  1. BYD Seal Performance ( AWD ) is rated at 580 km but I doubt anyone gets above 500 km. I have the BYD Seal Premium which is rated at 650 km, realistically I get around 580 km but I do drive conservatively. My efficiency is currently: 13.6 kWh/100 km Battery 80 kw divided by 13.6 = 5.88 x 100 = 588 km range. ( where is the divided symbol on an iPhone ? ). Seal Premium is you want range, Seal Performance if you want performance..

I use home charging but could quite easily rely solely on public charging if necessary, there are chargers at 3 malls ( Big C , Central and City Park ) which I could combine with a weekly grocery shopping trip/long lunch/cinema or just browsing. Central has 8 or 10 chargers all rarely used. Of course it depends on your car usage, battery size and charging speed/location of local chargers but I am sure a weekly visit to one of the above locations would work for me to fulfill my local needs.
  3. Mine is 3.2 baht including VAT + FT Basic tariff 2.83 baht ( i thought it was 2.6 baht ). Could be that my TOU is a 2nd circuit meter with PEA ( EV only designated ).
  4. Yes, i prefer to think of it this way, my Seal would have cost me a further 49.18% if bought in the U.K. and no doubt the cheapest electricity plan there couldn’t compete with my TOU meter ( 2.6 baht per unit ) here.

  6. The U.K. is a different case altogether, identical EV’s £45,500 in the U.K., £30,500 here in Thailand
  7. You can charge an EV with a standard socket ( no adaptor required ), most EV’s supply a charger ( known as a granny or emergency charger ) . If there is no earth wire to your socket then it is likely that the dealer supplied granny charger will not work, but you can buy a charger from Lazada ( I did this to charge at my mother in law’s house ). I charged at home with my granny charger for around a month ( until wall charger installation ) and found it sufficient and very easy.
  8. I think what he means is the wall charger and installation plus 1 year first class insurance and free servicing. When the Dolphin was released it didn’t have the free service plan or a wall charger ( could buy for 25k with installation ) and then it all came back for free at a later date, plus I think they increased the insurance to 2 years ( not 100% sure that was the Dolphin ).
  9. Yep !, I took a weekend break in Hua Hin and drove 110-120 kph when I could but my route, from Ayutthaya, takes me via Bangkok so at times a lot of stop/start traffic. My cumulative AEC went up to 13.5 kWh/100 km 😊 I drive fast when I can but a lot of short trips in the city, I don’t tear away from the lights and ignore those pickups that seem to want to race !! Seems like i get taunted more now in a sportier car, didn’t notice so much in my Honda Jazz !

  17. So, here’s a little video about OTA updates and what to expect if you have not experienced it before. NOTE: this is Australia so is a couple of months after us here in Thailand. The version number is more advanced than ours but I believe that number is date based so while might look like a newer version is possibly the same as they don’t appear to be getting anything above what we already have.. I am assuming these boxes will give access to more apps than Android or IOS , I don’t really know. Anyway , starts around the 6.00 minute mark for anyone interested.

  19. Are you talking about the alleged EV fires or the infrastructure ? I don’t believe you know the meaning of the word !
  20. That what I thought, am sure I saw someone in Australia do it on an Atto 3 but couldn’t find it. For the unitiated: V2L and Granny chargers are supplied FOC with EV’s , V2L enables running electrical appliances from the car and Granny chargers allow charging from a standard socket which is on the V2L cable.
