get a bunch of socialist, communist, terrorist, democrats, conservatives or republicans together is probably not a good idea.

  7. Simon, I don't have a bunion (Is that what that large knuckle is called)... Other than the large size of your big toe knuckle our feet look surprisingly similar; although, your toes are longer than mine (or appear to be). I would have said that the "flat" spot before your second toe is swelling (or edema, possibly from some irritation in that knuckle, but that's pure speculation).

Now, about the pain in the 2nd knuckle joint of your 'longest' toe. I had that problem about 15-16 years ago. I went to see my orthopedic surgeon who'd done my knee replacement.  He told me it was Freiberg Disease and prescribed Voltaren 75 mg tablet once per day. It worked. I took the medication for about 5-6 years and then basically quit (I take other NSAIDs for the constant ache I have in my hips from the replacement surgeries).  You should talk to a Doctor before you jump into taking an NSAID (Ibuprofen is an NSAID and many Doctors do not like it because of the potential damage to the kidneys or liver).  As regards finding a podiatrist, it is not easy in Thailand. Or at least when I was looking a view years ago, there was only a podiatrist coming to BNH once a week from Singapore and he/she was only here for the morning. I gave it a miss.

Good luck. I hope this helped.

she's "found God" and gone all born-again.

Good for her. It's still an unjust world, but then as He preached the rain falls upon the just and the unjust, so the river will still rise (in your backyard). I still love the idea that there is a heaven and continue to believe (no matter how much $h👁️t I get here). 😇

  9. I find it laughable that so many of the 'financial' writers in the US keep hinting at a rate cut.  They and the rich f_ks that don't need one or are only marginally affected by inflation keep parroting this noise. Inflation is still high. Such sweet words like it's only 3.1 when you take the volatile food and energy cost out of it. And yet, those are the things that common people buy. Bunch of cr_p mouthed whiners.

The accident also served as a harsh lesson in safety and preparedness.

True what your follow on statement made, but one that is not learned or followed by most tourist who rent motorbikes in Thailand is that 'driving a motorbike in thailand is not like your home country'. It is 3-4 times more dangerous on a motorbike in Thailand than in any western or Australian/New Zealand country.

I wish the best for Lee, but on top of the insurance and promotion of it is the fact the motorcycles and car drivers are just plain crazy here. A foreigner on holiday should not be driving one.

Hum, rated your comment as confusing. ...must have been high/stoned.

Yes, I smoked some. Usually to little or zero effect, but then I didn't like the hot smoke. And then... one time in Adelaide I tried it with a neighbor and spent the night wrapped around my bedpost in a panic attack (or something). I was 'wired' and I've never touch any since.

It is especially bad for anyone under the age of 25 while their brain in still developing.

I am happy for you to enjoy your '<deleted>', but it's just like cigarettes. There's always a smell and a mess (ash, dust, bits of plant and settled smoke)..

    golf and bike riding

I would like for these two activities to become addictive, but I'm no longer a early morning person, which is when both of these activities should be engaged. Plus, I've now been 16 years on the artificial knee and 15 years on an artificial knee. I quit playing golf about 6 years ago because I needed to make them last.

I miss work. I was Supervisor and Superintendent in the petroleum business and was forced into retirement. We (wife and I) were not ready to retire (ie: caught me with my finances down) and son ready to finish high school and go to college.

    Retirement sucks.

  13. Aw, but I look for the video where they are mucking about in the sewer unplugging the lines or out on an offshore work boat catching loads in 6 ft seas (or just a riding out the high seas waiting until the sea is calm enough to work the deck).  Let's pull up some of the Mike Rowe shows of "Dirty Jobs" and see them lining up to do that.  (BTW, I saw just in the past couple of weeks where 3 or 4 farang ladies couldn't even get the handcuffs on a 'suspect' and he broke free).

Just had to initiate two returns, on the PC the "Returns" page is "not found". Just me or??

Returns initiated OK via the App, but I really like the big PC screen.

Must try the App in BlueStacks.

Not just you, Khun Crossy. I tried to find the method to return a couple of months ago. It was the first time I've ever tried (BTW it was on my computer).  I finally figured out the way to do it, but I was a day too late to return the item. (Was the path always there???)

    😂🤣

We are from South Africa and are getting married in Phuket , and have rented a villa with a private chef. Any ideas on where we can buy good steaks? Sirloin or Rib eye. Is Big C a good option? Open to all recommendations.

Definitely not Big C or Lotus. You've many good suggestions above. Have fun and Congratulations. I hope you both have a long and fulfilling marriage. Best Wishes.

Buy your steaks from El Gaucho in BK and have them sent to Phuket, can't go wrong.....

El Gaucho also has a restaurant in Phuket. I've never eaten there... I'm sure the quality is good, but preparation and cooking have a whole lot to do with the steak, too.

Plus: buying from a restaurant is going to be extremely expensive... Something that doesn't appear to be a problem (reading between the lines, obviously)
