  1. Many thanks for the good information. I will follow up and visit them; cheers and best wishes.
  2. Our Isuzu SUV is 8 years old with only 115,000 km on the clock. It has a few markings/scratches/chipped duco on it as fair wear and tear. That bothers my wife, and I tell her they are incidents that do not give rise to an insurance claim. Can anyone point me to a service provider in the Pattaya area that does motor vehicle body touch-ups, chipped duco touch-ups and makeovers of similar "fair wear and tear" markings? The vehicle will no longer be "broken," and a happy wife means a happy life. Cheers and thanks.
  3. Spot on. For many years, Australian federal law is that under age sex in another country by an Australian is a crime punishable as if it had happened in Australia. I believe that law has been very effective in tackling the issue of "Australian sex tourists going to South East Asia, Africa and other locations".
  4. Hearsay only, but I have heard that claiming there are ghosts/demons in the premises are acceptable grounds to terminate a residential lease without penalty in Thailand. Could be worth a shot, especially if you look terrified when meeting with the landlord/agent and you describe your experiences and the sounds you are hearing. You initiate the meeting as the demons/ghosts are most upsetting and you got to get away from them!!
  5. very true. I have used AldiMobile for many years. Great customer support, great coverage in Aus (they use the Telstra network) and best value. I have an AldiMobile SIM for my OZ mobile, and online I recharge it with a series of call/data/text 30 day packages when I am in OZ. I also have a separate data only SIM that sits in my laptop when I am in Aus.
  6. Good day, several years ago, I have a very similar problem with CommBank and accessing online banking from outside of Australia. The branch and my Relationship Manager wanted me to use the NetBank App but at that time the SMS message for two factor authentication (2FA) for some reason would only work within Australia (not to an overseas phone number). We solved the problem by using the CommBank dongle technology and that does work here in Thailand, Philippines, and Canada. Most of the time when I login from overseas, I have to give it a second shot at logging in, and it always works on that second time. As the CommBank is trying to phase out the dongle technology, the bad news is that you may have to be physically present in Australia for the CommBank to provide you with a dongle - in my case it took about 10 days for the dongle to come through to a branch in Brisbane and to then to activate it. Good luck in getting a dongle without being physically present at a branch in Australia. Cheers and best wishes.
  7. In the processes for adoption of my spouse's Thai son, I had to obtain a criminal history check from Australia as my country of nationality. Does the same apply for the Thailand Elite visa application???
  8. Fully agree, my 7 nights 8 days in Grand Belle Hotel Pattaya from 10-17 January 2022 when fully vaxxed and PCR negative on leaving Canada and on arrival here was not a voluntary holiday of my choice. Total bullsh*t to say quarantine had been dropped.
  9. I received my Thailand Pass earlier this week, within 80 minutes of completing the online application lodgement process. This was a great relief as the application acknowledgement quoted 3-7 working days as a turn around time and I was booked for a flight to BKK (Vancouver via Seoul to Bangkok) in 3 working days time. My AQ quarantine is at Pattaya in a SHA++ hotel for 7 nights and all is confirmed including negative PCR test result. The AQ locations are not limited to BKK. My first preference was the Phuket sandbox but that fell over because to transit through Singapore (SIN), Singapore Govt requires that you must arrive and depart from in transit at SIN on Singapore AIrline flights - my proposed inward flight from Canada was not on Singapore Airlines (protective trade barriers are alive and well!!). Cheers for now and have fun.
