  1. I'm pretty sure he will not be covered if he does have travel insurance. They are likely to look at this and come to the conclusion that his activity which led to this was irresponsible, which is normally the case for most policies. They don't cover extreme sports or anything with a high level of danger unless it's pre-arranged which I highly doubt was the case So as well as unfortunately suffering life changing injuries he is also likely to be liable for massive medical bills.
  2. I agree with all of the comments and I too have been counting the days for Thailand to open. I'm 42 years old and usually spend a number of months in the provinces, mainly Isaan, not big into the party scene. During the pandemic I jumped through a number of hoops to visit other countries and I find PCR test's stressful because of the what if's and I certainly don't want to go back down that road again, with 2 it is complete overkill as well as no mention of what happens if you test positive on arrival along with costs. If you have ever had to deal with the tyrants at the border in the past, then the possibility of not satisfying all of the requirements because of some policy wording in your travel insurance or test results seems highly likely.. There is also a mention of a confirmed hotel booking for your stay, so do I need to book the same hotel for a number of months even though I would have zero intention of staying in a hotel? Finally this seems to put side trips to Laos and Cambodia completely out of the question even though I understand they are not open yet, all in all, not an attractive option at the moment and zero reason to go there.
