In essence he has regularly visited his partner in Kanchanaburi for the past three years, working full time in the UK and travelling here for a few weeks/month at a time various times of the year. He is not here full time. You are correct he would have had to have had medical insurance for the duration of his current visit. I guess lying in hospital with critical injuries (fractured skull etc) may have cause him to have had a memory lapse about cancelling his flight home and extending his insurance.
Ok so he works in the UK and was on holiday. You clearly know more about the whole episode than me and it sounds like your saying he had insurance which expired after the incident, is that right, he was covered when the incident took place? As for holding out the tin cup now for a working guy that could easily pay this bill on a credit card, no thanks, be responsible for your own mistakes.

The article says he lived in Thailand for 3 years with his wife. If he arrived in December he would have had a minimum of $50,000 medical insurance for the duration of his stay. If he cancelled his flight home and didn`t extend his insurance that`s pretty stupid with the endless possibilities that it may be required for. As they say, up to him, but it`s not Go Fund Me worthy imo.

Insurance expired because of unexpected extended stay, 3 years ????? The guy can`t afford to live in Thailand is the reality, I won`t be contributing to any Go Fund Me of that kind. Get better, go back to the UK and get work.

They are putting the whole Sandbox program at risk with their entitled attitudes. No doubt the rhetoric is `in my country` well wake up this isn`t your country. If everyone has this attitude of squatters the program risks being shelved. Take them back to the airport and get rid of them, they won`t be missed.

Why would I be having a laugh? Weren`t the rules clear enough for people when they applied, hadn`t there been previous stories of people testing positive on arrival, haven`t countries be been advising against all non essential travel? But of course the old `it won`t happen to me` outweighed all common sense and therefore cheapening out on the insurance. And now we have the entitled attitude to deny the hotels other business and putting staff at risk.

They took the risk by not getting fully insured for the all possibilities and lost now they should stop selfishly putting others at risk and go to the hospital.

I`m from the UK and currently as things stand I can`t get in without a vaccine. My only option will be to spend a night in Ireland I`m thinking. Not too worried right now but do have to go back for a few weeks in June.

I`m pretty sure I meet all the requirements to leave and return should I so wish. I am the holder of a Non O-A visa based on retirement and I hold a valid insurance with one of the recognised companies which also meets the Covid 19 requirements. The only query I have is regarding the finances. I have always deposited in excess of 65,000 thb per month, I`m not holding 800k in my Thai account. Indeed the London Embassy says nothing about meeting any financial requirement if you are already a holder of a qualifying visa, is this correct, will my 65k + a month mean I can return?
While Thailand still puts in place travel restriction, foreign nationals who are holder of Non-Immigrant O-A and O-X can apply for the Certificate of Entry to go to Thailand. If your spouse wishes to go to Thailand with you, both of you must apply for O-A/O-X visa (non-O retirement visa is not permitted).
Required documents :
- Your passport copy
- Copy of your O-A/O-X visa
- Copy of health insurance policy which covers COVID-19 related medical expenses in Thailand no less than 100,000 USD for the whole period of your stay in Thailand
- Declaration form
- A copy of flight confirmation
- A copy of ASQ booking confirmation
-
Most I know on Non O retirement are using agents because they can`t meet the financial requirements, hence they can`t afford full insurance.

Why the discrimination against O retirement visa holders? Why is one group of retiree allowed but not the other group of retiree?
I think almost everyone who was on O-A have changed to O visa last year. Now they want us to change back?
And why the discrimination against Non O-A visas needing insurance and Non O not needing it? Maybe after this crisis it will now become a requirement for both visas.

They don`t want expats gaming the system, thats the real problem here. My yearly extensions cost me 1900 baht and I`m in and out of immigration in an hour. If your on the correct visa to live here and have the money it`s a breeze. All those blowing their trumpets about their huge financial contributions have had the Elite Visa option, but no, try to game the system for a freebie, and now ungrateful because they have to queue up, unbelivable.

Keep treating us like <deleted>. In Pattaya everybody sent to some far away stadium. No copy machines, no water, hot as hell. Hundreds of people. The line is not moving. Policemen order everybody to put the <deleted> mask on. Those who have chosen to leave the country - good choice, guys.
And do it all again next month ????

They can make covig app but cannot make app for visa extension appointment. You know why they do this ?? Because only this way the extra fast service work and they earn mpre extra pocket money. This is the brain of thai asia.
No, it`s the stupidity of the Farangs that didn`t listen to what they were told to avoid the queues, what a bunch of ungrateful numptys.

At the Expat Travel Expo (EMQuartier) they were offering 4 one-way Samui flights for 4,800 THB (1,200 a flight).
They were also offering 4 domestic flights to anywhere for 3,800 but that was sold out before I got there (2pm on the 1st day).
I have tried getting these deals online and it directs me to the page bit I cannot complete the booking without a promotion code which it doesn`t give me ????

Hopefully this trash will be blacklisted from Thailand now, good riddance.

There are still a fair number of under 50 looking guys hanging in Pattaya...I have no idea how they able to stay here so long......Sure some maybe independently wealthy but I really doubt all of them are....
Bank of Mum & Dad, credit cards, scamming, working without a permit, ED visas and volunteer visas obtained from agents, overstayers etc etc The ones here fully legit and with some real money are in a very very tiny minority.

Why would you be on a pension when under 50 unless you have some sort of disability?

Oh boy, those same people who got upset over the amnesty are not going to be too thrilled if this long term tourist visa comes to fruition.
Why not, it`s coming and you have to get it out of country and do the 14 days quarantine, it`s designed that way to begin admitting long term tourists.

I doubt they will be blacklisting people who don't leave right away during a pandemic. They'll be happy to collect the fines though if it's not extended.
That`s if you surrender at immigration or when leaving the country. If for any other reason you have to present your passport, such as being stopped in the street, you will be banged up in the monkey house, deported and blacklisted.

Having read all the posts one thing is clear to me, this is not a worthy Go Fund Me case. Get your credit card out and pay for your own mistakes instead of holding the tin cup out when there are far more worthy cases out there.
