    You are not correct.

"3. Requirements for passport holders of People's Republic of China

Applicants should provide proof of residence, such as Cambodian visas, Cambodian work permit, proof of long-term accommodation, work contract, school/university confirmation of enrolment, immigration stamps showing applicant has been in Cambodia for the majority of the past 6 months and plans to return to Cambodia after leaving Thailand. Application consideration will take at least 3 working days:

3.2 For those intending to stay in Thailand for longer than 90 days (taking up employment, school/university students, Thai family)

All applications (regardless of residency) will be subject to approval from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, which takes at least one month."

It was just a point of thought. Not something over-dramatic such as Ph.D. dissertation requiring a scientifically clinical "no, you are not correct". If the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh imposes such requirements, then such is the rule and my suggestion should be disregarded. I neither implied nor asserted that I'm correct.

  2. I use Binance and Wirex. I have their Visa cards. I simply top up with USDT and it's shop til you drop. Literally til you drop because Wirex's card has a spend limit of 20k SGD (520k THB) per day. And the Binance card has a spend limit of 8700 EUR per day. Used it at IconSiam's Apple store and at some of Central Embassy's high end shops. Never declined. Was just asked if I wanted Tingapo dolla or baht mister? Euro or baht mister? Never given a choice of bitcoin or baht mister? Hopefully that day will come.

For those using these services do you feel comfortable having strangers see your banking info?

I use mail boxes etc (MBE) in Australia to forward letters from my bank, sometimes even renewed credit cards and letters with PIN numbers from my bank in Germany. Totally reliable and not one negative issue in my 11 years with MBE. I recall forgetting my credit card PIN last year and requested a new one (the bank sends them via snail mail). I didn't bother with having it forwarded to me so I emailed MBE a written authorization to open the letter, scan it and email it to me. Within minutes I had my PIN and they also sent a pic of the letter shredded. Convenient and some might think it's not safe but the physical card's with me.

Any UK or EU 'branches' not charging ?

My German bank (DKB) stopped refunding foreign ATM fees. They absorb their own fees if the account is credited with a minimum of EUR 700 monthly. My Miles & More card also charges fees.

    Fees fees fees. Endless fees.

The fact that I have a large amount of cash available to me is because my mortgage is an "Offset" mortgage, whereby any money you have in your account is offset against what you owe on the house, so if I were to take £20,000 & put it into my "Real" bank account to show for a visa, I'm basically borrowing £20,000 against my mortgage (and will need to pay mortgage interest on it).

Sounds like a scary but convenient strategy. Never had a mortgage so I can't really imagine how borrowing against an already existing loan works apart from the fact that, yes, mortgage interest and repayments are bound to increase.

Embassies want to see a strong incentive to return to the visa applicant's home country. Solid finances are a plus, if in her name, as well as any supporting documents and assurances you can provide to strengthen the contention of an existing relationship and her intention to abide by the visa's conditions.

This just reminds me of my Cambodian friend's experience. He works for Aeon in Phnom Penh and had about USD 4k in his bank account when he applied. That and a letter from his employer. He applied at the French embassy and was granted a Schengen visa for 30 days. Profile: single, early 30s, earns $600/month, prior travel to Singapore and Bangkok, no supporting documents from anyone in Europe. He went to Paris and is back in Phnom Penh now.

Then again, I know a phone shop owner who was rejected despite having far more assets.

Actually, embossed/raised numbers are the "ancient" way of doing things. My US card issuers started going to the flat style with the number printed on the back a few years ago, and as of late last year all of my US credit and debit cards have been replaced by non-embossed versions - it hasn't affected their acceptability at all.

I stand corrected then. Yes I just noticed my German debit cards are now "numberless and nameless" on the front of the card. Everything is now printed on the back of the card.

  7. In the event of his account going into default, you will be hounded, harassed and bullied by debt collectors night and day. They might take possession of your property until you can prove you have nothing to do with the cardholder's unpaid debts, a costly (because of lawyers) and difficult (because of your address being linked to the arrears) process. And when the juice collector asks neighbors about your whereabouts or where you work, you will be the talk of the town.

  8. I have the Wirex and Binance cards. No, they will not send the cards to Thailand. They will send to the address shown on the proof of address requested during KYC verification and they are very strict with adhering to their compliance rules. The cards were sent to my address in Germany. A friend then couriered the letters to me.
