No mate it wasn't in Thailand. I did think after I posted that life expectancy might be lower here.

Sorry to hear that. 12 is not old for a cat. I had two back in the day. The male was 18 and the female 21 when they died.

Around the average so far then. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40036190 "A total of 131 deaths were caused by heatstroke between 2019 and 2023, or more than 26 per year, according to Public Health Ministry data. Most of the victims were senior citizens and those in the working population." https://www.thailand.go.th/issue-focus-detail/009_154 "The Department of Medical Services has reported that, between March and May 2015-2019, an average of 43 people per year died because of hot weather." 30 Deaths from Heatwaves in Thailand Thailand hasn't had a heatwave let alone more than one this year. It's very hot everyday that's for sure and as shown above people will die from heatstroke in this weather but it's not a heatwave/heatwaves. "Increased temperatures in the country have led to health problems linked to intense heat." Temperatures have not increased and are in the normal range of highs for this time of year. The problem is the temperatures are staying at the high end of the scale and there's no respite. Bloody hot month but not a heatwave.

House Speaker Advocates for Referendum Before Charter Change Vote
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agree. Just saying what should happen. Yes the constitution is not a constitution for the people. It's a constitution to maintain the power of the ruling elite and the military and until something changes drastically will remain as such and Thailand will never advance toward a true representative democracy. -
House Speaker Advocates for Referendum Before Charter Change Vote

The Junta's constitution needs to be completely binned and an entirely new constitution drafted and debated in parliament. Then referundums can be held on drafts. -

I've suffered from sinusitis on and off my entire life. I found pseudoephedrine very effective. -
Health Ministry approves medical use of opium and magic mushrooms

There are headline readers, there are headline and sub-headline readers and then there's readers that read the entire article. The 1st two have no right to comment on the article as it can only be an illinformed comment. Many examples of this on this thread. -

Heatwave Alert: Thailand Expects 43C Weather and Severe Summer Storms
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Again and again we see heatwave. It's not. What it is is an extended period of hot weather with maximums and minimums being in the normal range for April. If I start seeing several days in a row of 43, 44, 45°C+ then I will agree with the term heatwave being used as these would be unusally high temperatures for April and therefore would fall within the definition of heatwave. As it is this is not the case. It's just very hot everyday. This is what make this year different to previous. No break from the heat but not a heatwave. -

Govt brushes off central bank’s call for review of digital wallet scheme
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I disagree. People will take the money BUT they will not forget the what traitorous PTP has done. PTP will be severly punished for getting into bed with the military elite. Remember the military elite is the enemy of the PTP support base. -
PEA advises on cost-effective air conditioners amid Thai heat
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This doesn't make sense. If it's 34°C or 40°C outside it would still be 27°C in a room cooled to 27°C. -
Govt brushes off central bank’s call for review of digital wallet scheme
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The thing is they promised the money with absolutely no idea where it would come from. You say "If no pay they can forget the next election" remember this populist BS from PTP was announced as an election platform an election they failed to win. Pay or not the results of the next election will be like the last only the 3rd iteration of FFP will win by a larger margin. -

When I saw the healine I immidiately thought Yakuza. Yakuza, Triads, Russian mafia etc are I guess the 'quality' tourists Thailand wants. -
Bangkok & Chiang Mai Ranked among Top Asian Cities for Expats in 2024
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Interesting isn't it how if we post anything that needs sourcing without sourcing said post it's immidiately deleted but this unsourced rubbish is ok. This is pure nonsense based in no way in reality and completely unsourced. It's nothing but a waste of space. This AI article must be talking about a different Bangkok and Thailand to the one we know. -
Thailand Takes Action on Refugee Crisis Amid Thai-Myanmar Dispute

Pity they didn't take action against the coup makers at the time but of course it was Thailand's coup makers in power at the same time. -

PEA advises on cost-effective air conditioners amid Thai heat
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
26, 27 is fine for me. As for what BTU to get there are calculators on the net. Another misconception is to set at say 18 to really cool the room down then turn it up to a higher level, let's say 26. This is both more expensive and totally unnecessary. If you want the room at 26 but set to 18 to cool the room down then bump it up to 26 the temp will of course need to be 26 at some stage on it's way down. Set at 26 is all that's needed. It took me a while to explain this one to the missus. -
Bangkok sizzles at 40°C, heatwave scorches Thailand at 43°C
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The humidity I'm talking about is the 80%+ we get in the run up to the wet. It just washes me out. Humidity this month hasn't been high where I am with it being a fairly constant low 50's to low 60's %. -
Bangkok sizzles at 40°C, heatwave scorches Thailand at 43°C

Yes I was one of them initially and i was wrong. It is different this month. Maximums are stll pretty much the same, high 30's, low 40's with high 20's overnight which is consistent with April temps but the difference this year is it's everyday. -

I agree about the humidity. That's the one that really does me in. I swear I perspire in the shower on the really humid days. Have a shower, get out and within minutes wet from perspiration. I take mineral salts on those days. e.g. ....
