my wife can cover expenses etc as well. so maybe not as few as you may think.
Yeah for sure .
I'm sure Thailand is rampant with Thai wives supporting fully their farang partners, including the funds in bank requirements for extensions
400k as a once off the OP wishes to return to UK is a red herring.

Thank you much.
BTW: Vientiane requires an appointment.
Currently don't think they offer multi.
Believe @transam dealt with Savannahket.
He can advise.

This combined with greater scrutiny on source of funds in to Thailand, surely we must all provide up to date & current information.
3 weeks ago I transferred 80kaud+ from Oz using WISE.
I ticked "long term living expenses "
Arrived in my Thai account in less that 2 hours.

Nothing definitively points to seasoning required or not. I travel next week and can deposit the funds this week and get my banks letter if seasoning not required.
Things have changed.
For the multi seasoning is required (previously not the case)
Few reports where guys have attended for multi and without seasoning have been give single entry non O (90 day)

I mentioned Deemoney earlier.
Bit off topic however....
I not long ago purchased a condo from UK guy.
There was a misunderstanding and I paid him in cash.
I sent him to Deemoney as he was returning UK in few days.
Subsequently he needed all the land office transfers and blue book etc.

Current thread on this. Keep eye on replies.

As previously stated, he has been to Thailand twice in the last 12 months. When checking in, the airline told him as you have had 2 visa exempt in the last year so you need a visa. He obviously questioned this. The airline claimed to have rung Bangkok immigration to check and they concurred. Travel was refused and he has now applied for a tourist visa
Do you know how many folk post regarding entry to Thailand via air using visa exempt.
It's like a recycle bin. Fills every day.
There has NEVER been ONE account remotely similar to your account.
Done with chit chat. Post factual accounts.

Why did you need to do that.
If you entered Thailand with a non O marriage from UK ...
The 400k does not need to come from overseas for extension

The essence of my OP was to warn all prospective non imm o's that due to the new "rules" monies in does not necessarily mean monies out - so be prepared for this scenario.
How did you try and transfer funds back to UK?
Also VERY few would be in your situation regarding wife having Financials covered both for living and obtaining extensions.
Point of your thread?

Plenty here in Thai wife's name
You will require 400k in your Thai bank account in your name for subsequent extensions.
Cleary wife can cover that ongoing.
As for the funds already sent its not big money sort it with wife and plan for ongoing extensions.

Trying to make Thailand our home after being in Europe for the last 20 years..
Your OP makes very little sense.
As @Stocky pointed out.
How do you plan to live in Thailand Money wise.
The funds only need to remain in bank for 2 months + under consideration period.
Then you can use it.
Regarding sending funds to UK which options did you try.
Surely you looked at DEE money

Its not nonsense at all, it has just happend FACT.
Post exact details of your "friends" experience with what appears to be very limited stays in Thailand using visa exempt entries.
Many do this extensively without issue.
Perhaps @Pattaya57 can relate his personal experience.
BTW not unique his is a common experience in fact.

OP, an appointment is required at Vientiane.
Savannahket not.

Did you enter Thailand at the start of the validity period of your Non O visa? Long stay visas are valid ( or used to be) for entry for 12 months from start date of valid for use .
Doubt it.
You are referring to a non O-A that has a validity of one year and is multi entry visa.
Almost certain that he does not have that.
His entry stamp will show that.
With a non O-A he would be stamped in for 12 months.

I have a non-O retirement visa and plan to travel to Spain this Saturday. I believe I can leave Thailand once without paying the 1,200 baht for a re-entry permit.
I suspect that you have a single entry non o based on retirement.
Look at the stamp you were given upon entry.
I assume you will see a 90 day permission of stay.
That visa is now used.
To exit Thailand and protect your stamp you will need to obtain single reentry permit.
This can be done at airport. 1000b
Which airport will you exit from

Something is going on, I know someone who has just been refused travel from UK (airline supposed to have contacted Bangkok immigration to confirm) having travelled on exempt 2 times in the last year. Below from London embassy site. The first line says only 2 entries per year with no explanation but then further down it sepecifies by land and sea
Read the thread.
The information you posted is incorrect.
Along with the reference to "friend" that entered TWICE last year using visa exempt.
You stated ....
"going on, I know someone who has been refused travel from UK having travelled on exempt 2 times in the last year."
That is nonsense.
If refused "travel from Uk" it would possibly be issue of boarding pass with no onward flight.

An update from @miaclarkson03 would be very helpful to forum.

There is no date on that article (Edit: it's from 19th April 2015) but pretty sure that the rule got recinded years ago (If I had to guess I'd say 2017/2018....
In this thread attached ubonjoe mentions this "rule" think he refers to 2016 and gives bit of background.
25 minutes ago, Mike Teavee said:End of the day it's at the IO's discretion so whilst there may/may not be a maximum limit, you are more likely to be challanged the more visa exempt entries you do so best advice for longer stays would be to get a Visa rather than relying on extensions + border bounces.
Your statement here best sums up the situation.

There is a limit of 6 times per year when arriving by air. "Those who arrive at the airport without a prior visa will continue to receive a 30-day stamp up to 6 times per calendar year."

he just comes in and out using the 30 day stamp on arrival, no long term visa.
No need for him to do anything regards tm30 unless he needs to deal with immigration eg extension

Non-Immigrant O Visa based on marriage Savannakhet, Vientiane, or... ? Which is easiest?

Yes.
For both offices (my understanding) is apply am and pick up next business day pm.
Someone will correct if that's not correct
