I fully agree with you, never thought of it that way. Never too old to learn some wisdom.

Question: do relevant local authorities ever regulate the absurd loud noise most ambulances are producing? Are there any limitations to what amount of noise of these live saving, profitmaking companies can produce? Is this noise in particular meant for the blind/deaf population of Chiang Rai? Peep peep honk honk prt prt with the additional howling to complete the f.. loud noise, level 9. It is mind hurting, irritating and this extreme noise is produced even when there is no traffic obstruction as this seems not part of the criteria to switch on the attack.

The horrible level of noise made by ambulances
Don Dunkelblum replied to Don Dunkelblum's topic in Health and Medicine
Love it, love it.. -
In particular during the week-ends there is in my location an increase of customers on their way to one of the nearby three hospitals. Also, the relevant (often private) ambulances are manned, as it seems, by drivers with a mentality of a seven year old and have no mercy on innocent people i.e. using their sirens to the maximum with no penalty, traffic or no traffic, corners or no corners etc. Thai people in the area have no problems with this, it seems, even as frequency of disturbance continues and even increases. Does it make a difference if I inform the local municipality? I thought of a man size made poster along the route with a middle finger and the word ambulances. I am also planning to relocate.

If Thailand is getting tougher for expats, how about Vietnam?
Don Dunkelblum replied to webfact's topic in General Topics
In addition: Vietnam is a former eastbloc country controled by statemafia where partymembers have privileged positions in society. You do not want to retire in such a place. -

'sex on the beach - 2 USD' : wow, that must have been fantastic. Is that the reason why you roam South-East Asia? Any bargaining? Which beach was that? It must have been one of your best days I can imagine.

Dual pricing has been approved by Thai courts as legitimate: If this is true, it is allowed to discriminate in Thailand. I might be wrong but I thought there are laws against this. Anyone knows if this is happening as well in Cambodia? Maybe time to make a move.

Having a haircut of 2 minutes (THB 80)
Don Dunkelblum replied to Don Dunkelblum's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Previous visits, a sort of understanding of the effort of the job it takes: not 2 minutes, between 5-10 minute. now start lookig for a different Barber -
I went for a trim at my regular barber at my regular place (full of Thais) and was met with silence After my turn the hair job was done in 2 minutes and I was told so when finished. I never complained before of the result and always gave a 20 baht tip. The result was not impressive but what can you expect in 2 minutes No big deal, but are there other Farang who had similar experiences of not being welcome some where as a cuntomer?
