    The copy of the marriage certificate must be of both sides and as well as that you missed the completed application form. I know that application is obvious but he did ask "exactly". For 100THB the guy across the street will complete your application and check your docs. I did mine two weeks ago.

    if the marriage cert is only one sided  it doesn't need to be copied both sides. if theres print on the other side then of course that needs to be copied. and i am not going to insult the guys intelligence that he needs to fill out the application form.

    I would definitely recommend getting the visa in Hanoi and then going up to Sapa or getting it in Vientiane and then going up to Vang Vieng and then Luang Prabang. Both options very budget friendly.

    Forget HCMC - it's a crime-infested shithole.

    HCMC is not a crime infested shit hole at all.

    if you prefer going to Vang Vieng to hcmc then well each to their own

  3. could fly to hcmc which i would recommend to visit anyway, explore a bit of vietnam, tunnels beaches whatever you like. then travel through cambodia, go see angkor wat and stuff and back into thailand via land. only probs with that is you would use up one of your visa exempts for next year. plenty of places to stay and eat on a budget and also travel on a budget.

    there used to be a bus, maybe there still is, from hcmc to hanoi that you pay one price and can get on and off the bus where you like to explore vietnam end up in hanoi, maybe go to halong bay and fly back into thailand from there

    you're in a lucky situation.

    enjoy exploring wherever you choose to go

    I cannot imagine how operating a business in Thailand that does not involve extracting money from the Thai economy, could be anything but a WIN/WIN situation for all concerned. Only bureaucracy could muddle the implications of this.

    it is win/win, however they will eventually, if they haven't already, realize that there are a lot people here bringing in a lot of money from businesses overseas. they will find a way to start making those people pay tax and most that i know would be happy to do so if they were given some kind of permission to stay in order to do so 100% legally.

    could change, give it a decade or so

  5. was your gaydar working? think it could be that?

    might just be a friendly guy, personally i wouldn't get too close to any officials unless they were through friends i already have. that includes coppers inviting to join for a drink to an immo officer asking for my line id.

    a random male at the counters at passport control, i'd find that strange and question his intentions.

    how often is he asking people for their numbers and stuff and just to make friends, seems odd.

    many i am sure will have good intentions, i would be wary of those that don't.

    He could 'help' you in the future some say. if you have an elite visa and i assume once that's up you'll organize yourself another visa so not sure what 'help' he can provide you especially as he is still working the counters.

    it's a bit like if i was still single would i date an immo officer i didn't already know through friends, absolutely not.

    women can cause you shit if you find you don't really fancy them and call it off, a disgruntled immo ex could quite easily get you turfed out of the country. wouldn't be worth the risk  IMO

  6. you probably already know and i know it's not what you asked but just thought i'd point it out in case.

    you can get the same visa from HCMC, same as savannaket only difference is just letter from mrs required.

    if you're paying 3k each just to go to savannaket then need to stay a night in muk and hotel then flight back.

    as you are in bkk non o ME from HCMC can be got in one night, direct return flights, and depending nationality no visa required for vietnam so maybe an option for some. could be quicker, cheaper and less hassle for those in bkk.

    @Ubonjoe

    Thank you, so we could get the marriage certificate translated and get it stamped by the MFA and it could all go smoothly changing my wife’s name in her passport or the Amphoe might be funny and then we would have to either go to London or post our marriage certificate to the London Thai embassy?

    @Happy enough

    Easier for travel, signing documents, banking etc.

    @BobbyL

    Ah nice one, I don’t suppose it was called Express Translation Service & Travel Co? Just searched it ?

    Did your wife/husband get their passport name changed with the translation and MFA stamp?

    just wondered as hers is still in her thai name but haven't had any reason to change.

    before you can do anything here such as change her name i am sure they would need the kor ror 2.

    you would need to send your marriage cert to the uk for them to do their legalization part, they then post that with the marriage cert to the thai embassy London who do their bit and they then post back everything back together to you. very straight forward.

    all details can be found here https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised

  9. wasn't a bad article though i suspect most aussies are aware of the jetski scams and respect of religious sites etc. ok you had the 2 gay guys bum pic recently but they were taking the piss and know they were being disrespectful but they got their bit of gay community fame i guess. where i think he does make good points is regards dealing with face and shouting etc and also just enjoying nights out here, that part i thought would be useful to his fellow aussies coming here.

    *oh and constant reminders about getting in trouble on bikes is always a good thing IMO

    Or they could arrest him for being on overstay when he picks up his passport.

    if they saw his visa had expired when they took the passport i am sure he would have been detained and it seems he is not so i assume it's expired after. i think best the OP gets down to his local BiB and speak to them about it straight away

    If they have a lease then it's not his wife's home.

    Never stated she didn't need her Tabien Baan, but they will need proof of address within the Province covered by the IO.

    i have used tabien baan from a southern province in cw/bkk to do 60 day extension and gave them my bkk address without proof required. maybe depends on office but sure it doesn't matter in bkk unless changed in the past year or so

    You will ned the lease agreement and possibly copies of the landlords Tabien Baan and ID card as proof of address.

    Completed TM7.

    Kor Ror 2.

    The tabien is a must from the mrs. No need for anything else such as lease agreement as far as I am aware. Don’t need kor ror 2 either if have a marriage cert from abroad in English for example. At least at CW

  13. Yes all of the above correct for Bangkok. Except I think you don’t need your lease agreement just her tabien page copy and signed no harm in taking just in case.

    I am sure you need a copy of your last entry and admitted until date stamp also.

    security ask Thais for ID on the way into CW but they can just walk through security or explain to the desk they need it, it’s hardly Fort Knox 555

    Yes she has to be with you, I think they even take a picture of you both.

    you definitely need your original marriage certificate

    Looking at the Ho Chi Minh requirement for Non-O for Thai Spouse...

    They need "Certified copy of Thai spouse’s ID card", what does certified in this context mean? I assume just need to take a photo copy and her sign it.

    Also, "Guarantee letter wrritten in Thai from Thai spouse", what should be included in this letter? Does it matter if it's hand-written or typed on computer?

    Just wanna make sure I do it 100% correct, I've done too many silly things with these things before.

    Thanks.

    Photocopy of her ID card signed by her and a hand written letter requesting the visa from her and signed
