The plan for at least the coming years and potentially the long run is to raise the child in Thailand. I will still have some ties in the states that will require me to be home say 2months or so a year. Shorter term I plan to stay in Thailand through summer 2025 before visiting home though. I wasnt aware I could spend the 400k. I assumed it was a 90 day check for some reason. That said I'm not sure how the tax situation will work I dont want to get double taxed bringing money in(i know its likely not gonna be double taxed im just kinda wanting to see how it plays out). I still will likely prefer to have the 400k as a more locked in the bank nest egg to secure the visa every year then money I'll spend when i do get it here. I'd actually prefer to move the 400k next year if it made sense but maybe just moving it ASAP is the play. I've actually never attempted to open a bank account here over all this time. I assumed it wouldnt be super difficult but I know the non-o or an agent would help if needed. I'm soon to be 41. I was aware of the 60 day extension to visit wife. Maybe something like 90 day nonO into 60 day with a border run and a reentry would be ideal my current situation? I know I'll eventually want to lock in more of a permanent year long visa obv but if I can get 5 months a stay on a non-O with just having the money in my USA bank that would be ok for now. Ok thanks for clarifying very confusing. I take it the single entry has little requirements and the multi entry is going to require the 400k THB? Any idea if USA bank will cover or does it have to to be Thai?

I'd like to get the Non O where I dont have to leave for a year if possible. Just got the news a child is on the way and wont be able to do long stays with ins and outs to my home country. I'm on the final step of marriage registration with the appointment down at Amphur but going on my 30 day extension while thats going on. The process is really confusing to me but I'm under the impression I'll have to leave to get a Non-O at a diff country. I currently dont even own a Thai bank account I've got the funds there just in my USA account. Is it possible to get a year long Non-O without putting the 400k in a Thai bank for 60 days? I am correct in I can at least get a 90 day Non-0 without having those funds? I was reading past threads and seen people mentioning they could get Non-Os with funds from overseas. Wasnt sure what category they meant. I know my end game is eventually going to be the 400k THB into Thai bank but I'm not in that position just yet.

Hello finally getting married here after beating around the bush for a few years. I've seen some reports from late last year that in Sav I'll be able to get a Non 0 with my 400k being in a foreign bank. Is this still the standard in current landscape? If so is it only Sav that this is available or any other consulates like Penang,Vientenne,Nam etc? I'm USA citizen and would prefer to keep my money in my home country bank rather then move it over here if possible. Thanks

Flying in is always a dice roll if you spent any recent time in Thailand. Travel to Laos or Cambo(one of the good borders) and you'll likely have no problems coming in.

Hey everyone I ended up getting a visa from Vientiane with no questions asked. Coming over the border the IO seemed somewhat annoyed looking at my passport and the computer but I got in no problem. So for those with a history that need a visa Laos is the spot right now.

Yeah you were spot on about more days opening up. Just switched to a Wed which would allow me to be back in Thailand for the weekend assuming drop off and they hold two business days until Friday. Yeah I hear ya on Malaysia not a place I've been into ever going to. Vientiane is as easy as it gets despite being a boring town to me. As long as I didnt have to spend the entire weekend there I can handle it. I see no problem with being a long stay tourist as long as you arent working here taking someones job. Even staying 5+ years you arent breaking the law whatsoever. The money you spend here is good for the economy. Appreciate the advice and hope you continue to run good on staying here without a long term visa.

Going to do a ceremony and then the local trip after. Have to make one final trip to the states before hand but yeah coming soon!

Yeah I actually checked back and found a open day on a Friday. Obv would prefer a better day but as a worst case option thats acceptable. I'm also considering just paying a service and heading down to Penang. Seems like it would take less time. Any reason you didnt consider them? I take it you have thought things out very well with your history. Appreciate the report. 100% I do like those odds!

Yeah I'm checking some visa run services to see if that will make it easier for me. If I do a fly in its likely going to be Utapao sounds like thats the best bet. 15k one way isnt cheap though thats for sure. Might just be not worth the hassle and head home as planned rather then stick a extra 2 months in town. Thanks for the reply

Been engaged for a couple years I've just been lazy to make it official even though it sounds like a much quicker process then this visa crap I deal with. Wedding date is officially going to be Feb 2024 so I'll be done with visas then.

