  1. Just completed the Non-O, no proof of funds asked for..

Followed the list of required docs on their website, was all quite easy. The embassy didn't open until 9:00am so had the sun burning on everyone for 30+ minutes.

There's a charge of 100 baht for going through immigration, then further 1500 baht for the Laos visa, and a leaving charge of 50 baht.

They have an airport-style scanner which seems to be used to stop people bringing back Beer Laos and Heineken.

Starting to get busy there with Chinese on tour buses, I'm not sure I'll do it again, bit of a mission from Phuket.

its always nice to hear things like this. means it isnt just me and there really are serious cultural obstacles that hinder foreigners here on a daily basis. give your wife a high 5 from me! ????

    Will do lol

They would behave the same way if you were Thai (aside from asking for 500 baht), so not just a foreigner thing

  3. I've just found out I need to cancel my non-b the middle of this month due to an issue with Khurusapa (long story)

School I currently work at wants me to stay and is offering me another role if I get a non-o visa (though I'm considering a University job)

I don't have 400k in a Thai account (but do in my home country account for emergencies), and got married 2 weeks ago so not wanting to go home just yet.

What would be the best option from here?

    1) Obtain a 1-year multi-entry non-o from Savannakhet (not sure if this then allows employment)

    2) Get a 60-day marriage extension and transfer the money (I would need to transfer back it back a few months after, so money would be lost)

Completed a visa run to savanakhet.

Cost for Laos VOA is $40 USD or 1500baht so it was slightly cheaper paying in thb.

I'm Aussie which is normally cheaper (32usd) but was charged 40.

They charged everyone a stamp fee 100baht each.

Consulate had no line up, straight though to the window and out in 5mins.

Agoda was having a fit when we booked our hotel rooms, 700baht which is double normal rate at Avalon 2 counter.

which day of the week did you go?

did they ask for proof of funds?

    Yes

But to get the last 90 day entry from your visa before it expires you you probably would not want to get another 60 day extension.

    Thanks

I will be changing from a Non-B working to Non-O and heard I can do a 60 day extension first, before changing to the Non-O, is this true? would I need to show proof of funds to do so?
