Thanks for the reply ubonjoe. Yes I was. Our problem is my extension has expired while we have been out of LOS so the option for my wife to apply for a non imm o visa ( to visit spouse)at the consulate isn't available. We wanted to avoid having to maintain two lots of 800k in the bank but I guess that will be the easiest and simplest option.

Hello All
Is there still the option for a dependant spouse to piggy back onto a husbands/wives Extension to Stay? I know the option was available previously but I cannot find any reference on the immigration website apart from dependants of those who are on work visas.

Hello
I am looking to return to LOS in March next year. I understand that I can enter visa exempt and apply for the extension but would have to prove my 800k came from overseas. I already have the 800k in the bank but probably will not be able to acquire a FET because some of the 800k was transferred in without a foreign transaction code.
My question is , can I enter using a 60 day tourist visa and apply for the retirement extension seeing the 800k will already be seasoned?

Why.. Are you interested intravel to Cambodia...
Not exactly, just want to check out my options if my flight out of the LOS in September gets cancelled again. A border run may be an option as I am on a non o which doesn't expire until mid December

Hello
Can you use a Foreign Currency Account balance equivalent to 800k baht for the purposes of a 12 month extension based on retirement so long as it meets all the other requirements such as seasoning etc?
Any replies appreciated

Hello
I have to do my first 90 report at Jomtien shortly and was wondering if there is any sort of supporting documentation required apart from my passport and completed TM47.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hello All
I am going to get my wife piggy backed onto my visa/extension to stay as my dependant spouse. One of the requirements from immigration is a marriage certificate certified by our embassy(Australian). I noticed from the embassy website there are a number of options for notarial services and I am hoping someone here can advise me of which one I need.
I am hoping all I need is a copy of the marriage certificate certified as a true copy by the embassy. Is that the case, or do I have to have the original marriage certificate notarised as being the real deal by the embassy?
Hoping someone who has been through the process at Jomtien Immigration can offer any insights

don't have to get them bound by a Notary. Stapled together or held with a paper clip satisfies their requirement for "bound together" at least at the consulate in Sydney.
When I went through the process last December, the requirement was one original and two copies with all three sets certified by a JP or notary. Have to have rocks in your head to use a notary when JP services are free at most libraries. My only difficulty with the whole process was the JP would certify the two copies as true copies but wouldn't stamp the originals as a "true copy" for obvious reasons. I got around that by making a third copy of everything and getting that certified the next day. I then submitted the three certified copies to the Sydney Consulate and kept the originals. I was asked which docs were the originals when the girl at the lodging counter couldn't determine which set was the original after trying to smudge the ink on all the covers. No big surprise there. I pointed to one set and shrugged which satisfied her. If i were to go through the process again, I would try and coax the JP into stamping the originals despite what the stamp says.

Thanks ubonjoe, I suspected as much

Hello
Does anyone know if you are required to submit any supporting documents for notifying your change of address at Jomtien Immigration apart from the T28 itself?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hello
I recently re-entered the kingdom at Don Muang with a ME Non imm OA visa and something unusual happened , unusual at least in my experience. After stamping my passport, the IO photographed every page with her phone before handing it back and waving me through. No questions or comments, just photographed the passport and sent me on my way. Does this happen often or does anyone know if there could be some reason for photographing my passport?
I am assuming this must be routine due to the "no questions/comments" but with 7 or 8 entries into Thailand under my belt, it was a first for me.

The extension can be applied for during the last 30 days or 45 days at some offices of the 90 day entry.
You will need your marriage certificate that has been certified by your embassy or the government where it was issued and a copy of it.
Copies of the passport photo page of the spouse that has the extension and their extension of stay stamp.
does the marriage certificate need to be translated to Thai and certified by MFA if its in english? My question relates to an Australian marriage certificate.

Hello
Can anyone give me a heads up on what is required to report my address to Jomtien immigration. I know about the Housemaster form(t28/30?) but are there any other requirements such as passport copies, photos etc

Thanks for the replies. You guys make navigating the visa minefields a breeze, even for a numby like me

Hello
I have an non imm multi entry OA visa which I received in Sydney when I applied for a "retirement visa" . My wife applied for a "non thai dependant spouse visa" and was issued with a non imm multi entry O visa. I am guessing that when we enter the Kingdom, I will be allowed a 12 month stay having to report every 90 days? I am not sure what the implication of the "O" visa is for my wife. Will she be allowed the same length stay or will her entry only for be for 90 days? Will she have to report to immigration every 90 days the same as me?
Thanks for any replies

thanks all for the replies.
ubonjoe - I don't understand how the tabien baans work, I assumed the blue book was only for Thai nationals and yellow for others?
Peterw42 - What are the requirements for obtaining the Residence in Pattaya certificate from Immigration?
Tanoshi - Sent you a pm with my email address

Hello All
Anyone have experience of obtaining a yellow book in Jomtien as a condo owner (assuming the blue book is only for Thai nationals). Is the yellow book sufficient for proof of address at Jomtien IO or will I need something else when I apply for my non imm o and subsequent retirement extension?
Is there a form letter/template for the proof of income letter/stat dec which I will be obtaining from the Aust Embassy in Bangkok? Any advice from someone who goes this route would be appreciated. Do I need to make an appointment or just rock up to the embassy? How long does it take etc?
I am up to speed with thing like cost and duration of the validity of the letter/stat dec.

Starting to fee l a bit adventurist, if I wanted to go down the combined income/deposit path, where do you get the proof of income letter from? I am assuming the embassy in Bangkok ?

ubonjoe and steve187 thanks for the replies. We should be able to muddle our way through now, it never occurred to me to start with a tourist visa. Also very good info about the strife being counted as a dependant and halving the cash requirement :-)

Hello
My wife and I are moving to Jomtien in the new year and I am a bit confused about the visa process. We originally planned on applying for non immigrant visas(retirement) in Oz before we leave but I read a recent post where the consensus seemed to be it would be much simpler and cheaper to apply once in country. The how and wherefore of actually doing that is the part that is confusing me. Any corrections to the process that I think I will be following would be most welcome.
1. Arrive by air and pass through immigration like any other tourist. Question, what about the requirement for a valid departing flight ?
2. Open a bank account and deposit 1.6 million baht. Question, what sort of account is acceptable at Jomtien immigration? For obvious reasons, some sort of fixed deposit would be preferable but I have read that a ready access account is a must.
3. Go to immigration and apply for a visa. Question, what type of visa exactly seeing the money needs to be in a bank 2 months before we can apply for the retirement extension?
4. After money is seasoned, go back to immigration and apply for the retirement extension. Questions, do we still need police checks and medicals to apply in country and if so, do you still have to have everything in triplicate, bound and notorized?
We plan on doing a bit of travelling while living in Thailand. Question, do we get the original visa as a multi entry visa or is the multi entry part sorted out at the retirement extension stage?

Hello
Has anyone used wise transfer receipts to prove money was transferred in from overseas at immigration at Jomtien to support of an extension to stay based on retirement? Interested in experiences at Jomtien only because that is the office I have to attend.
Thanks for any replies.