Laos booked up until the 27th for visas. My leave date(I've got free ticket change) is the 22nd that would be a really boring week in Laos. If I was aiming for a full 90 I might try it but for only 60 days and spending a week of it there hoping they give me a visa I dont think I can do it. Yeah I heard U-Tapao is pretty easy going. Ticket prices looking absurdly high and few and far between best I can find is 15k from Nam. Is anywhere else doing easy visas these days outside of Laos? I thought the days of easy TVs were over. I've been slacking way to long on getting the marriage visa this stuff is such a pain these days.

Is this still doable in 2023? I've already used my land border runs and would like to add an extra 60 dqys to my stay. My history is came in on METV last July+2 land borders with extensions. I could enter a specific airport if that would help the cause. I'm guessing Suv and DM would be no fly zones for this.

I'm pretty confused on if I need to do one of these. I came in on a METV a year ago and did multiple extensions no problem at CW without mention of TM30 over that time. Actually I've never been asked for a TM30 ever in my many years of coming and extending visas. My last entry was a border bounce so got 30 days visa exempt and now want to extend 30 more which is now done at IT square. Does this mean I have to to do a TM30? Can I just go stay in a hotel and tell them to do one if thats the case? Can I show up and just pay a fine or would they just make me come back?

My wife said the derm we seen at BPK9 rama 2 closest international hospital to us does specialize in auto immune(I'm not sure on the specialization personally but she says he was). We did have test run there on multiple things. Also went to another more beauty type derm that was a waste of time. Then we did a hair clinic near Central world that was highly regarded online but our results werent good and they seemed more interested in selling us PRP and transplants then really caring about helping. Awesome list of names this is exactly what we were looking for. Ramathi is actually only a 20min drive for us in current no traffic conditions so that clinic will be perfect. Will make an appointment over the next couple days. Thanks alot for that!

I told her I think she would look good with with a shaved head and that with her facial structure she would be pretty. She didnt like the idea of it and thought it wouldnt look good. I understand as I know even men can have a tough time with shaving their head and thats a common hair style for men. The transplant option we researched and for women it doesnt seem to work well anyways. For men it can actually work pretty well. That said I've researched there are some options the experts in the field in the West suggest to try that were not getting here. We just want to make sure were getting the best advice we can and try those routes.

We are regularly doing private for the speed despite the higher pricing. You wouldnt know a specific doctors name that we can look for by any chance? You really gave me a good one in Dr.Arun years back who works at bumrungrad but also works at the BPK9 over by us and he was a legend for me.

Yeah we've discussed that as a worst case scenario. She ordered a cheap one online and said she didnt like wearing it uncomfortable I imagine it takes quite alot of getting used to. Also weather here esp current temps would be rough. My thinking would be with all the LBs here that you could find some amazing beauty places for help with wigs and the such. We googled online and mostly were suggested platinum shopping mall. Any idea where a good place to go to get some professional advice in person on wigs here? I get we can youtube etc but theirs something comforting in talking to a expert in person.

Hello my wife who I love to death has what we have been told is alopecia areata. Shes had it for awhile but its gotten much much worse in the recent year or so. Shes talked to a couple dermas and been to a hair clinic. Shes had some panel test done on hormones thyroid etc, tried overpriced PRP, and is taking consistent minoxodil for over a year. The hair clinic took seems to be a waste of cash and I feel like the derms we talked to arent the right ones. For example I know for a fact in the West cortisone shots are commonly given on the spots as current treatment(I know it doesnt always work its just commonly used as early) yet shes never once been offered it but they love offered the PRP or hair transplants type stuff. Any suggestions on some good derms,doctors,or clinics that really know female hair and are legit?

Yeah I had one of those volunteer visas during covid and was pretty concerned flying in. I seen reports of some getting bothered coming in but nothing was said to me. Also have alot of 6month-1year stays with going home in between for 6months or so. I wouldnt say my travel history is perfect. I really need to switch to the marriage visa as I'm basically married besides by law.

I used to read stories of tons of people having problems coming into DM. Its like my worse nightmare to have a immigration problem. Thanks for the reply!

I'm currently on a METV and still will be when I fly in. I've been here for 2months after being home for 9months. I was going to do a short trip out to Cambo and fly back in. The tickets are quite a bit cheaper through DM but I'm curious what the current status of flying in there is. The unwritten rule years back was dont fly into DM unless you want to risk a IO giving you a hard time. Was hoping that may of changes post covid world.
