  1. You estimate the volume and weight of your possessions and the removals company book that space on a container for you and come and pack it for you. You can also buy insurance. They label the possessions on each box for potential import tax but if you put the order in your Thai wifes name then you may avoid any import tax?
  2. I used Dkbb from Bangkok...look them upon Facebook. They fitted out my entire house.... bespoke design, quality, and fitting all brilliant.
  3. Hi all...my annual extension finishes 11th November. I usually apply for further annual extension mid October and immigration office Udonthani say come back mid December to collect. I need to be out of Thailand from 2nd November to 2nd December and am wondering if this is possible without srewing up extension. Assuming all goes well with annual extension in mid October can I leave 2nd November on a re-entry permit during my consideration period. When I return early December what date will they stamp me in too. Will it be the end of consideration period..mid December? TIA for guidance.. Gavlar
  4. Hi...no I am dealing with a detatched retina... As Sheryl says you go physically there and make an appointment after registering at the hospital. Can be very busy but you can make a private evening appointment if they cant see you during the day.
  5. Professor Tan speaks fluent english if you can get him..
  6. Hi...the eye clinic (no.5) was rammed Monday and could not take anymore people that day. You cannot book an appointment in the day clinic...just queue. You then have an option to book for an evening clinic which you do in a different building and basically also register yourself in the hospital. That evenings clinic was also full so I booked an appointment for the following evening. You then on the day have to pick up your file where you registered, collect your "hospital card" and your appointment ticket. Then back to main Eye clinic (5) where you give your file and then wait to see the doctor. You then discuss fix procedures options and they agree surgery date and cost...then down to surgery building to check in for operation date and overnight room and arrange Covid test on op day. Just arrived...done covid test and awaiting result. Into room midday and op tonight 7pm. There did not appear to be a "private" route or fast track.
  7. Hi all and thanks for replies..seen Prof Tan today at Khon Kaen...op on Friday morning. Mix of laser and gas injection ...circa 50% of cost of Bangkok hospital....not that cost is the ultimate driving factor when it comes to your health but Prof Tan also generated a great deal of confidence...perfect english and a bit of a livewire.
  8. I think if you have an actual detachment you should seek a second opinion....the recommendation in the UK is you should get it fixed asap as the re-attachment is generally stronger when caught early...
  9. Thanks Sheryl...went today got appt for tomorrow afternoon Hi...mine definitely detatched and higher risk to leave it detatched as you can lose your sight completely... Had both lens replaced about 7 years ago 1 longsighted and 1 shortsighted and the brain sorts it out. Had a detatched retina about 2 years ago that was repaired at Moorfields London and was perfect. This detachment is bottom the previous one upper. I'll update when I get sorted..
  10. Thanks for info...had the gas under local in UK as previous tear was on top of eye so fortunately had to sit upright and not face down. That's why their recommending heavy oil to allow me not to have to lie face down.... Planning to head to Khon Kaen tomorrow...hopefully I'll be able to see your professor. It's that or hop on a plane and go to Moorfields eye hospital (again) in London.
  11. Hi, I have a detatched retina on bottom of my eye. Unfortunately my private insurance has this eye as an exclusion, as I had previous operations on it in UK. Just been to Bangkok Hospital Udon Thani who are recommending silicone oil operation to push the retina back into position and then a further operation in a few months to remove the silicone oil. This comes at a considerable cost depending on local or general anaesthetic. Has anyone any experience of having a similar operation in the NE at a general hospital, such as in Koen Kaen, and able to share approximate costs it would be greatly appreciated. TIA
  12. Hi...couple of quick questions... I'm returning to UK for a couple of weeks 16th Jan 2023. How soon before 16th Jan can I purchase either a single or multi re-entry ticket at immigration.
  13. If I were you.....I would check where your nearest UK passport office is to where you are staying....it might be nearby and even if it's a bit of a drive, make it a day trip out. Save you all the hassle of going to Bangkok on your return.....unless you live there.
  14. The turnaround time for UK visa on the Thai passport can take up to 6 months currently ...my mate just got his wifes yesterday and flies tomorrow. You can pay for a fast track visa but it isn't cheap. Will your daughters UK passport run out in the UK?....if not I dont see any issue ...in flight back from UK you just use her new Thai passport to check in and show you have a current UK passport.
  15. Could try and book now for when your back in case they are overrun with people trying to get passports for hilodays.....when I was in UK pre Ukraine war, I was able to book an appointment for the following week.
  16. Best to get a new UK passport when back in Uk. You can book an online appointment at the local passport office....costs a bit more but very fast
  17. Last year I left the money in my bank just in case they asked but they didn't. I was just wondering if they could ask as part of the conditions for giving me my passport with the extension.
  18. Hi...I am doing my second extension based on my son later this year. Current extension finishes mid Nov and planning to apply mid October (Udon Thani). I have 2 questions.. (1) Does the 400,000 seasoned in the bank account have to be the bank 2 or 3 months before the date of application in mid October.. (2) Once the application is done, when is it safe to reduce the bank balance below 400,000. If I remember correctly, last year I applied mid October (30 days prior to visa ending) and didn't get my extension from immigration until mid December...30 days consideration period from end of my then visa. TIA for confirmation
  19. I'm probably way off the mark...but if the kids were born in Thailand and have Thai birth certificates can the op not obtain Thai passports for them at local embassy. Which they use to enter Thailand. Then apply for non O visiting family. Then do an annual extension when in Thailand. I'm probably missing something .....
  20. I shipped all my personal stuff ...in my Thai partners name ....took about 10 weeks to get here and no damage...and no custom payment as in partners name. I used a local company in Wales.....packed everything....great service.
  21. Hi all...my 1st ever 90 day report is due on 8th March. How early can I do it in person and apart from passport do I need to bring anything else or have any official forms to fill in. TIA

  23. Just got a new PCX yesterday and I "turn off " the key every time I park and alarm it.
  24. Most holiday insurance purchased in UK only covers a maximum 2 month trip....You can upgrade Staysure basic policy to premium which gives 1 three month trip in the year the policy is live.
