My thought exactly!.. on the comeback potential of the US housing market, within the next 3 years.

Now there are bargains to be had …everywhere!

U know what they say…LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Yeah…if I have the money to buy the block of 10 + a nice house in the westcoast + one in Thailand,….Well I probably wouldn’t be on thaivisa chatting my night away…haha

But sadly I’m still ratracing, just like most of the people in the world.

I’m just “a tiny investor”..so only one unit…is all I’m willing to try out, and the rest of TV members here just has to go after those themselves.

Still thinking tho and there a few members here who are living in Florida, so I’m waiting for some more feedbacks on their location.

Better choice for short-term investment than Thailand, I think

    Are you interested too? :)

  2. Well most people conciously or subconciously if given two people equally qualified and capable fo a job will hire the one with best Hooters/arse/legs/moustache(if thats yer thing). I cannot believe anyone who can 'honestly' say they wouldnt.

The good thing about Thailand for me is that we can do that completly conciously and actually discuss the aplicants asthetic contributions to the company without Jeopardy.

beauty sells.... I am an ok salesman but I doubt i would be perfect for selling victorias secret ... though I am happy to model her lingerie line.

The good thing is......why wasting the time of unqualified applicants, if you're looking for the specific...like...young, fresh, elastically bouncing like bunnies..etcs

    Honesty is the best policy

    In some way, it's a...WIN-WIN...yeah :)

  3. Thailand never advertises itself as the land of equal opportunity for everyone. You knew this before came over here.

The main reason they can do that, because they think that's what the customers want to see. Pretty things and cuteness go a long way over here. Plus many thai women older than 35 - are busy taking care/raising the children thus fitting into a traditional role - less mobile for longer working hours (they assume), and well in many cases - less taken care of themselves. Just a few of my observation.

It's not a very bs really if you look at the quantity of the supply out there, so why not?

If you think it's a BS, then you should stick around back home, then you wouldn't be seeing the things you don't like and can't control.

It's a different country and culture all together...simple as that

I'd agree of the level of service wasn't as c..p here! They may be pretty but they sure are useless!

When it comes to service (in the normal, accepted term), most people just want someone competent, knowledgable, who can sort out their problem.

    Yes

Mostly it’s who you know, how you look…NOT what you know.

This is how it’s here in Thailand sadly

  4. one thing i love about Thailand is that men can still be men here. you can put ads in that require physical characteristics "seeking attractive 45 kilo white skin secretary"... you'd get fired for that back home.

edit:...Oh...wait ...Come to think of it

I wish thailand is like back in your farang land too, where I can see many young, cute, real hansom, better fit & taken care of themselves,..than what got washed up ashore over here. :)

  5. if you move there, you could be the only one living there!! seriously! :)

THAT what I'm afraid of... :D

    NO not that one

The one I'm thinking is in Miami - 2 bds unit

The price is too tempting tho. It's a condo-hotel,..not just a condo units only.....real hotel rooms on the first 5 floors - ocean front

Well I have heard the hedgefunds are doing it tho, buying in a block of 10 units at $38000 each. I can only buy one..so the price is much higher than THAT, but still it's at the construction cost. Not too bad if it turns out to be viable.

Any members here know about the Florida condo market?...Miami or Tempa.........can't really afford Ft.Lauderdale

I'm doing more research myself on the area at the moment. So still in the only "thinking" stage...but "seriously"

    Heng?.....I remember you have a condo there?...still?

May be we can be neighbor? :D

But in noway I will put any more money in thailand beside the primary residence, ....better opportunities and bargains else where, for the next 3 yrs, me think here

Hmm....may be after China collapsed first, then thailand will be wosen than at the moment....so will check back again

Looking in Hawaii, but too many asian owners, so the prices are still holding better than Florida,...that's what I know at the moment.

  6. Right now it’s all about preserving of the capital for me. However it doesn’t mean I want to sit on a pile of it. And just not sure if I want to put more money into another place in Thailand again, just in case something is to happen. So thinking about spreading the money around….in which I don’t have much to begin with….so have to be very careful about it.

I think just like everyone else, I’m looking for a fire sale - a condo in Florida somewhere.

I’m looking for Chaingmai, but my head is telling me Florida is the better and more logical choice, for an investment property. Due to the depressed, over built, and bank repossessed condo market there, I have found several nice condo for around $60,000 - $ 100,000, they used to be around anywhere from $300,000- $500,000!!!…some - on ocean front, some - great ocean view. Believe me there are glut of them!!… which will give you the “better return” in about 3 years…I think

So US real estate is still my best choice for now

Haven't made the move, but thinking thinking ..seriously

The problem is I have never been there.. :)

  7. How can the OP with that piece of info expect to get an serious answer???

And why is the OP posting this in the first place? He is not taking advice in this thread for that seriously to direct his future life on that...hopefully!

    :D

It could be that he's just hoping that some TV input will help him make up his mind.

But I'd say he's decided and he's coming back regardless.

Yup....I have found that often times ...

Most people come here,...not really asking for advices, but "actually" the validations of what they are about to do. :)

  8. Thanks all for your helpful replies,…Alant, Simcity, Jiu-Jitsu

I will pass along your info ……My mom just wanted to make sure that people in Thailand can contact her “instantly” in case of some emergency, and when we do get separated during the sightseeings. My mom do get panic easily.

Ok I will remind them to check on their international roaming coverage, and good to know their thai phone will work over in France.

    Thanks all again ja

    teacup :)

  9. Hi

I will be in Paris soon meeting up with some family members from Thailand, but just wondering….

If the thai phone will work in France as well, my mom wants to know - many of her friends had been to France however they never used their cell there.

