  1. Yes, for Russians, truth and honor are seen as a weakness to be exploited...
  2. Please keep us posted...we're all waiting to know how well it works out for you...or not!!😃
  3. Altho many of us will not have to pay additional tax, we will still have to file, which will mostly be done by accountancy firms...a real windfall for them!!!...the way i see it, the banks will hold back 15% of our offshore deposit and we'll have to file in order to have it returned...
  4. Who care about the double tax agreement when my country NZ, doesn't charge capital gains on property sales and Thailand charges something like 39% on capital gains...big loss for me as i see it...
  5. Very true...and also look into who made up the bulk of the Bolsheviks, especially a guy named Yagoda...
  6. Ok, Ok...good analysis and a good point as well, thanks
  7. Thanks all for you input????...altho i would like to direct some of my savings to Thailand, where i have a wife and young daughter, i just can't bring myself to put it in an account earning -1% when in NZ here i have the deposit sitting at 6% on a 6 month term...i could probably find a better rate in Thailand but i'm sure it would be way to risky for my liking and for this time in my life as i'm 75 y.o....
  8. Yes, i've seen that, but i'm asking for recommendation and/or maybe other options...as well, the bank site to which you're referring desplays the rates in a format that not clear to me...thanks for the suggestion tho????
  9. Hi All...i am looking for a Thai bank that has a decent rate for term deposits...hopefully i can get a bit of serious advice here...thanking you all in advance????
  10. Thanks all for the help so far????...altho the Canadian embassy sample looks great, the NZ Embassy letter is just a notarized statement(by me) of my claimed income...in other words, i write the statement and the embassy just puts their stamp on it...
  11. Hi All...I will be submitting my marriage visa application shortly but have a question regarding the Affidavit of Income letter from my embassy...since the embassy form is basically blank, i'm looking for a sample/example of completed form that satisfies Thai immigration...all help will be greatly appreciated!!!...thanks
  12. If having to prove it, then what is the point of submitting "Declaration of Income" sworn document???
  13. Hi All...I am organizing a marriage visa application up here in Sakhon Nakhon using the Declaration of Income letter from my embassy...my question, the wife rang immigration today and said they were fine with my Embassy Declaration as i had left them a copy last week which needed to be reviewed by the Chief...anyway, after my wife spoke with them she said they were also looking for some sort of monthly 40k baht documentation into my Thai bank account from overseas...so now i'm a bit confused because i understood that the Embassy income declaration would satisfy the money aspect of the visa application...anyways, i sure hope i can get some clarity before i return to the Immigration office next week...thanks in advance for any help...James
  14. So, applying for O-A visa from NZ, the 800k baht needs to be seasoned for 2 months in other words??
  15. Just as a matter of interest, the Thai embassy site in New Zealand says the 800k baht needs to be in the bank 2 months before application...is that correct and if not, how does a person inform the Embassy they are incorrect??? cheers
  16. Hi all...me, my wife, and 4 year old will be flying into Suvarnabhumi on Friday and i'm looking for suggestions on the best option for getting to Pattaya... I have seen people suggesting Grab, but not quite sure how that works...also, i don't really want to take a taxi...i'm looking for something clean, comfy, and safe as much as that's possible here in Thailand... i'm looking forward to your help so, big thanks in advance!!!
  17. yes, and she'll be entitled to 50% of all your worldly possessions....a person would be a fool to register a Thai marriage in their home country unless they were looking for residency in that country....
