A Malaysian ATM card not Thai. Few times the ATM provide cash when I withdraw using the card then today- the remaining money all gone.

Not enough information to understand and provide feedback. Malaysian Bank ATM card used in Thailand, maybe the money is in your account but you cannot access, check with Bank on account balance. Maybe the card was compromised in Malaysia and this has little or nothing to do with Thailand. Maybe, maybe, maybe

Ekornes Stressless chairs are the best recliners. Pricey but superb quality and design.

I have problems standing and walking so I spend a lot of time sitting. Recliner may best investment I ever made. I think you have to see and test drive in the showroom as there are so many variations in size, height and angles of seat, arms, footrest, etc. Then the look and size, so many are way to big for average room size. I thought leather type but doesn't breath. Microfiber very comfortable and after 2+years holding up well. SB Design Square,  *wait for frequent sales promos* I paid 5K less than the current price, Recliner Panto

Just did this 6-8 months ago with Chime Bank. The are an online bank owned by Bancorp. I needed a US address but did not have to supply any proof.

They will issue you a no fee international debit card. You can have your retirement DD with no issues. There cell/mobile app is awesome.. Check it out.

BTW, if you want me to recommend you, they will pay both of us $50.  But you must setup DD.

Ally Bank has worked out well for me. Good service, a good app and some of best saving interest rates available from US banks

Corpus Christie is correct.  And be aware that airmail comes in passenger flights so no airmail from the U.S. right now.  You have two options.  One is getting the bank to send it by courier (FedEx et al) or, if they won't do that or won't send it out of country even at your expense, have it sent to a U.S. address and ask them to forward it one by courier.

Last week I had 2 small package items  sent to me in Bangkok from friends in the US. Both were sent from Las Vegas, one via US Postal Service International Express and arrived in 8 days. The other via DHL and arrived in 7 days. DHL was significantly cheaper.

If you have access to a laptop or desktop computer you can do them just fine.  Or use the website, not the app on your phone.  Not sure if you can do the very first 90 day report online though.

By EMS post has always worked out well for me, the response time for my receipt returned varied, but always found it's way back

...strange post......Not really......never rented in my life and suddenly renting in a foreign country not exactly renowned for the rule of law or any great desire to abide by contracts.

It seems eminently sensible, to me at least, to ask for advice.....but thanks anyway for responding.

More specific information about your situation and requirements may result in more useful responses

    Rule number 1

    ALWAYS ask the price

    BEFORE the work is done

and you can agree or not, possibly negociate

the ''normal'' price is between 500 and 1000 bahts

see the random link at the end of my post

it could be worse, the ''lesson'' about the rule 1 cost was only around 1000 bahts today

in a way you can say you was lucky, imagine if they have asked 3000 or 5000

the work was done, then you just have to pay and can't argue if don't have

asked the price before they start

it's the same rule all over the world.

Very much agree with the idea of prior to starting any work always clarify expectations on the charges and the type of service to be performed. We are in BKK normally 500 but often they have a promotion for 400 per unit

A family member sent me something from IN in the U.S. five weeks ago by two-week mail and it hasn't arrived yet.

I have regularly gotten my US mail forwarded to me in Thailand the last few years. These last few months have definitely been severely impacted and delayed. The last two envelopes I received earlier this month took 5 weeks, last year 2 weeks was normal.

I have bought several items through Lazada - both their store and merchants that use their platform.  On two occasions, I had to send an item back - one purchased through their store for 11k baht and the other through a Bangkok merchant for around 800 baht.

The experience with the Lazada store item was great - went online to note I wanted to return it (didn't work), for their store, they offer a return policy of within 14 days of delivery.  It was delivered by Kerry, they gave me an online bar code to print and put on the package for return by Kerry - Kerry scanned the code, printed the shipping label, and returned the package at no charge. Lazada processed the credit to my card a day after they received the item.

The Merchant was a bit different, plus for merchants, the return policy is 7 days.  Even so, went on Lazada online, they advised they would check with merchant, the merchant called me and I explained the problem (product was not as represented and would not work for my purpose).  Shortly thereafter, Lazada advised me send the item back - in this case, I paid for return shipping by post. Again, a refund to my card was made within a couple of days after the merchant received the return package.

