Thanks, would be good to get confirmation from local CM members, as it appears that CM is lagging a bit behind as far as reopening businesses/parks.

Hi,
Is the clothing section of those store currently open?
-
Yes, you are right. Prices have gown up way more than just “normal inflation”. Thailand is not so cheap anymore. I’ve been living here for 15 years.

That would work as long as the hotel does the report. Be prepared to show a receipt for the hotel.
So how does this work exactly? Immigration get some kind of daily update on foreigners staying at hotels, and have a database of all that/those persons? How am i supposed to know if the hotel does the report or not? Have people been denied a visa extension on such basis (hotel not having reported a guest)?
Are people really asked to show a hotel receipt? Is that a listed requirement for a visa extension? Cheap hotels and guest houses rarely give any kind of receipt here in thailand. Also, a receipt would only show past hotel stays, which is not necessarily current hotel stay (could have changed hotel on day of extension). If so, would a screenshot of the booking on a tablet suffice?

Would booking a couple nights at a hotel (lets say a cheap dorm) right around the time of my 30 day tourist visa extension (and writing this address on extension form), be a way to workaround the TM 30 procedure (i am currently living in a house)?

As I recall the better buses from Chiang Mai to Nong Khai arrive at Nong Khai bus station around 6:00 am. Obviously, this leaves plenty of time to buy breakfast, then make your leisurely way across the Friendship Bridge and on to the Thai consulate in Vientiane.
I would print off the appointment slip if I were you.
Ok, i will go inquire at the bus station see if i can find such a bus straight to nong khai. That would be best.
Thanks!

You can check in at the consular section until noon.
They call out the queue numbers by groups.
You would use the same number to pick up your passport the next day.
I read reports they will accept seeing you appointment on a phone but IMO it would be best to print it out.
Thanks for ur quick and useful reply (as always).

Hi, im thinking of taking the night bus from chiang mai to Udon, and then go to vientiane from there in the morning. Can one basically arrive anytime before noon to proceed with the application? If so, would my time of arrival on that day affect the time i get my passport back the next day? Also, is it ok to just present the appointment on tablet, or will a print out be asked?
Thanks

"Chiang mai : few rejections"
Is that just random/shoot from the hip kind of assessment. How many rejections do you know of?

In theory you could be, in practice from KL it's unlikely but not impossible.
I've flown KUL-CNX multiple times over the last few years and have never been asked by AirAsia. Generally speaking Asian airlines tend not to care.
Thanks!

No (but they could, chances are low so only book a bogus ticket or greenbus ticket if they request it at the counter).
Good to know a greenbus ticket could be accepted as well. Thanks

It certainly is a possibility. Many threads on this in the past. Think one is currently running. Anyway you can try and if airline refuses you boarding you can quickly book flight on your cell. Check out cheapest option. As for pp control when you land, if you have history of many setv, VE, etc you could have issue. You didn't provide much info. Good luck. Just to add...maybe no help to op, however I fly to Saigon today back Tues. On return trip I will specifically ask AirAsia staff issuing bording pass about this. There is no kiosk check in at Saigon airport. Many times I note staff looking at pages in passport. I think they are looking for my visa to Thailand. Anyway will report on Tuesday.
Im not too concerned about the CNX immigration part. Never heard of anyone getting denied there, unless maybe they’ve already did 2 visa exempt on current calendar year. Coming back on a new passport anyways. Thanks.

Hi,
Im considering flying from KL to Chiang Mai with Airasia and getting a visa exempt on arrival. Will i be asked to show a plane ticket out of Thailand within 30 days in order to board the plane?
Thanks

Great that you got 5 - despite this notice and then the usual over reaction on here
Also nothing on the TVS site about them restricting TV's which would suggest to me nothing has changed at all
https://www.thaivisaservice.com/
ya, seems business as usual from what i could see. If not, i would be the prime canditate for being denied another TV.

I've got 4 back to back TVs from Vientiane..but still no warning stamp. I was planning to get a last one before i get my new passport..but then there was this notice apparently saying they might get more strict. Im due to go there next week. Does anyone know if people with no warning stamp have been refused a TV so far? If not..i might give it a shot.
Thanks

I would give it a shot :It's probably a grey area where even the IOs not sure what to do; so it would be up to the discretion of the particular officer. The offer of the 'payment' of any fees might help.
Yea, i might...worse that could happen is that i have to write the form again using my other (old) passport, if they wont proceed.

Just remember you can't swap PPs at a land border, so make sure you have enough space for Laos visas both this time AND NEXT TIME (if they won't let you change PPs flying into Laos).
Depending on the free space in your current PP, I'd fly into Laos, swap PPs on your way back with a VE, & then get your TV next time you cross into Laos.
edit... OK, I forget Vientiane is not too convenient from a land crossing....and your flight to UT is already booked. GL anyway.
Thanks for the heads up on the passport pages possible issue. I just checked and have 4 pages left. So i am good for 2 more visa exempt (including lao visas).
Its hard for me to understand why, and if its even "legal", that they would deny me entry in a country if my old passport was full, and i had a brand new passport (albeit from a different country) to present them...
I will fly to KL next time and swap passport there on entry.

So fly back from Laos for a VE in the new passport.. Then do a land border run and get a TV next time....
A bit comlicated to do that..because i will probably just do an in and out at the border..rather than go to Vientiane. THanks for the suggestion anyways.

Thanks for your responses
Mm..ok..seems like im going to have to just get a 30 day exempt this time as my flight to Udon Thani is already booked..and Seeing how Vientiane is getting stricter..im guessing they wont issue me another TV eventhough i dont have the “red stamp” (4 TV from there already on this passport).
Could i swap passport if i were to fly directly to Vientiane?

Hi,
Im the holder of 2 passports. The passport im currently on is full of Thai TV, and will expire in 1 year. The second passport (different nationality) is brand new. Im planning a trip to Vientiane next month. Have any of you tried entering Lao via friendship bridge with a different passport than the one you exited with from Thailand?
I had no problem doing this (swapping passorts) when i flew from Thailand to KL a few years ago. But i might have read something in the past saying it was an issue doing this while entering Lao, for some reason.
Thanks!

I went home to Europe last May and while there got a new passport. Because my old one was still valid for another 7 months I continued to use it for my return to Thailand..and thereafter (to avoid the hassle of producing the new one). However the time came this month to start using my new PP. Upon enquiry I was told in Soi 5 that I would have to have my new PP "confirmed" by my Embassy and bring the confirmation letter back to Soi 5 before they would transfer the necessary stamps (I was applying for my yearly extension)....All of which I did.
The bit the bugged me the most was that my Embassy charged me 4000Bt. for the privilege of "confirming the PP that they had sold me in the first place".
Get this...my government sold me my passport and then made me pay 4000 Bt. to confirm that it wasn't a copy (dud). The way some people talk on here you would think this stuff doesn't happen outside this country.
How can you have 2 valid passports? They normally void the old one when they give you the new one.
