  1. Please can someone recommend any good dentists in Bangkok which is reasonably priced. Preferably you had treatment there a while ago and can give feedback on whether you are happy with what they did. - I have heard a couple of stories about people getting work done and believed it to be good, but then (many months later) have problems due to infection underneath the filling because it wasn't cleaned out properly. If you know of any dentists to absolutely avoid, that would also be good for this list ;)

  3. I thought I would update how the 30-day visa went at Laksi: PS: I was currently on a 30 day waiver and applied for an additional 30 days at Laksi. I went to immigration at I.T. Square, Laksi (3rd Floor). I was one day overstayed and it was completely fine. It's just a standard procedure to pay the 500 baht penalty, and it was without any worry or slap on the wrist. I asked my hotel to do a TM30 (which they did online) and they sent me a screenshot of it. I printed it out (and was completely fine). There are a few photocopy and print shops in the same room as immigration. I spent about 30 mins filling in forms and organising stuff, and then I had to wait about 2 hours to get seen, and then an additional 30 mins to receive the completed visa in my passport. I arrived at about 2pm and left at about 5pm I was customer number 255 of the day, and it went to almost 400 (last person). I had a 1 hour massage while I was waiting (directly opposite the queue), one of the massage staff was checking the queue number (from time to time). All in all, an easy afternoon. Apparently, you can now book your appointment online, rather than queue and wait. I have NO IDEA how it works. But thought i'd mention it.
  4. Do they require me to show an outbound flight ticket? Right now I didnt get one. I could always book one while at immigration if they demand it. But,, generally speaking, do they usually ask for proof of exit ?
  5. Isn't the ChangWattana immigration office (in the huge government complex) the exact same thing as LakSi immigration office ? or, is there a reason you said "attend LakSi immigration office not CW".
  6. ooh. I booked on booking.com and the hotel didnt even ask me for my passport when I checked in. if I turn up to changwattana, will it hinder my application? also: what would happen if I turn up to changwattana immigration 1 day AFTER my current visa expires? is it a simple "pay 500 baht fine" and then they add the extension?
  7. British Passport. Current Visa: 30 days visa waiver. Just a day or two to go before it ends... But I want to stay an extra week or two. I dont fancy doing a visa-run. Am I correct that I just need to go to ChangWattana and get a 7 day extension? (or is it 30 days)? or can I get longer ? Also: what would happen if I turned up to ChangWattana 1 day AFTER my current visa expires? is it a simple case of paying the 500 baht overstay fine, and then getting the extension?
  8. I am a UK Passport holder. so does that mean I automatically get 30 days upon arrival in Suvarnabhumi. Would it be the same if I arrive (internationally) to Don Muang or Phuket? PS: So I guess this article is incorrect: https://www.handyvisas.com/news/thailand-to-keep-45-day-visa-free-stays-until-the-end-of-2023/
  9. I want to stay in Thailand for about a month. I am a UK Passport Holder. I read online there is a Visa on Arrival at Suvarnabhumi which gives 15 days I also read online there is a Visa Exemption which is 30 days. I also read that the 30 day exemption is now 45 days. I can't work out the difference between a Visa on Arrival and a Visa Exemption. Can I get either? How would I choose the 30 or 45 day exemption?
  10. Thanks for all the input. I may just come on a Visa on Arrival. is it 15 days visa on arrival at Suvarnabhumi? 30 would be perfect for my needs. I just read a few articles online saying there is a 30 day and 45 day visa exemption. is this true? I'm from the UK. Do I need to do anything to obtain either of these ?
  11. It vets your Nationality and Location. The second I put my Location as India, I am not allowed to continue. But if I put UK as my Location, I can proceed.
  12. I'm a British National and have Two Questions: (1) I am currently in Mumbai India and want to get a thai tourist visa (60 days). Has anyone had experience with the Thai Consulate in Mumbai? How is it there? What is the turn-around time ? How are the queues, etc ? (2) British nationals are NOT allowed to apply for an e-visa if they are currently in India. But what is to stop me from applying? or, is it a silly idea?
  13. So I guess it means she (and her family) will be rejected at Suvarnabhumi. Have you heard about people getting rejected at Suvarnabhumi for not having the correct PCR test?
  14. So, it means the clinic in London is wrongly telling people their standard PCR test is suitable for Thailand. Have you heard about people getting rejected at Suvarnabhumi for not having the correct PCR test?
  15. My sister is going from the UK for a 3 week holiday with her family. The clinic she is dealing with (in London) said that their PCR test is suitable for Thailand. But the Thai Airways flight confirmation email says that the test needs to be an RT-PCR test. Does anyone know what Suvarnabhumi immigration accepts? is a normal PCR test acceptable? or must it be an RT-PCR test? * none of her family are vaccinated, so they are doing the covid-test method to enter, but now she is worried that the clinic is giving her incorrect info.
  16. I think he means 'face scan' (and not retina scan) from the 'e-gates' at Airports in the UK. They are used to match a persons face to their passport to verify it is a match. While I am sure it possibly uses eyes, nose and facial features, I dont believe it is solely an 'eye-scan'.
  17. I wonder if the facial recognition cameras at the Thai immigration are purely to match face to passport (for ID verification purposes), and not for face-matching against millions of faces on a database? Also,, I honestly cant remember, but do they also have face recognition cameras at land-borders too? (ie: Poipet & Nong Khai)
  18. Thanks for the reply.. She was banned for 3 years for overstaying... She was never caught and paid the 20,000 THB upon leaving Suvarnabhumi Airport last year. She had the idea to legally change her name and get a valid new passport. She is hoping to try coming back to Thailand for a 30 day holiday (and nothing more). And, she said she is prepared to fly to Cambodia or neighbouring country to land-cross into Thailand (if that makes the process easier). Her main worry is if the scanner (finger or face) will actually perform a full database check against all previously banned people from Thailand, therefore getting caught at the border trying to enter illegally. If this happens, she doesnt mind getting denied entry; But obviously worries about being arrested and jailed. I suppose she wont mind the latter if its just a few days waiting for admin and flight... But obviously she wont want any long-term detention time time. I'm also wondering if she manages to Enter thailand, but gets caught Leaving Thailand! It's possible that the finger-scan database may 'match' with her previous name during her 30 day visit and she may be 'red flagged' and caught trying to exit the country at the end of the holiday. In that case, would they let her leave? or arrest her? * thanks for your previous comment.
  19. How certain are you that the fingerprint scanners dont actually perform a database match against all known banned people? What makes you sure that the scanners only save the file, and nothing more ?
  20. I've not been to Thailand for 5 years... (but the friend in question just left there last year, and was banned for 3 years for overstaying). I really cant remember being photographed on any of my entry or exits at any airport of border 5 to 7 years ago. What kind of photo (face scan) system did they have since 7 years ago? because honestly I cant remember anything of the sort.
  21. I'm not asking anyone to find a way around the law. I am asking a question about the immigration and system. (for example, if I said: "what would happen if a man commits fraud, What is the amount of jail time they will receive?") So really, please consider this as request for knowledge, rather than asking for ways around the law. - I have given a situation and am asking what the rules are.
