  1. It begs the question, just what is considered a firearm in Thailand? A rifle, a handgun, a shotgun, and such, ok. Now here we are seeing charges brought for possession of a blank gun. What about a starters pistol? Then there are pellet guns, of all sorts, followed by air soft guns and paintball guns. Songkran brings out all kinds of water guns across the country. Just where does Thailand have that line drawn?
  2. The Thai escalator / meat grinder is the least of my worries here. Simply walking on many Thai footpaths is a hazard in itself. While your eyes are focused down to avoid holes, curbs, and many unnecessary obstructions to step over, you bash your head on low hanging poles, signs, sharp bolts sticking out of walls, and loose wires. Some of them powered up, ready to fry you to a crisp.
  3. A blind man walking by turned and said, "Good Morning Ladies"
  4. The problem is likely not Thailand, but in China, and not likely to change. Unfortunately, Thailand has put all their eggs in the Chinese basket. Here's a good take on what is going on over there by Peter Zeihan:
  5. Perhaps two swallows carried them together, on a line...
  6. As grisly as it was dumb. He might as well have dropped the bag off at the police station instead of the dump. Everyone here knows that their Thai garbage is picked over many times for recyclables, and anything of value by scavengers before being burned. Well, at least he'll have the rest of his life to think about it cooking inside a sweltering Thai prison.
  7. Had something like this too. Go commando! Toss the underwear and socks for maximum ventilation and give the boys the freedom of movement they deserve. Wear one layer of oversized loose cotton shorts, change twice daily, and wash everything frequently with a bit of bleach (Haiter). Alternate the creams suggested above daily, antifungal, then next day antibacterial. Should keep it under control.
  8. Well, I do leave it on all day, but catch far more at night, as it can be seen much more in the dark, throughout the rooms. I think the bulb lasts longer if you don't turn it on and off all the time as well. You get an extra bulb with the unit as well. The specific wavelength that works cannot come from an LED bulb, so ignore cheaper LED models. You must use this one. Remember, it attracts mosquitos, so you must put it away from you, otherwise the mossies will be drawn towards the light, then veer over to you for a meal instead. I have never seen anything so effective on mossies as this unit. I have 3 throughout the house in different locations.

  10. I wish. That was one day. Tossed the dried buggers out. They seem to like the bathroom , hence thats where I put the trap. Here is 3 days worth, from today:
  11. Yes, different bulb with not the same wavelengths for mosquitoes, but good for most other bugs outside. Zappers make it hard to sleep at night. This one is quiet, and works the best on mosquitoes.
  12. I use these mosquito traps, about 1000 baht, inside the house. Can order it online from a retailer that starts with ‘L’. Special bulb, not an LED, has a fan that sucks them into the trap where they dry out. Extremely effective.
  13. Many walls rely on the strength of the paint to hold them together.
  14. Hmmm... All of my banks try to exercise the same kind of control over my money as well.
  15. Fortunately, Pattaya sewers have a built in safety feature. They are designed to flow backwards and flood the roads during storms to eject quality tourists living in the pipes.
  16. U turns are deadly, and big trucks just pull right out in front of you as size has right of way. Motorists at full speed must often emergency brake to avoid a collision. When 2 trucks are involved, this is often the result. Thailand’s extensive and over use of U turns must be cut back, and return to intersections.
  17. I can't imagine having an affair without at least partially disrobing. Might as well go for the 'Full Monty' straight off.
  18. Could have been worse. China claims sovereignty in this part of the world for most waters, and he might have been taken away for spying.
  19. Unfortunately, there are many gullible folks out there. I just hope these countless African scams do not cause any more delay to receive my millions from the Nigerian Prince. It has been a while now since I sent them that huge amount of cash to prepay the transfer fees.
  20. It is a dry hot tinderbox out there, after 2 relatively wet years of fuel buildup, in Thailand and neighbouring countries. The smoke accumulates up in the northern bowl with stagnant winds, and is a complex problem to solve. Seasonal land burning adds to the problem, but is not all to blame. Thailand bears so many hidden costs from it, in terms of health, the economy, and tourism. It is the poor and the children that can't escape the smoke by staying in filtered homes, and must work in the outside air who suffer the most.
  21. The secret Russian attempt to annex the land between itself and Phuket is now exposed.