Other than that, I have been happy with shopping using Lazada platform.  Also, since items from outside Thailand take longer for delivery, I like their search feature where you can restrict it to a Thailand based merchant.  I used COD feature the first time, but didn't like the idea of having to be sure I'm home and have exact amount available.  So I switched to paying for the item when ordered.

Thank you, I was starting a response and yours captured all my key points. I have about 400 Lazada transactions and am a big fan, for selection, for price and even for returns. A bore to folks buying electronics or appliances, I always stick to name brands which also often allows for competitive analysis across a broad range of vendors. And I look the history and reviews of the products and the sellers

I use TRUE with a cable modem and WLAN connection to my PC.

I live in a condo in lower Sukhumvit.

A few weeks ago I called TRUE and asked them if they can upgrade my connection speed. They checked in their database and confirmed they can upgrade to 200/50.

I guess you can just call the provider and ask them in which are they support the speed you want.

I was in an older and a true came out, tested and said max was 50.  When we moved it seemed all the very new bldg all had fibre. When we called AIS and gave them the address they only offered 50. When we called TRUE they offered 500/500 promotional package was less than we were quoted by AIS for 50 or that we paid True for 50 in our previous residence. We are in a month and all goes well. We are very happy. Supalai Loft

I just checked BKK/LHR for mid June with Emirates, one way, THB 10,200, that's an unheard of low low price.

Strongly agree, the other day I was looking at Business Class fares from BKK to US for the next few weeks and the carrier I noticed with the largest fare reductions from previous searches was Emirates

    Great! Thanks

for monthly income they all told me only from home branch, opened 5 years earlier in Chiang Mai. I think a couple of responders touched on the bigger and more critical question of if a BKK resident normally serviced from coming CW  can do their extension in another IO Province, ie Jomtien while only staying there for a short time?? I don't think so from what I have read previously but will defer to those with far more expertise than me or the Immigration staff where you plan to do it. I can imagine it would be frustrating to get thru the bank obstacle only to run into the "no can do" gate at immigration.

Fly JAL in business as they don’t have first class, but their business as good as first class. Food was excellent and sleeping was great laying down with a sleeping pill and some great sleep. Only way to travel. Only downside was no showers in lounge in Kyoto. But had a twelve. Hour layover and got to see some of the city.

How do I find this consolidator?

You can see many listed on the web under Google searches for terms like " fly business for less" or cheap business or low cost business class flights or alpha flight guru. I have probably made this IAD/BKK run 10 times but I still solicit multiple quotes for each trip. Sometimes one comes back with a quote USD 200'under another for same route. Or one may come back with a much better route or reduced layover time. Feel free to PM me for my personal favorite consolidator for this IAD/BKK route, as with most good connections, it is not the company BUT the person who happens to work for that company.

Many posts on this thread have mentioned limited carriers but remember that every option requires at least one connection, so many flight options for this route will involve 2 carriers ie  ANA&Thai, ANA&JAL, or similar be it for an Asian route, Middle Eastern route or European route.

My wife and I fly back to the US annually to visit family and friends. We normally fly business class for the reasons already mentioned.  Based on your planned travel dates you should be booking now.  Don’t rely on search engines only. Some airlines have web specials for business class tickets that the search engine will not list. Flying East to West we have gotten good fares in the past with Qatar Air and Turkish Air.  Good luck.

Good to remember that all "business classes" are not created equal, varies dramatically by Airline. And even by the particular flight route and also plane model within a particular airline. That being said, I made my first BC flight from Dulles to BKK in 2014 and said then that as long as I had the financial means it would be my "only way to travel". ???? Everyone has different priorities and preferences, for me the biggest benefits include expedited check-in, lounge access,  lie flat seats, bigger and far less crowded/noisy seating area in a non sardine can environment, on board rest rooms that are used by many less people and fast track access on arrival at BKK. I always get one way between IAD&BKK tickets in either direction of this route for about 1750 from a consolidator. My favorite airlines include Thai, ANA, Etihad, SAS, Lufthansa.

Wake up, we're talking about kasikorn.

    you're talking bulishlt.

to open a new account, I'd have to close my current one. Once I've closed it, I may not be able to open a new one, anywhere, because they've tighted KYC regulations. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to. And if I'm not? As if you were not aware of that.

I agree.  Long time account in Chiang Mai, when I moved to BKK, local Branch told me I could open a new account there and then transfer my funds, but would need documention from my embassy to open account, I left it as it was in Chiang Mai.
