The more i read the more confused i get. Oy. Here goes. Im here on a 60 day single entry visa. I am over 50 and want a retirement visa. I am getting an affadavit of income from the US embassy. Once I have that affadavit, what are my next steps. Thank you in advance.

[30 day extension question]

Im here on a 60 day visa which expires end of march. Im going to apply for 30 day extension. My question is the 30 day extension effective from the day you apply or is it 30 days from the last day on the original 60 day visa. For ex if my visa has a date of 3/30 but i apply for the 30 day extension on 3/5...will the extension be from 3/5 or 3/30

i am arriving in Thailand on the 26th of january  with a return to the usa on may 10th.  I have a 60 day visa, which i know i can get an extension of 30 days for a total of 90 days.  However, my flight home is past 90 days.  My question is, if i take a side trip to vietnam for a week, and return, will I get an additional 30 days from the point of entry or am I screwed.  I can change my ticket home but would rather not as I am trying to retire in thailand in the fall.
