Tourist Police Explain "Skateboard Incident" at Don Mueang airport
AlexCanada replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Kudos to the Airport Police. They showed great restraint. This guy should have been tasered. "The aircraft captain refused him due to his disruptive behavior." Captain made the right call. -
What are our options?
AlexCanada replied to alextrat1966's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Cambodia and Philippines no quarantine. VTL to Singapore and from Singapore VTL to Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other countries are an option. You are required to take special VTL flights which when I looked were much more expensive than a regular flight. Not sure about VTL status now since I haven't looked post Omicron. . -
My girlfriend is looking to buy a new house in Pattaya concentrating in the Khao Talo area. She is looking at new builds around the 2 or 3 million mark. From your experiences how much is a Thai girl able to get off the list price for a new house? Builders offering her 100,000 off without negotiating. I'm sure a bigger discount can be negotiated but how much?

Tourist visa and air ticket
AlexCanada replied to Tayida's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
eVisa application requires that you provide your flight information. -
Yes, around 10 times during business hours. No one ever answers and voicemail is full. I also emailed them over a week ago and no reply. I also called the local Thai Consulate who said they can't help me (I need to apply to Federal Thai Embassy) but confirmed this is the frustration she is hearing from many.

Submitted and paid for eVisa application on November 16. I am applying from within the country I reside so thought the longest was going to be 3 days. 3 weeks and counting for me. eVisa application has read "pending document check" for about 2 weeks now. No one has contacted me for incorrect documentation. Already cancelled my flight and hotel last week when I was supposed to depart for Thailand.

I am arriving after Dec. 1 but even if new Test and Go doesn't require 1 night hotel, transportation, and RT-PCR test I already prepaid my SHA Plus+ hotel 3500 baht deposit for these items and that is non-refundable. It says I pay the balance of the hotel amount when I arrive. Yes I know my mistake for booking non-refundable! I'm assuming there's no chance of me getting my money back even though it's possible none of those services are required.

I'm not saying you're not correct but according to some threads on the ASQ hotel forum it doesn't matter which day you book the hotel is "obligated" to provide your room for up to 24 hours until you get your test results back. Here is one of the threads in the ASQ hotel forum. There are others. I even offered the hotel to change the date to December 2 and I would book another night at the hotel for 2000 baht (same price as on hotels.ca) for December 3. They said there is no need I will not be charged a 2nd night until my test results are in. Hotel could have made extra money from me by booking a 2nd night but said I don't need to do that. My Thai fiancee called the hotel too. The hotel confirmed they have done this for many people (booking a hotel on the date you arrive in Thailand even if it's just after midnight) and there has never been an issue. They assured her there will someone at the airport to pick me up. The only thing I can think of if this is a hotel scam but I can't see them doing this. This is high end international hotel and they wouldn't ruin their reputation for something like this. I hope!

According to my ASQ hotel booking the answer is December 3. I even went back to question them why it's not December 2 and they said guests will check in to the hotel on the same date as on the plane ticket. Since my plane ticket says I arrive on December 3 that is the night of my hotel confirmation. This is a Sha Extra+ hotel on web.thailandsha.com/ , Also listed as a Test and Go hotel on thaiest.com and an ASQ hotel on asq.in.th Should I be concerned? Where is this ASQ FAQ? Can any of the mods confirm the hotel is correct?

Was searching on Agoda for Test and Go hotels last night. Nice hotels usually around $250-300 cdn including RT-PCR test, etc. Found a very nice Bangkok hotel under the Thailand Pass search. It said $72 cdn. What a deal I thought. Chose my room only to find there is a huge surcharge at the bottom of the page making the price well over $300 cdn (8000+ baht). Luckily I looked closely. I'm sure the odd person would have clicked Purchase on a non refundable room rate more than they may have thought.

Stuck with this question/eVisa
AlexCanada replied to Edward Abbott's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have a really silly question but just want to make sure. When applying for the eVisa it says "Please upload appropriate photograph taken within six month. ". I am assuming this can be a centered photo I take of myself today with a white background and does not have to be an official passport photo. -
I'll be arriving in BKK after midnight so likely won't arrive at the AQ hotel until 2 am. Can anyone refer me a hotel where I will only have to book 1 night hotel / vary early check in or late check out? If I arrive at the hotel on December 3 at 2 am, will I book a hotel for December 2 since it's before check in time or for December 3?

This used to be a big thing before but I haven't read about it lately. Do Farang still need to have 20k baht in cash on their person when entering Thailand? Read horror stories before that Thailand didn't care if you have 1 million baht in your bank account you were denied entry if you could not prove you had 20k baht in cash.

Entry after 1 Nov from an unlisted country
AlexCanada replied to Badger18's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I do not have a German or American passport. However, will I still be able to skip quarantine if I can show I was in the USA or Germany for over 14 days immediately prior to flying to Thailand?