I know my Verizon - US works well when I’m in Thailand when calling back to the US and anywhere else in Thailand.

    Thanks in advance :)

  10. Thought I wouldn’t be posting anymore but I just have to chime in a bit here, if you don’t mind.

You guys here need to get a life, or go out there and join some yoga class at lumpini park at wee wee morning hours or something. Many of you here are so obsessed with the troll-like topics esp where the bargirl concerns. Some look down at them, some look down at farangs who married to them.

Does it matter if one’s wife used to be a bar girl or not, bargirl is an occupation too just like you’re slaving away your sweat to earn money in your “professional job” and/or sometimes giving up your dignity, having to bow to your boss too…except these girls are into grinding of the fresh business. Hey it’s not as easy as it looks, just imagine what goes behind those closed door, curtain closed, and all those spanking or yoga moves stuffs among other things they have to perform….must be annoying and tiring indeed..hmm. :)

Where am I?…oh right ….being successful married to the bargirl?

These girls are human too, and deserve a better life/happiness just like everyone else. Many times one’s occupation has no direct correlation to whether you will have a successful marriage or not. Most successful marriage is all about whatever works between both of them. What works between you and your wife, "may" not work between John and Noi, or Somchai and Porn….etcs

And how do you define “having a successful marriage” anyway. Do you know many times non-bargirls can better hide their greed than a bargirls too, that’s why you see many divorces among hi-so, and so-so group also.

Anyway still, it’s non of my or yours business who married to who, and I doubt it that many will go out with a loud speaker and say …Hey Hey look at my sexy bargirl wife, YayYay I’m married to her and I’m very Happy!!! ...Well duh duh..many happy couples just don’t spend times/sit around talking about how happy they are,.. they have a LIFE of their own you know. It’s the one that failed who feel the need to know how everyone else makes it and he didn’t. The better prediction of how successful marriage you will have is …to look within yourself too when thing don’t work out.

Just a short version of my thoughts here

    Farewell

  11. 36,000 Baht per month for home cooked food?

Well it doesn't look like he will be eating radna with rice, and 3 fried crickets for each,....like you and me, uncle :D

    edit:

oh forgot about....nampla priks for jim jim also :)

  12. Most of the Thais that I know are not that well educated and wouldn't know what a "Brit" is.

    True....couldn't tell the diff

A lout is a lout, no matter of what nationality ...including our own thais.....will not be welcomed anywhere here.

You only have to behave, then we will see you only as a gentleman.

  13. I am looking for an investor. The investment means in a nutshell that the investor invests 350,000 THB in my company Tip-Tip CO. Ltd. and will receive 700,000 THB in return within a mutual agreed period. The easiest way to double your money without having to work for it.

If it’s such a good deal, why don’t you borrow the money from the bank and keep the profit yourself?

I’m sure any bank would be HAPPY to lend you....

“If it’s too good to be true, then it’s too good to be true” :)

  14. 'ello Crossy

oh...we are all very nice.....esp ME

I did help you w/ the glassblock flooring project of yours, didn't I, uncle Crossy? :)

BUT in the last 6 mos, I think we all had about 3-4 warnings about these accounts, just get a bit tired of explaining the same thing all over again everytime.

Don't you have some posted-note or something...pegging to all of our accounts explaining the reason to remind you about us?

I have one more question to go, will save for just a bit later, coz I don't want you to get all real confused this time around.

    tc

  15. Mods

To make a long story short, in our household we have 4 people sharing the same IP or ping whatever you guys call it out there.

This seems to give all of us problem sometimes because the mods think we are the same person, which we are not

    We have....

    My brother-in-law & My sister

    My boyfriend

    &

    ME

My question is ....do we each have to have diff ping number, in order to be a member and not get in trouble with the mods?

oii....I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly or not, coz I'm not an IT geek... lol

I also have several more questions....but will save for later

    Thanks in advance

    tc

  16. To the OP

I feel same same but different.

I have found many questions were quite pathetic really.... and mostly could have been solved by yourself even if you’re born with just a one single commonsense brain cell.

And also have found many threads should belong in the joke section, literally…no offence to anyone here.

But of course I’m not the mod, so I usually just skipped them…as my tastes are different when it comes to the sense of jokes. :)

  17. The best way is to plan out carefully so that you can have enough money to live in both places…….so you can have the best of both worlds, just a plane ride away.

There are many of us here who are enjoying the above privilege from the years of careful planning, ahead of time. :)

  18. Ian

Most “normal” thai women are quite shy and very cautious. They don’t go out of their way to make friends with strangers easily, esp a farang one.

If they see a farang, the first thing comes to their mind is…oh why is he here, or what he’s doing in Thailand?…esp the “older and still unmarried”

NOT>>>> oh that's a farang, I want to marry him, or he's rich or I need to get him to notice me....blah blah blah

To tell you the truth…..farangs men don’t have a good reputation in their mind, ….wink wink

Unless you can gain their trust through their mutual friends and acquaintances, it is unlikely you will even be sitting 10 ft apart and sharing a coffee with any of them.

Many of them think, farangs like to have an easy boom boom and that’s it. Most thai women are extremely conservative, and proper.

That’s why be able to speak thai is very important to see another Thailand, but many farangs here think….why should I, when English is a more universal language, and the thai should be learning them more, not me learning the thai more if they want my money or me buying their stuffs? Etcs.

  19. We got married in the regestry, no expensive wedding, no sinsot and NOTHING to to outlaws.

My sister and her husband (farang) did the same, and now 20 some years later are still happily married.

They both graduated from the west and same age

So all in all...no sinsot, our whole family think is so....outdated custom. All they ever wanted is for us to be happy with our chosen partner, and please save your money to build your own life,......and try not to call home for $$$$ often. :)
