That is actually good news. The spreading is not exploding the same way as in northern countries. It is the hot&humid&UV lowering the R0 down.
Yeah right, and Nth Queensland with similar climate has more case, more like many are not reporting or seeking treatment, I would put money on the number being at least 10 times what is claimed.

Exempt? From what, being deported, where exactly would Thai hookers be deported to, I’m guessing the Vietnamese ones were deported to Vietnam, the Sudanese back to Sudan so can you enlighten us all where the Thai ones should be deported? <deleted>.

But maintenance is another story, its the not so educated that do the repair work
You mean like the not so educated that do perway work around the world? I’ve seen the train system in Bangkok and it’s world class, even looks like 70kg rail used which is a bit overkill for around a 10 tonne axles load, in Australia they use 60kg rail with 25 tonne axle loads with no problem. I’ve stood at crossings near Hua HIN and seen the existing passenger service roll by and and mechanically the worst I’ve seen is a couple of very minor flat spots, and the rolling stock are almost museum pieces. I like how many uneducated people here make uneducated comments.

The prices will soar ! And i would not trust anyone driving a high speed train here. I will wait a few years and count how many train wreaks first.
Why wouldn’t you trust them, it’s called Automatic Train Protection, it’s idiot proof and I would be surprised if any new rail systems built anywhere in the world wouldn’t have it.

And how many Thais will be able to afford this? Second many foreigners will just fly cheaper and faster. This will be the biggest boondoggle in Thailand's history.
Have you ever been to the Bangkok airports? First it’s an hour in a taxi to get to them, then it’s an hour at checkin, that’s coming up to 3 hours before you get off the ground if you take into account security screening and boarding times, then on arrival it’s 30 minutes to get off the plane and collect luggage. How is a 2hr30m train ride from the centre of BKK slower than that?

As to, "Requires a Work Permit" - In the case of your Tomatoes grown in Thailand, the operations (growing of the tomatoes) is occurring inside Thailand. If one merely "owns" the tomato operation, but is not involved in day-to-day operations, they do not need a work-permit. Otherwise, they do. But, a server operating in Brazil, modified by the brain of someone who happens to be in Thailand at some point in time, is a different situation.
Yes but the work is still being performed in Thailand, that's working in Thailand and u need a Work Visa to work in Thailand, maybe nobody has been charged or deported to date but that's not to say they can't be. The smart thing is never to admit to anything, it's not against any Visa rules to have rich parents who support your lifestyle or to have a business overseas run by family that provides you with an income.

When immigration has found entire offices full of farangs working remotely, no prosecutions occurred (including referring prosecutions to the labor-dept) for illegal working. After all, the money earned originates outside of Thailand, but is spent in Thailand.
Your last sentence to start with, the same can be said about Tomato growers who sell to another country, the money earned originates outside of Thailand and is spent in Thailand, they have to pay tax though don't they. The big thing that get started me is people say they live in Thailand and work online, that doesn't forgo their tax obligations in Thailand (assuming Thailand has income tax) so admitting you are working at all could be admitting to other crimes. Best just to say you have rich parents.

why would a TOURIST be in Thailand for longer than 6 months in a year, that would suggest they arent tourists.

The average working tourist spends more money on immigration fees and VAT (both can be seen as tax) then the average Thai employee pays in tax, plus the fact that those freelancers aren't stealing jobs from the locals. Thailand should welcome them with open arms. At least the ones from western countries.
They may not be stealing jobs but they ate working in Thailand and not paying income tax in Thailand. That in itself is a crime. I know if you did that in a Western country the respective Tax Offices would be hounding you.

I was doing my own thing online. I was not working in an establishment or taking anyone elses job. There are many people traveling the world doing this. Yeah maybe your not officially allowed to do this but there are people that stay in Thailand for years working online. I had around 7000 baht with me in cash and the rest was in my bank account. I can't see why anyone would want to carry 20000 baht with them in their pocket. It's not exactly small money. The Embassy clearly saw I had enough in my account when they gave me my visa which I'm also guessing immigration have access to. I have also read that people that did not have the money in cash were aloud to draw it out of an ATM. For the guy that asked I am from the UK, which they seemed rather surprised about.. doesn't take long to save up money from the UK to be able to travel Asia for a year. Below is the only paperwork they gave me. I will check the passport stamp in a bit. I have also had like 3 tourist visas and maybe 2 exemptions.
Doing your own thing online, you mean you were working while living in Thailand on tourist visas? Seems they had a ligitimate reason to deny entry, next time just take the 20,000 cash

There is a 2am curfew. Why do you think you ended up in a private room? I don't pick my nose and don't eat after 6pm.
A private room with a private bottle of scotch.., now what laws were broken again? I think you were eating it, come on, admit it.

Bill padding is the norm in Jomtien and Pattaya. Pay as you go they even try charging for 2. Ask prices first. No wonder the bars are empty.
Thats the norm in Thailand, buy 1 lady a drink and all of a sudden all her friends have drinks in their hands, I’m on to that scam so always check only one lady drink goes into the cup. This however was downright attempted theft.

