Something I do not see written about, yet to my mind is a serious issue, and that is the retired people on annual extensions to stay using the monthly income method. Surely, with a sum of about 65,000 per month coming in regularly to meet visa requirements, the taxman will want to get his grubby paws on some of it.

    About 35% of it.

So will Immigration accept the monthly transfer amount as before or after the tax deduction ?

If after, then the 65K would need to be more like 100K

How would they find out and track you down? That’s what I wonder. Are they motivated to become the FBI/IRS of Thailand? Do they have the resources to wage tax war against non complying low income expats? Or will it be a matter of so long as you don’t attract attention you stay under the radar?

Well not by using any information they pile up from 90 day reports.

They have no idea how to contact you if they needed to

I plan to live here permanently. I heard there are payment tiers in the Thai hospitals. The lowest and the most expensive tier is for those on a tourist visa. Did I get that right?

Public hospitals charge mainly the same for everyone although, as you have found, waiting times can be considerably onerous.

Private hospitals certainly have a tiered pricing system, Thai or non-Thai.

And you will be seen quickly.

Whether you are on a 30-day exemption or a 1 year retirement extension it makes no difference, you will be charged the (much) higher rate.

Nissan dealership in Pattaya south on Sukhumvit is closed.

Wife took Almira to B-quick at Big C south for an oil change and got sold a set of unneeded swing arms.

Not to costly, but i hope the next Thai wife in next life is a bit more of a critical thinker regarding auto maintenance.

Nissan have also shut the dealership at Laem Chabang.

Nearest option is on Sukhumvit between Naklua and the 36 roundabout. Tiny place with very limited parking available, went in to ask about servicing and all 3 available staff had no idea.

B-Quik will be getting a lot more Nissan customers.

You can bet your Bottom Dollar that before 2024 is out there will have been a complete reversal and all will be forgotten as in a bad dream

Hopefully sooner rather than later as I won't be bringing any of my pension over until the whole thing is finally clarified.

Brought over a year's worth in December so can sit it out

I am exempt form UK tax as my pensions are below the taxable level. So I would have no such proof of tax paid as I haven't paid any. That'll confuse them, because all farangs are rich so I must have paid tax.

So you would have to pay tax on all of your pension when it is sent here

Your drivers class is acceptable as it has all the nessacery information, including your passport number

But not your current visa status.

Hotel staff usually go straight for your latest stamp hoping to find you on overstay.

500 baht for grassing you up

  8. Has the UK Embassy or Consulate arranged a meeting with Thai tax authorities to obtain some clarification regarding the new tax legislation ?

It would be appreciated as we are currently in limbo.

Most relevant would be regarding pensions and the double tax agreement.

    Does this exist ??

I would guess that well over half of expats living in Thailand have no clue or any credible information regarding this, which could become a major problem in January.

    Thank You
