  1. RIP.

Everybody who drives in Thailand knows they putting their lives at risk every time you get on the road. It does not matter how good of a driver you are; if you lose concentration or get distracted for a second, it could be the end of you. I have not driven in every country; but I have driven in my fair share of Middle Easter, South American and Asian Countries; and Thailand is by far the most dangerous; a combination of Bad Drivers who don't care about Right-of-Way and only care about Me First. Terrible Road Contraction; they seems to have no clue on how to build safe roads; and Law enforcement that is inly interested in shaking people down.

Not correct!  On the occasion of the siege by the police there were no more dead ... except for the perpetrator!

Tell that to the people (entire families) killed while hiding in Foodlands freezer. Or the scores killed while hiding during the night; or the cops that where shot trying to flank him.

My wife's cousin was killed near the entrance riding his motorbike near the entrance.

  3. Had some stuff stolen from my Property. The Police suspected one of the Contractor we had doing some work had stolen the stuff and took him to criminal court. He sued for defamation against us. After several months, he lost his court case. five months after that,  we received a court notice saying he was appealing We had to go back to court again. He lost again. Would not want to go through that again. Defamations Laws are used as punishment and plenty of Thai lawyers willing to launch these cases.

  4. Thailand is a country far behind the rest or the world and it's neighbors; Seems to pride itself in Politicians and Administrators that are even farther behind.

Focus on providing a better education for kids! Having had three kids in the Thai Schools system, I can say their schools and curriculum are ancient; and their English programs have been worse. I always get a laugh out of their tex books teaching english. Pathetic!

Tourists have to get a flight TO Thailand, that is the big issue as it is not only Thailand's quarantine rules, it is jumping through the hoops to get there.

Working in commercial aviation for 35+ years, in meetings with Boeing and Airbus each week, the current predictions as of this week are for air travel not to return to 2019 levels until Q4 2023 or Q1 2024.

Boeing and Airbus have the majority of the commercial airlines in the entire world as their customers, so their statistics should be the trusted ones; not wishful Thai thinking.

Trusting those numbers, there is a great chance people will find alternate destinations in that timeframe to visit and may enjoy them more than Thailand?

It is anyone's guess what could happen to Thai tourism in the future?

Thailand seems to have no clue how many people have been laid off, working on reduced salaries, etc. and may take years to financially recover to afford a long holiday.

Who wants to visit a country in 2021 when half of the businesses have closed down, and new Covid areas are being found every day?

Even with family in Thailand, I am not planning to visit until 2025 right now. Even that length of time, it will all be dependent on the situation in Thailand.

Not only is Covid an issue, air pollution is and will become a huge issue as the government seems to have no clue how to tackle any environmental problems or maybe doesn't want to because there is no money in it for them?

4 years is a long time and with a military government that cannot seem to solve any of the countries problems, it seems Thailand can only to continue to get worse as problems start to compile over the years?

You forgot to also mention that it was reported today that the birth rate in Thailand was alarmingly low with the Ministry of health calling for Immediate attention to this as Thailand.

  6. Tourism. Not needed.

    1. The World Bank in news last week said the Thai Economy in 2021 will grow 4%. It grew 3.8% in 2019 with over 40 million tourist arrivals. So, no tourist needed.  The Economy is projected to grow more than  2019 with much less tourism.

    2. "Finance Minister says economy must pivot away from tourism with a switch to S-Curve industries"

    https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2020/12/03/finance-minister-economy-pivot-from-tourism/

I believe the Finance Ministry more than the Tourism Ministry. All Tourist industry's are trying to keep their chin up; but I think think it is clear that the Government want to move away from Tourism; and is trying to placate the those with investments in the tourism with unrealistic tourism projections.

  7. My wife points out an Hired Assassin that works for the Police and frequents her moms coffee shop. She says he has killed scores of people.

A few years ago I had some issues with a Contractor ripping me off and went to the Police. They recommended a person who could solve the problem. The next day I got a call from a guy who wanted to have a coffee. The first thing he said to me was that he handled the "Dark Side" of issues. I did not like the contractor, but I certainly did not want that on my Karma.