  10. Do not send him here - Pattaya has enough issues with the economy down the toilet for now nearly two years.
  11. Thank you Doctor Jack for a good and accurate summary relating to the OP. This year, my situation is a quite different for the annual renewal of my extension of stay on the " O (Retirement)" Visa issued in 2014. My current "Non-Imm O (Retirement)" Visa Extension of Stay expires on 25 July 2022. Subject to travel restrictions being eased etc, I will be visiting extended family in 2022. If God wills it, I expect to depart Thailand for Australia in late February, with June-July as time in Europe/UK and then in Canada for August/Sept with me back home in Thailand during October 2022. I will be absent from Thailand from March to October with the Extension of Stay due for renewal on 25 July 2022 at Jomtien. What are the options and processes involved, for example:- - I doubt it, but can I renew at Jomtien 5 months early before I leave in Feb 2022? - Is it possible to do an extension of stay through a Thai Embassy or Consulate in the UK or Europe in June, July? - Can I return to Thailand in October on a single entry or Visa on arrival, and then go to Jomtien Immigration and patch in a 12 month extension of stay on my "O (Retirement)" Visa originally issued in 2014? I see Thailand as my home and my wife and I were married in 2014. I have 14-year-old stepson (her birth son). I have always met the financial requirements by having over 800K THB sitting in a designated savings account. Many thanks for your wisdom, contributions and thoughts.
  12. Good day, Good People, We have a 5 year old female speyed (cut) Siberian Husky who is well overweight and is very set in her ways in her simple very secure life. She is my constant companion and shadow, and has been for all of her life. Her name is MoneyDog. In September I fly to Australia and will be away until April/May 2022 with my return date dependent on my daughter in Australia who has advanced cancer. I also have overdue business matters requiring attention plus medical maintenance checks that have not been done since my return from Australia in February 2020. All subsequent visits to Australia have been cancelled with borders closed in both directions. My wife of 7 years and her 14 year old son have absolutely no interest in having any responsibility for the care and maintenance of effectively my dog. In summary, my dog has had a great life of 5.5 years with, walks every day, good feeds every day plus reciprocal very close companionship. One option is to try and put her into an animal shelter, and literally turn my back on her and her future well-being - given the totally overloaded and under resourced situation with animal shelters here in Thailand. I am not prepared to do that. My strongly preferred option is an appointment with a Vet for my dog to be put to sleep by the Vet, and then I take her with me, and bury her with dignity, along with her favourite toys and trinkets. The Vet that we have been to all her life is Buddhist and absolutely will not put a dog to sleep (even if badly injured or very sick and in pain) because of the bad karma that Buddhists believe will be caused for them by killing a living being. I have tried 4 other animal hospitals here in Pattaya and none of them will provide the appropriate service. While I respect their beliefs and decisions, I struggle with the resulting consequences for the dogs concerned. My dog has had an absolutely great life and I want her to go out on a high note - all she will know is that she is having an injection. My question to the forum is, could someone please share with me the contact details of a vet or animal hospital (preferably in the Pattaya area but I can travel) that would be prepared to euthanise a dog at their premises, and then I take her away and bury her. One person said there is a non-Buddhist Vet of Chinese origin at Jomtien who does do the requested service. They did not know the contact details, and I was not able to locate any such details when searching on Google. When MoneyDog is put to sleep, I will know that she is all okay, and exactly where she is having a big sleep at one of our favourite bushland areas. I would never have that peace of mind if she went to an animal shelter or direct to some person or family as part of re-homing her. She does have health issues with being 25-30% overweight and what seemed like a chronic ear infection in both ears that the Vet has not been successful in eradicating. I value all contributions and anything that will help put me in touch with an appropriate Vet or animal hospital. Thank you very much for your attention and response.
  13. SinoVac is not approved in the Australian system. Australia has approved AZ, Pfizer and Moderna.
  14. In the next few years, China will force the issue of Taiwan (by invasion and forced re-unification as one country with ongoing strong resistance from the Taiwanise people. I do not believe USA will go to all out war with China over Taiwan - huffing and puffing but not military warfare - China will retain Taiwan as a result. In the next 10 years, I see Thailand increasingly coming under more influence of and submission to Chinese directives and pressures. Thai royalty will be left in place along with a puppet government or junta doing the bidding of their Chinese masters in areas of foreign policy and economic policy as Thailand becomes a full local satellite of China as a rising power. .
  15. I did my annual Extension of Stay and Multiple Re-Entry Permit processes on Thursday & Friday a week ago at Jomtien. Minimal queuing required, fast turn around. I go there mid afternoon and it is always much quieter than their morning sessions. I find Jomtien to be good operators and quite efficient within a very paper based system.
  16. As a matter of interest, you lived most of your life in Australia and seem to regard Australia as your home base, what made you decide against becoming an Australian citizen and having the full benefits of citizenship?
