  1. So they are deliberately deceiving the tourists coming to Thailand... perhaps the international community needs to sue it's tourism industry who are knowingly sending people to a hazardous environment..
  2. Thanks for raising this discussion Mike. I had a trifocal lens fitted back in the UK last year after having previously having retinal surgery in Sriphat. I am surprised that you are getting advised that the lens replacement won't correct your vision. Even a monolens is normally made specifically for your eye based on measurements taken by the specialist. Surely they aren't saying that they are just going to fit any generic lens in such an opportunity to sort out your vision. After having had a bad experience with Sriphat myself of going through unnecessary retinal surgery I suggest that you get a second opinion. I was so untrusting of the Thai system I returned to the UK for my cataract surgery.
  3. Be careful, they don't extend the validity any more so you only get 10 years from the start of the new passport. I would plan carefully having lost nearly 1 year recently..
  4. Ignore my last post.. the online TM30 system now has a print option. It looks very official so I assume that it will be accepted when renewing your visa..
  5. The TM30 is now online however you can't print a document from the online system. You have to produce a printed TM30 for the visa extension and immigration at CM appear happy to use your old copy. i.e. don't throw the old printed TM30 away...
  6. So you don't value the higher quality video or higher quality music streaming than the free option? It's a veritable bargain given the price in Thailand..
  7. The benefits of premium membership far outweigh the hassles of ad blocking. You get access to the special 1080p resolution, a music subscription and no ads. I use the family subscription for 299 baht and my family back in the UK can also use it. Everyone has dumped their Spotify subscriptions so it's a real bargain for us.
  8. At least the arsonists can't start up yet with all this rain in the north. A blessing..
  9. He'd better get rid of the senates power to steal an election then... oh I forgot, that's how he managed to steal the top spot...
  10. I wasn't impressed when they started the water running down from the roof. Not exactly hygienic with open food getting potential water droplets mixed in..
  11. I've given up with IPTV providers and the free websites. TrueID is only 400 baht per month and it's reliable with no buffering. Sideload the TrueID application on your Android TV and it's controllable with a Bluetooth mouse..
  12. You are better off with YouTube premium in Thailand, the same audio quality as Spotify (YouTube music) plus you can watch YouTube without the annoying ads...
  13. I have found Tivimate to have the best interface. A very slick app
  14. It's all a smokescreen, he's going nowhere...
  15. Go now, I had to get another bank statement as they didn't accept my original one. It took another week as it's generated in Bangkok. You need more buffer time in case of issues...
  16. Tourism is probably the only fix. If the tourists wised up then they wouldn't be visiting Chiang Mai (and Thailand) if their health was at risk. The travel agents responsible for sending them over should be sued, that would send a strong message to TAT if tourism dried up..
  17. Test drives are a joke in Thailand. They usually only let you drive a couple of junctions and U-turn back to the dealer. Nothing like the western world... As other posters say, it's best to rent out a car to test it out..
  18. Google Translate is safe, free and can do what you want with a bit of faffing...
  19. The biggest risk here is getting 'diagnosed' for unnecessary surgical treatment. I was falsely diagnosed with a detached retina. Months later having failed retinal surgery I am back in the UK getting things resolved with my vision compromised. The surgeon diagnosed both eyes however I refused the second eye and on my return the UK eye hospital concluded that I do not require surgery! I most likely didn't require retinal surgery in the first eye. My eyesight has been compromised due to a greedy, reckless Thai medical 'professional'. The medical profession are driven by money here and not ethics....
  20. Compared to the Nissan Leaf at 2 million it is a veritable bargain. The Nissan has passive battery cooling and is unsuitable for a hot climate. Most current EVs have superior battery thermal management including the Good cat ..
  21. Just found it, apparently the Good Cat has an EV subsidy in China. It's about time the Thai government pulled it's finger out and enabled the promised EV subsidies over here...
  22. The price seems comparable to the expected UK price, I couldn't find the price in China. GWM have poached one of Porches guys hence you can see the likeness to the German brand from the front. Tesla Bjorn is big on YouTube
  23. So, has anyone bought an ORA Good cat here yet? These look way better than the MG EVZS and have an amazing range of 500km for the Ultra model. https://www.gwm.co.th/en/ora-good-cat/ Tesla Bjorn is currently back in Chiang Mai and says he will test one shortly...
