  1. I think that you guys are being way too cynical... Instead of "You think too mutt"..it's obviously "You grow too mutt..."????
  2. Well done! Stay fit, stay well and all the best to you! (My wife intends to fly back in April if all is open)
  3. How does the saying go? "When one is young the days go fast but the years go slowly.. When one is old the days go slowly but the years fly past.." Good ol' Russ,he's doing okay.
  4. I am inclined to agree with you.Talk radio is huge in Australia..generally compered by right wing celebrities with impressive ratings. It is probably the true "forum" of the nation to the despair of anyone with half a brain.
  5. sophism /ˈsɒfɪz(ə)m/ Learn to pronounce noun a clever but false argument, especially one used deliberately to deceive.
  6. Disengenous casuistry-usually called "sophism" by the Greeks-who obviously knew a thing or two when it came to Ivermectin, bleach and the Orange Pumpkin.
  7. I think that whatever happened the Swiss chap should plan to put a continent or two between himself and Thailand once the dust settles....if it settles.
  8. Yes....sadly one has to conclude that Rupert Murdoch is probably the most powerful man on the planet. It is not the first time that media barons have wielded excessive power..one thinks of Hearst,Northcliffe,Beaverbrook et al in their day but not right across the entire media board on such a grand scale. Of Alfred Harmsworth,Lord Northcliffe it has been said,"presenting stories as entertainment and by blurring the difference between news and views, Northcliffe titillated, if he did not debouch, the public mind; he polluted, if he did not poison, the wells of knowledge.[36] Piers Brendon,Wikipedia. Sound familiar?
  9. It certainly is the full package isn't it? Bought to us courtesy of Rupert....????
  10. Whilst the thread is mainly concentrating (quite rightly) on the exceedingly toxic 'Fox News'..may I put in a plug for it's Antipodean Murdoch stablemate 'Sky News' that plays the same role in Australia along with it's talkback radio affiliates?Australia is very badly served by its servile right wing media.
  11. Thanks mate! To be honest I really don't go anywhere nowadays anyway, but it certainly effects my wife's business and those of her friends. Apparently October 11th is "Liberation Day" but I will believe it when I see it????
  12. Well...my wife informs me that there are 23 new covid cases in the village-which is only one bridge crossing away from Ubon. It's a poor village and people live together cheek by jowl... ...and at the other end of the SE Asian archipelago it looks like we are going back into lock-down again at midnight. ..
  13. My goodness-that is what he was trying to swim across..
  14. My sympathy to your friends..the Mun can be a mighty tempestuous river when she is in spate...
  15. Hi Owl, My wife informs me that Ubon is getting set to flood-plenty of rain upriver..have things improved in your neck of the woods?
  16. .and then followed it up with "Sweet land of liberty.." which shows that they grasp the concept of irony as well.
  17. On foreign shores.. My Thai wife:Pfizer x 2 Myself:Astra Zeneca x 1-next jab due in November.
  18. I must correct you there-Xylophone is certainly not a troll and has made many fine posts on this forum. His points, vis a vis, your posts are certainly worth considering.
  19. Ha ha-love the term. I can just imagine this scene.. The IO eyeing the aging Expat up and down, noting the wife covered in gold, the Fortuner, the four Isaan kids.... and saying "You have missed your 90 day report..you aintn't nothin' but a horndog!"
  20. I guess that the men will always follow the availability of the women/sexual partners and Thailand has always done rather well with that strategy.Whether it remains the same post-Covid is anyone's guess but I assume that after a slow start all the escapees from their home countries will be rarin' to go. What happens to them after that only time (and ThaiVisa) will tell...????
  21. Well..my goodness..there are some beautiful old trees there... The photos remind me of Rudyard Kipling's 'Puck of Pook's Hill'.
  22. I would imagine so.... They say that Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood would carry acorns about with him and toss them into handy hedgerows as he was concerned at the loss of the oak forests due to over usage. I think the 'Victory' used 3,600 trees...