Funny.
Can you you try writing that in English, and since when was it illegal to drink after 2am? I’m guessing you’re related to the rip off filth in Chang Mai if you think a gill of 18’000 Baht is “a bit high”, I can just imaging you picking you’re nose and having a feast while you wrote that.

How many people on here actually realise how badly they are and can be ripped off in Thailand (hence the title).
Ive been going to Thailand a few times a year over the last 10 years and always wondered why I can drink Johnny Walker Red Label and Coke (Led Coke) all nigh and not get drunk. A perfect example occurred in Pattaya a few years back at a popular Walking Street night club when I had 7 glasses while my girlfriend had 1 bottle of beer over 2 hours (or less). We got a taxi home and I breath tested myself with my new breath tester and I was 0.00 BAC while my girlfriend was 0.04 BAC.
I have now finally found out why, in Australia the standard “shot” of spirits is 30ml, in the US I believe it is higher, however in Thailand it’s 15ml (a half shot) and they only use a full shot for Thai Whiskey. So the other night I ordered a Double Shot at just a regular beer bar and got what is a standard 30ml shot in Australia and was charged the equivilant of over AUD$13, twice the price I would have paid back home at a pub and still $3 more than if I bought it at an up market night club.
Now the BIGGEST ACT OF BASTARDRY I have ever witnessed and the biggest ripoff ever seen occurred in Chang Mai a little over a week ago, I was travelling by bike with 2 mates and my girlfriend around Thailand and stopped into Chang Mai for the night, my girlfriend stayed at the hotel and I went out drinking with some mates. After the bars closed around 2 my mates wanjted more and to get a couple of ladies so I tagged along, the Tuk Tuk Driver said he knew where to get some so more drinks and girls so we let him take the lead. We ended up in a Karaoke Club, the ones where you get a private room to have a sing, drink and some food. 2 girls joined us as I said I’m not interested I have one waiting in my hotel.
One mate ordered a bottle of Top Shelf Scotch Whiskey and paid for it up front and we started drinking it, his plan was to take the bottle with him after a couple of drinks and after negotiating a price with the ladies. After about 20 minutes and after a couple of drinks and a couple of plates of food for the ladies he says to me the girls were saying they can’t leave until 4am, it was around 3am. He says he’s not going to wait around until then and asked for the bill to leave, this is when the ripoff started, the bill comes and it’s over 18,000 Baht , yes that’s right, 18,000 Baht for 2 songs, 3-4 plates of food, a few mixes for the whiskey and the girls to sit with them. Of course I refused to pay it, so did my mates. After about 30 minutes and suggestions from me that we each just pay 1000 Baht (3000 all up) my mate agreed to pay 5000, 2000 for each of my mates and 1000 from me to avoid what could have become an ugly confrontation, sure there we 3 of us but you don’t know how many Thai guys are waiting outside. So lesson learned about Chang Mai, avoid the dump, I just wish I had done 3 key things.
1. Marked the location of the bar using google maps for future reference. 2. Had the phone number of the Tourist Police stored in my phone.
3. Had taken a photo of the bill.
Anyone in Chang Mai know the bars name leave me a message.

Servicing an omega is expensive, mostly because of the omega parts required........with the seikos, the movements are simple, but legendary.
there are many instances if one looks on you tube of these things running for years and years with no service....their SKX divers watch is one example, it’s an icon and most watch collectors know the model well. The worlds best “ beater “ they say.....seiko also make more quality movements to satisfy connoisseurs of the game....their grand seikos are right up there with hi beat movements....seriously look at what they have to offer....it’s an exceptional range....110 years of horological firsts and history, seiko are one of the best brands in the world for watch’s.
they have a different philosophy to the Geneva crowd who target the brand conscious big spenders who buy for their own prestige.
nobody is going to roll you for your seiko, but they can spot a roller a mile away......the seikos would prove to be more reliable, just as well built and far greater value than most brands....
There are no parts required when servicing a Automatic Watch, apart from O-Rings and seals, the watchmaker disassembles the movement and cleans it, reassembles and applies oil and replaces rubber O-rings. Seiko is a low end watch, they make good Quartz watches which is their speciality but I wouldn’t bother getting an Automatic Seiko. Seiko watches are the higher end of the Pulsar, Casio etc. range, all made by the same company. They also won’t run for years and years without servicing, rubber seals don’t last years and years and the oil used to lubricate the movement loses its effectiveness. Sure you can wait 20 years between services, you can do that with any automatic but that’s like driving 100,000km in a car between services, not a smart idea.

Have a look at seiko, and buy it online from lazada....
hugely respected brand....and the most choice in styles and sizes.
some of these automatic watch’s can last 20 years without a service.
and the top end ones are just that, comparable to the best of the Swiss.
Automatics need servicing every 4-5 years depending on condition, wait 20 years and it would be beyond repaid and certainly would no longer be water resistant either. Services aren’t cheap either, AUD$750 for my Seamaster at Omegabut cheaper at a reputable watchmaker with no Omega connections.

Bell & Ross the Turn Coordinator is a unique sought after watch and will certainly be noticed.
