Have ZS and really like ours.  What year & kms ?

Not sure yet but I’ll post - will be available at Xmas I think….I’ll check in here.

is it an ok car to drive around bangkok and fort road trips in Thailand?

then easy enough to sell when time to leave Thailand?

    thanks

  2. This is all very helpful information…..however I’m still not sure what the best course of action is. I need a car. That’s a given.

I’m renting currently and plan to do that for next few months.

but if I am staying a minimum of a year or 2, does it make sense financially to buy a car - so I can sell when I leave and recoup some of the money - rather than renting for a year or 2?

also if I buy should I buy newish….from a dealership and see if giving a down payment they would accept without a Thai guarantor?

or should I just try to rent and save for time being and then buy something cheaper?

finally what car?! I prefer the bigger cars, gives me more confidence with the family And traffic - I liked the elevation of a pick up truck which I’ve driven so I’m thinking fortuner, one of the bigger Hondas or a ford Everest rather than the smaller compact SUVs…..thoughts?!

  3. Disappointed with options available……Not much available in budget of 45k and prices seem really high for old and badly decorated houses. Also none in that budget seem to have a maids room, which I thought most would.

Struggling to find anything in the area, any ideas? Tried agents, tried going myself, etc….Any nice moobaans I am missing?

If you are tight in finance, my advice is not to buy now. Rent for 1-2 months first if you really need it now. And save up money to fully paid a second-hand car within your budget range. Try to get Toyota or Isuzu so you won't need to worry about their reliability or fixing costs as they are usually relatively much cheaper compared to other brands.

Second-hand cars (finance on used cars usually have a high-interest rate, which I find not worth it)

First-hand cars (usually they will have some kind of promotion- ie: downpayment of 30% of the car price and take a loan for 48 months. The interest rate is usually around 1.3% - 1.6%.

I have bought 10-11 cars within 5 years times of my stay in Thailand. I usually buy second-hand cars as cars usually depreciate like mad. As I don't find a need to get a first-hand as I feel that as long the car feels price right, I will get it.

For example, during the end of 2019. I bought a Toyota Fortuner (4 months old) at 1 mil baht. New was 1.49 mil. No crash or any other nonsense problem. Sold it during Jan 2022 for 850k. If I were to buy second-hand, my losses will be even higher.

There is every price of the car for your budget. So depending on your budget.

    You can get a relatively cheap Camry 2013 - 2017 model for 300k - 500k.

Hardly spoil if you were to ask me and standard EU safely.

I definelty need a car as will work out by airport.

will rent for a few months and see what’s what but now not sure to buy new or used -  where should I look for used cars and not grt

    cheated!

Owning a car, is a huge expense, renting even worse.  Do you really need, as it appears you can't really afford one at this point.

I definitely need one as will have to commute and can only do it by car - also have family and need a car mostly to get to work.

I can’t actually afford one now because I don’t have the cash - I could save up and have the money in a few months. We will be on fairly good salaries - combined income of around 320,000 THB and planning on renting initially, however also thought buying was better than renting because after when you leave you can sell and get some money back.

I need more opinions on what to do - also what car to get.

  6. We need a car. Have driven in Bangkok before and felt more confident with a “bigger/taller” car. We can’t afford to buy cash right now so looking at options.

also advice on what to do and what’s best!

initially plan is to save money while we do long term rental like for 6 months….however finding a suitable car is proving difficult.

also looking at buying and wondering if there are any finance options for expats on work visa…..we’ve just arrived though so no history in our accounts.

we are on a 2 year contract - so you never know that might be it or we might extend after…..so should we buy second hand - but there doesn’t seem to be any finance Options for second hand? Something like Toyota sure - do they have pay monthly options?

buy new? Would they entertain us even if we’ve just arrived?

just rent for the 2 years??

thanks - I know nothing about cars, just know when driving in bangkok I prefer the taller/bigger cars that’s the sedans - give us more confidence! Oh and we are a family.

  7. Does anyone have any trusted suppliers of replica stuff? Clothes and shoes mostly. I know MBK and Chatuchak have things but do any of these offer items for sale online on FB or line for example so I don’t need to go to the market?

a list of trusted suppliers that are online would be great thanks!

  8. Really struggling to find a suitable location and then moobaan. Variables to consider with Bangkok traffic seem too

    complex….

We don’t want to be too isolated however we want to have good access to the road to Thana City.

Another variable is we have found a nanny but she wants to live in so we would need a maids room which seems to be difficult to find.

We’ve now searched online and found many options for location but unsure about if the Google maps timings are accurate. We don’t want to drive more than 20/30 minutes to work and back.

Would the moobaans in srinakarin be suitable?

does anyone else have any other suggestions?

  9. Hi,

Looking for names of compounds (MooBaans) close to Mega BangNa. Will be working in Thana City but don’t want to be in the middle of no where - So would like to find accommodation closer to Mega BangNa.

A commute of around 20 minutes is acceptable…..If you can share names of compounds we can look at - family friendly places 3/4 bedrooms.

Just thinking that it will be better to commute for 20 min but be a bit closer to Mega BangNa…..

Thanks and hope I get some suggestions!

  10. Hi,

Looking for a cheap place to do this for me in Bangkok - Ideally all online and I only want 1 sample. I've checked and one place wants 1700 for one tshirt - bit expensive....

I have a logo and I want it on a Tshirt and a cap.......does anyone know any places I can deal with online that will do this cheaply?

    Thanks

  11. So, I am looking at the American Express gold but the offer in my home country is with bonus sign up points - here in Thailand it doesn't come with sign up points.

I've never had a points/miles card - are they worth it? We like to save and the idea of a credit card doesn't appeal too much -

Under normal circunstances we travel to Europe twice a year 3 people - we spend on groceries and some hotel stays for holidays but would only stay at a Marriott hotel for my birthday for example.

So is the Thai American Express Gold worth it - Are there any other cards that are worth having as an expat?

    Thanks

Colonoscopy is a same day procedure. You are given Iv sedation that will completely knock you out, you feel nothing other than the initial insertion of the IV. The only unpleasant part is the prep (powerful laxatives to clean out ypur colon).

You can go home as soon as you are fully awake which usually does not take long. But best to have someone with you and don't plan on driving as you may still be a bit spaced out for a few hours.

Thanks Sheryl, so its a complete anethesia? Does that mean that a special doctore knocks you out and manages you while you are out?

I saw Dr Morakod Deesomsak at Samitijej a few years ago for a gastro problem and she did a colonoscopy on me. I would go back to see her again and would reccomend her. She is a good doctor and easy to work with.

Hi Thanks, I'll also have a look.

Do you mind me asking how the procedure went? How long does it last? Do they sedate you or are you completely under?

Is it done in an operating theatre? Does it hurt?

Are you able to leave the hospital the same day?

A little anxious about having it done...

    Thanks

  14. Tried to research but everyone says a different thing. I think Im gonna try the MI BOX S -- Does anyone have any advice, tips or recommends a different box?

    Thinking of buying on Lazada.

I already have an IPTV service however it has started buffering quite a bit on my firestick, so I am wanting to try a different box.

Strange thing is I have a different IPTV service that works quite well so I am thinking whether its them, which I don't think so because lots of other people use it fine. Or maybe my internet?? Do ISP throttle internet connections here?

Anyway, is the MI BOX S any good, should it improve my experience or should I go for a different box?

    Thanks!
